DPs mate asking him to pass on his number

DP was tagged on Facebook in a pub recently. While there a friend (let’s call him Pete) messaged him to ask if he could please pass on his number to the barmaid as he had been there the week before and had been absolutely besotted with her. Described her as ‘mesmerising’. Didnt speak to her at all as he was ‘too tongue tied’ but was planning to go back alone during the day To ask her out but saw that DP was there an took the opportunity.

Pete is married. We socialise with him and his wife and have done so recently. What made him think DP would be ok with this behaviour?! And even help him out?! And what is the right thing for DP to do now regarding the wife? We know her and like her even though we are not especially close. I think I would want to know.

Yes my BIL did this to me. It was for one of my mates. Bil was in a long term relationship with a lovely woman. I said no. He really didn’t like that as it made him feel shit about himself and we don’t actually speak now

Wow. The fact that he saw nothing wrong with asking your DP to do that suggests to me that he is routinely unfaithful - he’s crossed that boundary so many times that he doesn’t see it any more. Is there any chance he has an open marriage? If your DP tells Pete’s wife it will probably cost him the friendship with Pete but he doesn’t sound like any great loss.

Aside from the issue of his wife, what made Pete think that the mesmerizing barmaid would call the number of a random man who never even bothered to speak to her himself?

Yep I’d be going with @IslaMann suggestion and I would fully expect my partner to as well, I’d be tempted to throw in “@Lockdowners saw that too and is not impressed on friendswife behalf”
