What little things do you never pay full price for - even though you could.?.

A friend and I were discussing Charlie Bigham meals - and I said I only buy them when they are reduced. She agreed. We are both well paid professionals who can afford an expensive ready meal.

But we can't bring ourselves too....

Pizza express supermarket pizzas, peanut butter, babybels, time out wafers - these always have deals tho. So if i pay full price i feel cheated lol. I cant think of anything else.

SheSellSeaShells · 01/09/2020 15:50

Cheese strings - I only buy them in whichever supermarket they have them on offer, they usually are in one of them.

AudTheDeepMinded · 01/09/2020 15:52

@kleew1 I got a load of reduced 6 packs of babybels today for 67p each, short dated but they're cheese for goodness sake not prawns! That's youngest DS's school snacks sorted out for a few weeks!

cheesecrackersandchips · 01/09/2020 15:53

Parking. I never pay to park if I can possibly get away with it.

cheesecrackersandchips · 01/09/2020 15:54

I mean I park and walk- not commit fraud Hmm

JacobReesMogadishu · 01/09/2020 15:54

Chocolate....not paying 80p a bar!

So I pay £1.20 and eat 3 bars! 😂🙈

BlueBoar · 01/09/2020 15:56

Sea salt socks

ghostmous3 · 01/09/2020 15:56

Belvita biscuits

AlwaysLatte · 01/09/2020 15:56

There are certain things that are always half price at some time or another, so I never buy them full price - Pringles, Azeera coffee (I keep it at my mums because I usually hate instant! 🤣), Bliss yoghurts, anything really that I regularly buy, then I buy loads to keep us going till the next time.

H1978 · 01/09/2020 15:56

I’m an avid cereal bar eater but only buy the branded ones when on offer. Not sure why as even in the same the difference is sometimes only about 20p.

SockYarn · 01/09/2020 15:58

Oh another thing - I have a really good pair of running leggings which I got in the sale at TK Maxx for about a tenner. Googled the brand and they're about £60 new! My current pair is on its last legs but there's no way I'm spending that on another pair.

Let's hope TK Maxx still have stock - or does anyone else know who stocks 90 degree by Reflex leggings??

WeAllHaveWings · 01/09/2020 16:01

Coffee - Ridiculously expensive, I don't drink it, dh drinks way too much. I do the shopping so he get's whatever has money off. Usually have 10+ jars in the cupboard from buying when on sale.

Pizza Express pizza in Tesco. £5 for a tiny pizza? Only buy when 1/2 price which is often.

Haagan Daz icecream

Fanta Zero

Wholetail Scampi

Dishwasher tablets

Probably more, but those are the ones that come to mind.

sunlight81 · 01/09/2020 16:01

Ben and Jerry's ice cream ... Netflix and chill is lush but we only buy it when it's on offer!!!

AvoidingRealHumans · 01/09/2020 16:01

Shampoo and pringles

BlastedMolluscum · 01/09/2020 16:01

@PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle

I'm with Arietty. Nivea is great! I won't buy branded cereals. Generic ones are just as good.
A friend of mine works in a cereal factory, I can confirm that exactly the same multigrain hoops are reboxed for at least 3 different supermarkets.
cariadlet · 01/09/2020 16:13

I use Original Source shower gel. It's on offer so often that I could never pay full price.

TildaKauskumholm · 01/09/2020 16:13

Most things I suppose, was brought up in a frugal household.

MadCattery · 01/09/2020 16:15

Razors. They are half price with a coupon and stupid expensive without. Cat food, buy a lot when it’s bogo.

HalfBloodPrincess · 01/09/2020 16:19

Kids clothes.

I buy shoes and coats new but everything else is from charity shops and eBay.

Choccyp1g · 01/09/2020 16:20

I try not to pay "full-price" for anything that is regularly reduced.

The way I see it is they are still making a profit at the offer price, and sometimes they put it up sky-high to make a bigger profit.

I absolutely agree.

Car parking - i hate paying to park. It's £3.70 for 2 hours in my local shopping Centre. I can park in the local supermarket, purchase something for £1 for free parking and walk in.

GolightlyMrsGolightly · 01/09/2020 16:39

Plants - someone said plants upthread. I'll buy plug plants for perennials for 99p - even though I know it'll take hours of my time in potting on, using compost to grow plants that won't look like anything for 2 to 3 years or even more - probably won't survive slugs and I should just shell out for a decent sized plant.

Cuttings too.....though they give a great satisfaction.

Cooking sauces in jars. If they are more than £1.00 I don't buy them.

Many things I buy only when they are reduced or on offer if it is something I use anyway. I have a stock of laundry and cleaning products that would fill a warehouse, however I only use certain ones so don't buy the stinky stuff.

Toilet paper, same as above.

CarolVordermansArse · 01/09/2020 16:40

Aveeno, only on offer too.
