I'm listening to a combine harvester working in the field opposite my house. It's quite a sinister sound even though I know what it is.

What can you hear right now?

OP posts:
Hedgesfullofbirds · 31/08/2020 21:35

Owls hooting, sheep bleating and, way off in the distance, some cattle gently lowing

Kleptronic · 31/08/2020 21:35

LCD soundsystem: daft punk is playing at my house.

Hedgesfullofbirds · 31/08/2020 21:37

Oh, and complete silence from the beautiful, stunning moon - sitting outside, with a cup of tea, just gazing at it in awe

Moonflower12 · 31/08/2020 21:39

Dspaniel snoring and mama Mia that DD is watching.

FenellaMaxwell · 31/08/2020 21:40

DS3 snoring through the baby monitor, the dog whiffing contentedly as I rub her belly, DH typing on his laptop, the neighbour at the back’s son playing the piano. I think it’s Chopin but I’m rubbish at recognising classical music. We’ve got the windows open to listen - he’s really good.

dementedma · 31/08/2020 21:40

Rain sounds on Alexa.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 31/08/2020 21:41

Today notable noises have been tractors, geese flying overhead and hot air balloons. ATM Mamma Mia 2 and DD2 crunching ice cubes!

Sparticle · 31/08/2020 21:42

Absolutely nothing. DS and DH are on their iPads, headphones on. I’m on MN (obv), we love rurally spring no outside or neighbour noise. Lovely stuff.
(We are thinking of moving back to the city in the next year or so and I will miss this peace!)

HowFastIsTooFast · 31/08/2020 21:43

DP playing on my the Switch. If I lean my head out the window a bit though I can just about hear the sea 🙂

daisypond · 31/08/2020 21:44

Clock ticking. Cat grooming herself. Very, very faint radio in bathroom. Train trundling by in the distance.

Sparticle · 31/08/2020 21:44

*we live rurally so no outside...

HowFastIsTooFast · 31/08/2020 21:44

@Kleptronic

LCD soundsystem: daft punk is playing at my house.
That track was my EXHs alarm tone for years. It still makes me panic that I've slept in Grin
daisypond · 31/08/2020 21:45

I live in central Zone 2 London. I’m often surprised how quiet it is.

Drogonssmile · 31/08/2020 21:46

DH snoring in the spare room and DCat purring at the end of the bed. We've been away over the weekend and I'd like to think she's missed us and nothing to do with the packet of Dreamies she knows I have hidden in the bedside drawer

DSs are thankfully fast asleep and quiet after bickering all the way home in the car.

Shinyletsbebadguys · 31/08/2020 21:47

The low hum of dp's computer which annoyingly I've begun to find soothing , the dog running around trying to find dp and somehow missing him returning to the room not so quietly because she is not the brightest tool in the box

Bothered me earlier as we heard a small DC cry in the road outside so similar to ds2 (which is currently not well) that one went to check on ds2 and the other checked the window , I'm not judgy as a rule but ds2 is 4 Nd this child sounded exactly the same and it was late and dark . I know ther may have been a perfectly reasonable explanation but it felt wierd. Stupid I know.

Lonelycrab · 31/08/2020 21:48

The M3

Punctuated by the odd boy racer on the backroads nearby

AriettyHomily · 31/08/2020 21:48

@Babs709

Not a lot over the snoring dog!!!!!!!
Same here!
Bananaman123 · 31/08/2020 21:49

the fan in my bedroom, my dog snoring at the bottom of the bed and my very loud dp getting ready for bed

PickAChew · 31/08/2020 21:50

Telly (QI)
Passing traffic
Ds2 wittering on about episodes of something or other.
Tumbke dryer.
Not the the washer so the bugger probably turned it off again before he came in here.

Winter2019 · 31/08/2020 21:53

Train in distance

MusicianTom · 31/08/2020 21:55

My downstairs neighbour having a shower/ their bathroom fan, traffic noise at the end of the road, and my tinnitus.

cherryblossommorningstoday · 31/08/2020 21:55

DS1 turning over relentlessly in bed (whilst I lay on his floor as he won't go to sleep without someone in the room). He's 7!

SimonJT · 31/08/2020 21:56

Boyfriend snoring (through a shut door!), a drunk man wailing and walking very very slowly past our building.

Crunchymum · 31/08/2020 21:57

TV on low (we aren't watching anything, it's just on in background) and kids giggling like maniacs (we go away tomorrow for a mini break before school and they are so excited, bless them!!)

Serena1977 · 31/08/2020 21:57

The drier whirring, my husband snoring and the tennis commentary.
