Anyone else never really feel like going on holiday.
never fails to amaze me how people spend £10k on a luxury holiday - all that money on 2 weeks that is so soon over.
Antiques roadshow this woman sold a beautiful painting for loads then said she was going to sell it to go on a poxy cruise!!
Two days into a holiday and I want to come home, I hate them.
I can cope with a week camping somewhere but a three week cruise or tropical island no thanks.
My thoughts may be coloured by the fact my parents travelled all over the world with us and we were never in school or our own home for more than 6 months.
Now I love my home and cannot imagine queuing at airports, being shoved onto buses or sitting on an over crowded beach.
I suppose it helps living in the west country in a lovely spot but annual holidays - no thanks.

A cruise would do my head in but I loooove holidays. The longer the holiday the better.

Airports etc are a pest- but its a necessary evil to get to your destination.

I used to love a holiday but since having DC I often find that it’s more work than being at home although hopefully that will change as they get older. My DH works a lot and as he’s self employed is always working it seems so it helps to get him away as then he actually relaxes

I really love holidays and go on several a year in normal times. I'm quite depressed that my 26 day Christmas cruise has been cancelled. We cruise at least twice a year, go on tours and other holidays. We have a nice comfy home in Spain ,but like to see a bit of the world. We're definitely tourists not travellers. I can think of worse things to spend money on

I had not been on holiday for over 10 years (money) and I managed to get an all inclusive for a week a couple of years ago. Best holiday ever. So glad I went.
Don't know if I'll be able to do it again (money) but it was amazing

I love holidays. For me it's about relaxation and immersing myself in different cultures, trying delicious local foods, seeing amazing sights. I wouldn't like a cruise but holidays, yes.

I know what you mean, but I think if you are going somewhere interesting and amazing it feels different. The big holidays we’ve had have stuck with me and changed me (sorry if that sounds a bit OTT!). But sometimes a weeks beach holiday is more hassle that it’s worth, especially as flying gives me IBS. I guess we’ll do fewer trips abroad but make them more special in future, and maybe just have UK breaks or staycations the rest of the time which are easier. Off to Yorkshire on Monday for a weeks self catering and will just be nice to get a change of scenery.

Nope. Holidays are my favourite thing in life and what I most look forward to. Especially a cruise as you can see new places and have so much fun whilst at sea. I can't wait to go on my next holiday!!

I definitely value holidays/ experiences over possessions. We spend probably 20% of our income on holidays!

I like city breaks/a week in an exciting city. Thats what we usually opt for. Pre covid, you could get ryanair flights to a European city for very cheap and just stay in a city hotel with competitive rates. Take public transport/walk all over and enjoy the city/museums/attractions. I do the same for towns.

I live in London so its rare that the cost of food/transport would be significantly more expensive. The exception was Tel Aviv in Israel, food was soo expensive?

When I was a child in Singapore, my parents took me on 10 day long packaged tours which usually meant a tour guide (who almost always spoke Mandarin and I never understood why my parents picked the chinese speaking tours as my father wasn't fluent in Mandarin) took you around and showed you the sights, all the transport, food and 5 star hotels were included. All you needed to do was show up. I did enjoy seeing the new sights, but it does feel limiting, though i guess for a family or elderly people, it probably does take the stress out of planning.

I used to love holidays, we've been abroad and then a short break here, every year. We had to change this years Lanzarote to next year and we went to Northumberland instead. We had an amazing time and now I don't want to go to Lanzarote next year, I want to stay here! Not even Covid related, I just enjoyed it more this year than ever before.

I'm not a big holiday person either, OP. A lot of people seem to find that baffling. I get why people like to travel but it's not for me.

I work away a lot so when I'm off, I like to be at home.

I really like holidays, we haven't been away since February due to Covid (apart from a couple of days at a water park) and I have really missed traveling.
We have done our best exploring the local area but it is local.
I can't wait to get back to holidays, travel and seeing new things.
The last thing I need is more physical stuff in my life.

Well we all have different likes and dislikes. I love going on holidays in the sun and my idea of hell is a camping holiday, absolutely no thanks. Not particularly a cruise though.

I didn't go abroad until I was 30 and now I am making up for lost time. I love everything about them - the food, the change of scenery, the culture, the different weather, even the airport going out (but not coming home). I literally live for my holidays but am quite frugal in other areas of my life to afford them as in I hardly get my hair done, never get my nails done, wear charity shop clothes (no hardship- I love a good charity shop rummage) etc.

And op it definitely helps that you love somewhere beautiful with beaches n forests nearby. I am definitely not so fortunate

Not a fan here . I have a theory that people only like them for that last day feeling of going home - where they can relax and not worry about losing their stuff .
Even a day out somewhere is horrid because most of the time we are looking for a toilet and that is in pre-covid times .

I would consider a busmans holiday but they do not exist anymore,unless you count the gap year student racket - where a bridge is dismantled each year for the new students to re-build .

Though if the OP travelled a lot as a younger person I can see why it does not appeal any more.

We love our holidays and usually have 2/3 abroad a year. We managed to get away last week to Greece and are looking to book something for October half term, DC all love being abroad and have all been going from being a matter of weeks old.

But a week camping somewhere is still a holiday. I hate this perception that it's only a "proper holiday" if it's in a luxury location, or somewhere with hot weather. I usually go on holiday in the UK, to all sorts of places in the countryside, market towns, cathedral cities, islands, small places with silly events going on. I've gone on multi-day walks in the UK where I carried everything in my backpack. These are "real holidays" if there is such a thing. I've also been to places like Iceland which was amazing even though it was cold.

Love holidays and bloody love a good cruise!
