What is the correct parcel etiquette?

If you get a card stating that your parcel is at your neighbours house, do you go and get it or should they bring it to you?

Go and get it.

iklboo · 31/08/2020 19:00

We always go to them. They've done us the favour of taking it in, we don't expect them to play Postman Pat for us.

GreyishDays · 31/08/2020 19:00

Agree.

Definitely go & get it

MrMeSeeks · 31/08/2020 19:02

You go get Ofcourse. You don’t wait for them to bring it round Confused This isn’t going to be a reverse...?

M0nstermunch · 31/08/2020 19:02

Go and get it. They have done a favour by taking it in, they can be expected to bring it round as well.

riotlady · 31/08/2020 19:11

Go and get it

Elouera · 31/08/2020 19:13

I'd go and get it! They may not know when you are in and its not their responsibility to keep knocking and checking when I'm in!!! Confused

Why are you asking???

purplecorkheart · 31/08/2020 19:15

Go and get. Obviously if they work nights do not call first thing in the morning etc

Boireannachlaidir · 31/08/2020 19:16

You go and get it and thank them for taking it in.

If you've taken it in and they don't come for it then either text them if you have their number obvs after a few days go and see if they are in?

Palavah · 31/08/2020 19:17

Do you expect them to bring you a cup of tea in the morning as well?

iklboo · 31/08/2020 19:18

Maybe the OP has the parcel for a neighbour.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 31/08/2020 19:18

If you have the card go and get it.

If you think they have a card and should come to you they may not have a card so give it a day then take it round. Express shock that postie didn't leave a card.

AvoidingRealHumans · 31/08/2020 19:20

Its not a reverse but wanted opinions as I also go and get the parcel but I've taken a parcel in for a neighbour (don't know him, only a pleasant good morning in passing etc) and I've had it since Friday and he's not come and got it yet. He is in as I've seen his car come and go.
He has previous for this, the last time was a crate of wine that I couldn't lift, I had it 10 days waiting to see when he would come and get it but he didn't, I had to get someone to help me carry it to his.
I wanted to gauge whether it is reasonable to expect the neighbour to hand deliver your parcel when they've kindly taken it in.
Might I add that I was having my one 'no alarm day' and the courier woke me at 8am 🙄

Go and get it, definitely. Sometimes we do take parcels round if we’ve taken things in, and our neighbours bring things they’ve taken in for us, but the onus is on you to collect ASAP.

Thegirlhasnoname · 31/08/2020 19:21

You go and get it.

Unless you’re my neighbour who leaves it for days to the point where you get irritated at the sight of it (it wasn’t a small parcel!)...

NaughtipussMaximus · 31/08/2020 19:22

Or on them to collect, as the case may be!

AvoidingRealHumans · 31/08/2020 19:22

Oh and I watched the courier drop the card through his door and he took a photo of parcel on my step so he could track it that way too.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 31/08/2020 19:23

A crate of wine for 10 days? I'd have drunk it.

Pop a note through his door telling him to fetch his parcel.

Henio · 31/08/2020 19:29

Just politely refuse to take anymore in for him, he shouldn't expect you to take it to him

FunkSoulBrother · 31/08/2020 19:29

I say wait for them to come round for it.

He has form though, so he MUST come to you,.see if he goes more than 10 days this time. Grin

lifesalongsong · 31/08/2020 19:32

There is no correct etiquette, this thread is posted most weeks on here and once you've read about 37 of them you'll soon see that there's no concensus Grin

2bazookas · 31/08/2020 19:32

Go and get it.

AlwaysCheddar · 31/08/2020 19:34

When he collects it tell him you were about to return it!
