What little things do you never pay full price for - even though you could.?.

A friend and I were discussing Charlie Bigham meals - and I said I only buy them when they are reduced. She agreed. We are both well paid professionals who can afford an expensive ready meal.

But we can't bring ourselves too....

Pringles. They’re so fucking expensive at full price and often on offer.

spence246 · 01/09/2020 19:54

Cathedral city cheese- only one dd will eat (and i've tried tricking her!)
Nesquik- for ds.

Dorobie · 01/09/2020 19:56

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

DH &I between us have discount cards for pretty much every major outdoor shop (through work, volunteering and clubs). We carefully price up and send the correct person to each shop for maximum discount. It has saved us several hundred pounds this year.
We do this.... BCU, BC, BMC 😀

teatowels.

i spend ages buying them when i have to and i keep them way longer than i ougvht to. any amount seems excessive for a fucking teatowel

Bonkersblond · 01/09/2020 19:58

New York Bagels full price currently £1.60, when DS first got a liking for these they were 99p, it’s the one product I’ve really noticed go up in price, always wait for the offers and stock up, He doesn’t like any other brand🙄

shas19 · 01/09/2020 19:59

Bagels. Only buy when they're £1. Also rolo yoghurts, 4 for £1 when sometimes its 2 for £1.50

caffeinebuzz · 01/09/2020 20:03

Most of my household items, dishwasher tablets, laundry tablets, toothpaste, shower gel, loo roll, etc. I always stock up when it's on offer and am gutted if I get caught short and have to shell out full price!

tapastapas · 01/09/2020 20:03

@SockYarn

Oh another thing - I have a really good pair of running leggings which I got in the sale at TK Maxx for about a tenner. Googled the brand and they're about £60 new! My current pair is on its last legs but there's no way I'm spending that on another pair.

Let's hope TK Maxx still have stock - or does anyone else know who stocks 90 degree by Reflex leggings??

@sockyarn Yes, they are fab- have about 3 pairs. They are intermittently in TK Maxx and they have a pair on their website at the moment
homemadecommunistrussia · 01/09/2020 20:04

Pringles
Triple dry, I always buy a couple and then just keep looking for an offer.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/09/2020 20:04

White stuff and Joules clothes. So expensive!

agododopushpineapple · 01/09/2020 20:04

Dishwasher tablets - always but whatever one is on offer.
Winter coat - always buy in the sale and garden furniture I always buy in winter (got £1000 off my last set from first seeing it in summer).

Autumnsloth · 01/09/2020 20:26

Ice cream and shampoo. It's always on sale somewhere.

BitOfFun · 01/09/2020 20:44

Kindle books, definitely.

Ghostlyglow · 01/09/2020 21:08

Clothes and boots - always buy in sales or 2nd hand.

BikerWife · 01/09/2020 21:14

DH laughs at me because I like Ribena but I only buy it when it's on offer, just can't bring myself to pay full price for it! He always says 'just get it if you like it' but is seems so extravagant (despite the fact I will spend several times that amount on my favourite wine without batting an eyelid Grin!)

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 01/09/2020 21:15

Toilet roll and kitchen roll. I prefer cushelle and plenty and try to wait until they’re on offer and stock up. Nature valley cereal bars for ds.

lljkk · 01/09/2020 21:20

car parking... We routinely park 0.5-1 mile away rather than pay for closer. I shop in charity shops for clothes & shoes. Get more variety, colours, styles, sizes and better prices.

Lazysundayafternoons · 01/09/2020 21:22

Fairy washing tablet/pods. Always stock up when theyre on offer.
Branded Pizzas costing up to a fiver when you get Tesco branded pepperoni pizza for 60p.

Ideasplease322 · 01/09/2020 21:23

Dishwasher tablets.

Gap clothes

Boden clothes

CathyorClaire · 01/09/2020 21:26

Pretty much everything toiletry.

I'm a sucker for a deal and I don't blink first.

Bollocksitshappenedagain · 01/09/2020 21:34

Pringles

CeibaTree · 01/09/2020 21:40

Joules and Start-rite. Their sales are just too good!

rainwaterflow · 01/09/2020 21:40

Yes to everyone who said Pringles. I find the non-sales price outrageous!

I don’t think I’ve paid full price in the Body Shop since the 90s.

Bollocksitshappenedagain · 01/09/2020 21:40

Worth subscribing to hot deals uk. I got 125 fairy platinum dishwasher tablets for £7 last week. Highlight of my week!
always buy on offer but never that good!

PersonaNonGarter · 01/09/2020 21:50

Yes to Gu pots, coffee and ice cream - these are definitely discount only purchases. Also fancy Pukka teas.

I don’t think I’ve paid the RRP on any clothes except pants bras and socks in ages. I always wait for a sale or discount offer.

I guess this approach to clothing is the same as most shoppers and it’s even more of a phenomenon now we aren’t in physical shops for the ‘purchase now’ effect. Not sure this is fooling the Clothing retailers though - almost all the clothes retailers seem to have significantly increased prices. For example, where last year the tops were £60 full price, this year they are £80. I think they are pricing in reductions in the knowledge that we’re all waiting for the sale.
