I can’t believe how cold it is...

Ok, I know this is the U.K., but it’s only August and I think it was only 3 weeks ago that it was incredibly hot and I was sleeping with the fan on. Tonight I am sitting in bed in a jumper and bed socks. I am in London by the way.

Just come home from the pub, and shivered all the way.

Goldistheanswer · 29/08/2020 22:54

In Hertfordshire and we’ve got the heating on as the teenagers were all “freezing”.

My teen was complaining about the cold too but I made her put more layers on! But I am sure it’s colder where you are.

In Oxfordshire and had the electric fire on this evening. I’m feeling a bit resentful, tbh. Although we had a lovely warm spring here.

purrswhileheeats · 29/08/2020 22:59

I'll swap places with you OP. I want to be cold. Just for ten minutes, icy icy cold.. Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 29/08/2020 23:01

I’m super stingy about heating, everyone has to wear a jumper and as many socks as they can manage to walk in. But DD woke up with freezing feet despite a long sleeved vest and grobag she’s also got socks now, and slippers, and the heating is on. In bloody August. Ridiculous. A fortnight ago I was struggling to keep us all cool enough to sleep.

Goldistheanswer · 29/08/2020 23:03

I think the damp is making it feel colder although I’m always feeling hot so it’s quite nice for me. But then everyone moans when I’ve got the windows open.

Littlepond · 29/08/2020 23:06

South east here and I’m in bed with the window open! I’m hot!

Cuddling57 · 29/08/2020 23:22

I've got my winter pjs on!

startswithanL · 29/08/2020 23:24

I've been out tonight and absolutely frozen!!!

formerbabe · 29/08/2020 23:26

Watched my ds play football this morning...it felt like winter. Only three weeks ago it was over 35 degrees and I was panicking he'd faint in the heat!

ErrolTheDragon · 29/08/2020 23:26

It's nearly September- yesterday had that crisp 'back to school' bite to it, just a few days early.

There's still time for more warm weather but coolness about now isn't exactly unusual.

Quaagars · 29/08/2020 23:26

Absolutely bloody freezing, had to put the heating on and I never usually do that until Nov/Dec - much rather stick a jumper on lol.
Today though?!
It's like the middle of winter!
Hard to believe was so insanely hot last week and was sat here sweating!

Wannabegreenfingers · 29/08/2020 23:27

Its cold. The temperature in my car hasn't risen above 11.5 degrees all day!!

TheCanyon · 29/08/2020 23:32

We've had an electrician and plumber in all day today to rewire, move pipes and fit a new shower. I was so cold at one point I was aimlessly walking bout upstairs moaning just wanting to hit the thermostat. Ended up with two thick pairs of cosy jammies on.

I don't do cold, obviously. I have reynauds and a neurological condition that's worsened by the cold though

Quaagars · 29/08/2020 23:33

Careful, you'll have someone from Canada or somewhere equally cold temperature wise come on saying "Cold? Don't know the meaning of the word, it' gets to minus 40 here!" lol

Schools back here in scotland which of course meant a day or two of sun after. I've just packed all my sandals away, that's sunny season done!
Kaiserin · 29/08/2020 23:44

South East, and it was distinctly chilly this evening. Smelt like winter. Very odd.

tobee · 29/08/2020 23:55

We are often on holiday staying in s/c cottage this week in August the past few years and have had to stick the heating on. 🥶 Not so much at home though.

Dramalady52 · 30/08/2020 00:03

East Midlands, and last night was freezing. Shivering under me 4.5 tog duvet, and thinking it had been only a week ago it was unbearably warm. Started planning to get the thicker duvet and electric blanket back on and it's only August!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 30/08/2020 00:09

I gutted out my wardrobe today and put all my summer stuff away in a suitcase - including two dresses I haven't even worn yet! It's been wet for weeks and now it's freezing too.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/08/2020 00:19

I just looked at the forecast, it shouldn't be as cold next week.

tobee · 30/08/2020 00:31

👍 to that forecast!

Nsky · 30/08/2020 00:33

Def cold and dark

bumblingbovine49 · 30/08/2020 00:35

I can't bear this cold. It is worse than winter because DH doesn't like to put the heating on yet. I can't concentrate when I am cold . Even in the awful heat we had, I could work and forget about bodily discomfort of I was focussed enough on work . I just can't do that if I am cold
