Hi 👋 Thought in these crazy times would be nice to speak to others also looking for work for a bit of support!
Finding it really tough at the moment with hundreds of applicants applying for the same roles as me. Starting to get pretty deflated really!
Anyone else currently looking? How are you finding it?

Hello that's rubbish when they are just going through the motions, what a waste of your time and energy.

SMarshian none (training will be provided) but I had and have close family with conditions such as dementia, so I'm hoping I won't be too clueless.

BaldAndWild · 10/09/2020 14:11

cricketmum that sucks, I'm sorry.

Poppingballoons · 10/09/2020 14:30

Oooh, I'll join! I've just had an interview and assessment for one job and then another first stage assessment for another. I hadn't done an interview for a few years and forgot how much preparation they require! But no resting now, need to keep pushing on with my other applications.

Hello government jobs always do this, it's a real pain and such a waste of everyone's time.

Today has seen an interview where one of the panel members looked a little bored - i'm hoping that was more her general demeanour as opposed to her being totally disinterested in my answers!!!

Have also just had the "you've been unsuccessful" email following an interview at the beginning of the week

Back to the applications we go 😕

Hiremee · 10/09/2020 15:58

Good luck to everyone hunting/interviewing!

I had a zoom interview that lasted 10 mins today so I’m guessing that’s not a great sign. She would barely let me speak.

Had another ‘informal chat’ phone call who said they’d get back to me by the end of next week if they want to interview (Confused) and a company who said they’d get back to me by the end of the day yesterday to let me know if I’ve got an interview, didn’t.

I started of this week feeling positive about things being booked in but now feel even worse!

Hi, just discovered this thread.
I've been looking since April, nearly a hundred applications, only a couple of interviews and lots of thanks but no thanks Sad.
Really dispondent some days but great to hear others are having luck, maybe some will come my way!

EmbarrassedUser · 11/09/2020 16:55

Yay @HelloCanYouHearMe What sort of role is it?

Hiremee · 12/09/2020 09:10

Good luck Therealabbeyclancy

OP posts:
HelloCanYouHearMe · 12/09/2020 09:59

@EmbarrassedUser it's a project management role, but slightly different sector to what i've worked in previously

BaldAndWild · 16/09/2020 19:15

That's great news, Hello!

I was told I'd been successful for the clinical support role but couldn't take it due to the shift aspect.

Had an interview over teams today, don't think I've been successful, but I've applied for other jobs and I've seen an interesting looking role with a deadline of Friday.
The salary isn't given though, so I guess that means low pay.

HappyStep1 · 16/09/2020 19:38

@Hiremee Thanks!
@HelloCanYouHearMe Interesting, I'm also applying for PM jobs and although there's quite a few around a lot of construction that I have no experience in

thegcatsmother · 17/09/2020 00:29

Have just banged in another application for the Civil Service, but again, it's for a six month only post. Have an interview next week with another HMG agency, so will see how that goes.

I have all my teaching qualifications, but resigned in 2006 to follow dh abroad on military postings and have just done team leading for GCSE examining for an exam board since. The Civil Service doesn't seem interested in your age, which is great as I'm mid 50s next year.

I've applied for 8 jobs, and got three interviews so far.

BaldAndWild · 18/09/2020 18:30

I didn't get the job, wasn't expecting to (surprised to get the interview tbh as I didn't have some "essential" skills) yet am feeling really disappointed, probably because I don't have any more interviews lined up.

I just want to sleep and not care.
Maybe I'll become an Etsy sensation.

Don’t be disheartened if you don’t find anything straight away. I advertised for an admin officer job and received over a 1000 applicants, most of them really over qualified. It’s not you, it’s the crazy unemployment rate!

WinoLino · 04/03/2021 13:38

Can I join this group? Been looking for a few months, two interviews, no luck. Applied for a role in Public Health and waiting to hear if I have an interview.

It is so depressing! Hello and good luck to all!

WinoLino · 12/03/2021 21:09

How are people doing? Applied for 5 roles over past week...

WinoLino · 17/03/2021 20:16

@Hiremee how are things with you?

Animum2 · 17/03/2021 20:47

I've been looking because our company is moving the division to Leeds from Kent, it's been a struggle to find anything, I just get a lot of no thanks or nothing

Cyrently working back office in share dealing so settling trades making payments but I have 20 years admin experience but a lot of jobs now are very specific about needing experience in certain things which just makes it harder

WinoLino · 17/03/2021 20:57

@Animum2 I know how you feel, it's depressing huh? Just received another email to say I haven't been shortlisted
