To be fair they've been out every day walking the dog and he's the type of kid who's always climbing trees, digging in dirt, picking his nose etc, plus he's been in school for a few weeks over lockdown

It's rarely acknowledged but picking and eating is one of the best immunity builders there is.
I expect if you asked most people they'd say they never did that but really.......? Did make me smile, so thanks for that, not much to smile about at the moment.

bakingcupcakes · 12/09/2020 18:17

I don't think I would get tested either. I've thought about it a lot and I'd rather not know on the basis we could still go out for a walk etc. I'm quite fearful of being caught out by track&trace as it'd mean no money for 2 weeks. Now we've got some normality with work and school I don't want that being lost either. I'm a bit mystified by the lack of test slots to be honest because I don't understand why you'd want to know. I suppose it's to do with not being allowed back to school/work without a negative result that's pushing demand up.

Plus many people find autumn/ winter hard going anyway.

A decent amount of sunshine this year has gone a long way to keeping me ticking over. I'm easily "under the weather" quite literally on dull days anyway.

Had a lovely, legal woodland walk with another family today.
Next weekend I am running a race with a field of 500 entrants.
It boggles my mind that it would be illegal to go for a walk with friends after that Confused
Particularly as we space out quite a lot anyway. So much lower risk than seeing 5 mates in a pub!

Poor DS1 with a cold, and sensory issues. I think he's spent more time in the toilets dealing with his hands and nose than in the classroom. He can't leave it alone.
Most years he has 99-100% attendance and not just because I'm a meany mummy Grin
@RealityExistsInTheHumanMind Where do you buy your Vit D etc?
amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07K4CKTHL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 D3 drops

amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07JCXK3HP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 D3 softgels

I have used both of these. I used to be able to buy 10,000 iu soft gels but they don't sell any as strong as that now.

Two grand kids went back to nursery brought home a cold which has spread to our three family bubble. Not one of us went for a test, we know a cold when we see feel it. I do worry that kids at school are being sent home school insisting on tests before they can return is a complete waste of time. We have all had runny noses, a slight temperature at the beginning a bit of a cough. Now we could have used up 12 precious testing kits, but used a bit of common sense.

Believe me if any of us thought it was covid we would have isolated in an instant.

justasking111 · 12/09/2020 19:22

Oh and I have the rage now the insinuation today being that 50 plus year olds are now the highest in rising cases because the little shits they raised that are now 18 plus are bringing it home. Angry I know exactly what that bloody nudge is, keep your young adults in line. Well raspberry farts to that.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 12/09/2020 19:48

Just checking in and waving hello.

I'm not sure what it's like with all of you but it's sunny here so I've dragged my sad self outside as much as possible over the last few days. I feel the need to in case we lose more freedoms or the weather is shit for weeks soon. Tomorrow I am meeting with EIGHT people in a park just because I still can. We will all stand far apart and behave ourselves but it still feels delightfully rebellious and will be fun.

I'm so sad to see a noticeable increase of people posting on this site generally about not feeling they're coping./are scared of more lockdowns. There must be so many people feeling desperate. I know I have my moments.

wanderings · 12/09/2020 19:51

Sigh. We need a public backlash against Her Majesty's Clowns trying to blame us; the trouble is, even if they're messing up everything else, they're playing their cards well enough to keep the public scared and docile. We the gloom-fest "the virus is spreading again, it's back to square one if you're not careful" yesterday, and the public are terrified that if they try to hit back, the government will confiscate something else.

Can't cope with the "when are schools gonna close again" threads. One op doing the "I told you so" rubbing her hands together with glee that some bubbles have popped. Vile human beings on here.

I can't cope with schools closing I just cant I mean ok this time my job is safe and I can work from home but I cannot lock up my child for a second time.

wanderings · 12/09/2020 19:57

And seeing a comment on the BBC news dementor central, someone said "if the restrictions are urgently needed, why didn't they introduce them straight away? Why wait until Monday?"

My cynical guess is that that the gov want people to go party-mad this weekend, so they can blame them; or they want to appear reasonable enough not to disrupt the kids' birthday parties this weeekend.

BogRollBOGOF · 12/09/2020 20:02

I keep clinging on to the fact that more people are being openly critical about the logic of some measures and arguing against the dementors. Back in April it pretty much was just us and a handful of others. Now discussion is far more split down the middle.

I know it feels like we're going backwards, but children are in school, much of the leisure industry is functioning. Community groups are beginning to function. Retail is open. People are creeping back to work places.
It's not normal. Some things are very not normal. But it is progress.

That had occurred to cynical me. I'm glad my friends' have been able to hold their child's birthday party with their families and friends arriving in different shifts. Let people hold their last hurrah (then use it against them in a couple of weeks... Hmm )

But don't you see your actions - the rule bending and breaking - may lead to the schools having to close again?

I don't think anyone wants it , they just have more foresight than you appear to.

Littlebelina · 12/09/2020 20:34

Had a lovely walk today, somewhere not been for ages. Coffee seems to my drug of choice over booze now, is that just because I'm getting old? Grin

I don't know who the fuck you are but I haven't been bending or breaking any rules.

You know what I've never liked coffee but I so wish I did. Sometimes tea just doesn't cut it does it?
Bollss · 12/09/2020 20:45

I've uploaded this once but it's not here so there's every possibility I've posted it on a random thread Grin

bakingcupcakes · 12/09/2020 20:47

I love coffee. I like tea too but because it makes me wee all the time it's a bit of a no-no if we want to go anywhere.

We went fruit&veg picking today. Accidentally spent a load in the farm shop while we were there too. It was good. All very normal and the play area was back open.

PinkFondantFancy · 12/09/2020 20:52

@TrustTheGeneGenie actual LOLs. I'd love to know where else you've posted it.

Hello all, apologies for the radio silence. I've been so busy breaking all the rules I haven't had time for MNing, it's exhausting

PinkFondantFancy · 12/09/2020 20:53

I've made it back in time for page 33, not a chance of catching you all up!
