@WokeEwok

My toe hurts Betty

All fucking day

Round here he would immediately be nicknamed 'Gout Boy' or 'Gouty Frank'.
cyclingmad · 05/09/2020 18:56

cars mostly theb my next door neighbours who don't talk but shout to each other ...just so loud! Every other week the arguments on the side road provide some eastender style entertainment

TheGrayChapter · 05/09/2020 19:01

Tractors
Occasional car
Horses

Somanysocks · 05/09/2020 19:51

The dopesmoking boy nextdoor coughing in the back garden, their dogs barking. Birds tweeting, car doors slamming.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/09/2020 20:07

Some houses in my street are having major building work done - all neccessary and not ornamental. There are several machines making noise all day whose names I do not know in no language whatsoever, so I cannot tell you. They start at 7, finish at 17 and don't do the traditional finish at 14 on Frieday's.

Ginsmything · 05/09/2020 20:10

Police car sirens, we live very close to what used to be the Police HQ in Edinburgh

Witchend · 05/09/2020 21:05

Gun shots is our most common non-normal noise, especially when it's wet.

We live within earshot of an army range.

Ishihtzuknot · 05/09/2020 21:11

Barking dogs, slamming doors, screaming children, revving cars and trains going by.

Maidofdishonour · 05/09/2020 21:13

My neighbours chickens. They drive me absolutely nuts as they often squawk in the middle of the night and then start properly at 5am. Neighbours garden backs onto the side of my house so they put the chickens at the end of their garden underneath my bedroom window!

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/09/2020 21:17

The neighbours dogs who lose their shit every time he leaves the house. Luckily their moving soon.

They will not be popular in their new home.

yearinyearout · 05/09/2020 21:17

Fucking pigeons cooing. Drives me nuts. Occasional cats fighting, and next door but one having screeching arguments with her 20 year old daughter.

GwendolineMarysLaces · 05/09/2020 21:17

Sheep, quad bikes, tractors, curlews

GreenLowe · 05/09/2020 21:18

Sirens as we have police, ambulance and fire stations near us.

Pheasants calling.

Dogs barking. Everyone walks their dogs around here,

Sheep in the fields.

Foxes calling.

Combine harvesters. Tractors and other farm machinery working in the fields opposite.

Delivery vans

Children playing and people mowing lawns.

Swans, geese and the herons flying overhead.

Often nothing. It's either very busy or deathly quiet.

Sometimes boat/barge horns.

Either you and I are neighbours, or we've got a matching set of dickhead dog owners.
Austereorange · 05/09/2020 21:22

(Context - live in a detached house in an apparently ‘naice’ suburb on the very edge of a town)

Daytime:
Dogs. Fucking yapping dogs. One side constantly, one house at the back, one house next door but one. Several houses on the street behind.
Next doors teen DS learning bass guitar.
Boy racers
DIY
Next doors very very loud conversations outside almost constantly
Another neighbour who paces in the garden talking all his very ‘loud and important’ work calls
Another neighbours radio which is on from 8am to 11pm daily with the door or windows open
Traffic

What I never get a chance to hear:
Birds
Wind in the trees
My own quiet thoughts

Night time:
All the above plus:
Arsehole on our road who regularly has parties from midnight- 5am including during lockdown. Last Saturdays was spectacular.
Taxi drivers beeping horns.

titchy · 05/09/2020 21:22

Leaf blowers, chain saws, wood chippers. Every fucking day since lockdown. AngryAngryAngry I'm surprised there's any bloody trees left here.

SexyGiraffe · 05/09/2020 21:22

Dogs barking, the odd car, the neighbours' kids, distant train line and occasionally nearby schools (although not for the last six months). It's pretty peaceful - I don't mind a little background noise.

titchy · 05/09/2020 21:23

Oh yeah, and the 6.30am motorbike.

jessstan2 · 05/09/2020 21:24

I hear power tools sometimes during the day at the back.

At night I only hear foxes.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/09/2020 21:25

What’s causing all these barking dogs is fuckwit owners leaving them alone all day. Poor things are lonely.

CarrieFour · 05/09/2020 21:25

In the daytime my/neighbours kids playing (2 doors up have 3 under 3 and the middle one is a screecher Confused) the occasional train horn, and birds - mainly parakeets as they're very loud.

At night owls and foxes. Love sleeping with our window open and listening to the owls.

Passmethecrisps · 05/09/2020 21:25

Various birds including gulls.
Very distant train announcements
Dogs barking and lawnmowers

In the summer normally we can hear the sports ground echoing over. I love hearing the cricket

Neighbours children playing, which is actually lovely.
The occasional train ( it’s not a busy line ).
At night we have a regular owl hooting behind us.

Imissmoominmama · 05/09/2020 21:30

Loads of birds.
