Does anyone use Headspace for sleep?

It’s an absolute revelation to me!! I’ve often struggled to get to sleep as my mind races etc. I’ve started using the ‘Sleepcasts’ on the Headspace app and they are AMAZING!

I don’t think I could tell you much of what happens after about the first 5 minutes of each one (they are 45 mins long) as I always end up nodding off not long after the breathing exercise at the beginning! I don’t know how they do it but it’s magical.

The sleep SOS tracks are good as well - 10 minutes for getting back to sleep in the middle of the night etc.

I use a sleep cast every night now!

Does anyone else and if so, which is your fave? If you don’t, I really recommend if you struggle to switch off Smile

What are they? Stories or something?

Lately I have struggled with sleep a lot so investigated YouTube and for the past few nights have been listening to an 8 hr howling wind, rain, thunder and lightening one. Uploaded by someone called the Relaxing Guy I think

HMSSophie · 03/09/2020 22:20

Gosh I use the rain sounds ones, they work pretty well. As does the
Local real rain storms we've been having!

Cat marina is the best! Why would cats be in a marina? Who knows but it's fab

I sometimes listen to stories on Calm. I sometimes doze off but usually wake up when they end, or have to strain to hear when the voice gets quieter.

But they pass the time on sleepless nights.

notcycling · 03/09/2020 22:34

Midnight launderette is my favourite one. Absolutely love it!
Also the sleep SOS ones for when I wake up in the middle of the night. They always get me back to sleep, without fail.

ifeellikeanidiot · 03/09/2020 22:36

Indigo gallery is my favourite. I do like them but they're not a sure sleep fix for me.

Munxx · 03/09/2020 22:43

I have a crush on the voice of Midnight Launderette (also does Cat Marina and Pooch Palace) I cant listen to the female voices though. I got Headspace for free due to working in education and I love it.

ifeellikeanidiot · 03/09/2020 22:44

I cant listen to the female voices either. It's just not the same Confused

BadgertheBodger · 03/09/2020 22:47

There’s a couple of women on Insight Timer who I love - Sara Blondin and Glenda Cedarleaf. Sara has an incredible one all about birds and it being the end of the day, time to rest and it’s just dreamy

WhiskersPete · 03/09/2020 22:47

I've been using HeadSpace recently and also had insomnia this past week where I wake with anxiety so I will try this tonight. Thanks OP

SNStoday · 03/09/2020 22:48

I used these every night when I was ill. They are brilliant. I like the laundrette too! Only find the male voice works for me, and none of the creepy horror movie whispering business.

Yeah they’re sort of stories/description of a nice place in a calming voice with ambient sound behind like rain or a train chugging Smile My 2 favourites are about visiting an antiques shop on a rainy day and a slow train!

Same! Has to be male voice, not sure why! I tried launderette the other night and it was good. I also hate the whispery ones! Confused

Yes! Why is that??

I love the slow train and midnight laundrette too. I’ve gone off Calm with it’s use of celebrity narrators.

Also agree on the female voices. Prefer the report tones of men.

notcycling · 04/09/2020 06:12

I'm the same with the female voices, can only listen to male ones! Why is that??
I wonder if, similarly, men can only listen to female voices? 🤷🏻‍♀️

notcycling · 04/09/2020 06:16

Also, I had an interview recently and listened to a short interview meditation on headspace. It really made me a lot calmer I must say. And I got the job 😊

beecause · 04/09/2020 07:19

I listen to the Breethe app and love the bedtime stories, not that that I make it to the end often but Stillness Speaks by Eckhart Tolle is my fav.

User56770987 · 04/09/2020 07:28

Love them. Think I've tried all of the sleep casts. I like the library one. Works 99% of the time.

Chrestomanci3 · 04/09/2020 07:33

Not intentionally. I used Headspace a couple of years ago for mindfulness, and found that I generally fell asleep during the longer sessions.

Yes they also have those great short meditations don’t they for during the day? I love it! Grin

Rain Day Antiques - that's my favourite ! I love them! Although I haven't used them for a while I do use the breathing exercises they have at the beginning myself and this has been a revelation!

After years of being unable to sleep properly, I can fall asleep quite quickly - they even work for naps! 😀
