Another thing or another think?

MaryPoppinUnannounced · 03/09/2020 16:04

So quick question is it

‘You’ve got another thing coming’ or
‘You’ve got another think coming’??

Worried I have been saying it wrong all these years Blush

Thing!

Ribrabrob · 03/09/2020 16:05

It’s thing, surely?!

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/09/2020 16:05

I say thing. I know it's think.

feistyoneyouare · 03/09/2020 16:05

It's 'think'.

ChanklyBore · 03/09/2020 16:06

It’s think. If you think it’s thing, you’ve got another think coming.

Anoisagusaris · 03/09/2020 16:06

Thing

Palavah · 03/09/2020 16:06

It's think.

"so you think you're taking the last piece of cake, do you? Well you've another think coming!"

Palavah · 03/09/2020 16:07

@chanklybore LOL

GreyishDays · 03/09/2020 16:07

Isn’t it quicker to google?

en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/have_another_think_coming

MaryPoppinUnannounced · 03/09/2020 16:08

Bloody hell.

I have been saying ‘thing’ Blush, however, it appears I’m not the only one.

Think!!!

Doyoumind · 03/09/2020 16:13

This comes up time and time again on here. It's think but lots of people say thing.

Devlesko · 03/09/2020 16:15

Thing.

"And for another think" wouldn't make sense.

devildeepbluesea · 03/09/2020 16:16

It's think. "If you think.......then you've another think coming". Thing makes absolutely no sense. It means you need to prepare to think differently.

Bigoldwimp · 03/09/2020 16:17

Think. Bizarre but true

LuxuryWoman2020 · 03/09/2020 16:20

Think. Nothing else would make sense. Its think

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 03/09/2020 16:20

It’s think. It’s always been think. It always will be think.

‘If you think that, you’ve got another think coming’
‘If you thing that, you’ve got another thing coming’

Second makes no sense.

BunnyLovesBananas · 03/09/2020 16:21

Thing

Never occurred to me it would be "think"

Some people pronounce "thing" as "think"

ZaZathecat · 03/09/2020 16:24

It's 'think'. As in 'you'd better think twice about doing that'.

Redglitter · 03/09/2020 16:25

And for another think" wouldn't make sense

But thats a totally different scenario to the one the OP is asking about

Shitzngiggles · 03/09/2020 16:25

Think

Reallybadidea · 03/09/2020 16:28

I blame Judas Priest.

ChateauMargaux · 03/09/2020 16:28

Think is a verb, thing is a noun. The sentence in question requires a noun, therefore a thing or a thought.. not a think!! You are all wrong!!

HasaDigaEebowai · 03/09/2020 16:30

Its think. It means think again

CatteStreet · 03/09/2020 16:30

Think!

It's verbal wordplay. It doesn't have to make grammatical sense.
