What would you do with a second lounge?

We are in the process of buying a house that has a little (4 x 2.5M) room off the kitchen that the current owners use as another little lounge/tv room.

As it's just me and DP we dont really need another TV room so just musing over what to do with it!

We are having an office/study upstairs so that's taken care of.

Has anyone got any dreamy ideas I can start obsessing over? I do like the idea of a music room but I only play the piano very badly!

Library. Big squash reading chairs, some lovely lamps and walls filled floor to ceiling with book shelves. Maybe some kind of radio/stereo/speaker system.

I’d use it as a reading room / library

Build bookshelves over the whole of one / two walls, put in a wood burning stove, a love seat or two, some bean bags and soft reading lamps

Blissful

We have 2 lounges - second one is upstairs and has a comfy sofa, sky tv and a drum kit in it. Other than the drum kit which I’d gladly see the back of I love it. It’s a little escape from the house.

I’d turn it into a reading nook or something.

Library/sewing room.

AmberShadesofGold · 29/08/2020 12:10

Totally a reading room - with magazines and books and comfy chairs and a table for coffee.

Dazedandconfused10 · 29/08/2020 12:10

Gaming room / library

DominaShantotto · 29/08/2020 12:10

Right now after all the months of working from home I'd use it as a husband jail.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/08/2020 12:11

If it’s close to the kitchen I’d have a massive fuck off pantry for storing everything in.

Nixen · 29/08/2020 12:12

Right now it would be a playroom.
When my DD is older, a snug / library?

Newstart20 · 29/08/2020 12:18

I'd use it as a laundry room with an airer and ironing board set up. Plus dog/cat bed and lots of wall storage

Yes I’d do this too, extra freezer and storage for pans, dishes and food.
trickyex · 29/08/2020 12:19

I would say laundry/utility room or pantry but it depends on your house and what you have /need.
Could you post a floor plan OP?

Yes!! Genius.

My snug is above my kitchen and actually used to be connected by stairs as it was originally the maids room. Wish it still was!

Oh yes I’d love to leave the ironing board up.

Spare freezers, I have a tiny table top one and it’s so fucking useful. Especially at Christmas or batch cooking.

Yankathebear · 29/08/2020 12:30

Ours has a futon for over night guests or if we are on opposite shifts, two big book shelves and a record player. It’s where I go to chill, read, listen to music and crochet when DH is watching shit tv.

Stompythedinosaur · 29/08/2020 12:42

I'd have a board games room with shelves for our collection and a good sized table to play at.

I have a friend who has this and I am very jealous!

CarolVordermansArse · 29/08/2020 12:59

Studio, unless it was dark. Otherwise would take another room and let someone else use it as an office or study.

Bargebill19 · 29/08/2020 13:04

Hobby room or laundry/utility type room.

sqirrelfriends · 29/08/2020 13:10

I would quite like a hobby room for me or man cave for DH.

In reality it would end up as a play room for DS which he would never use.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 29/08/2020 13:10

Another vote for a library.
Mine and DD’s dream house (for when we win the lottery) has 4 rooms downstairs. We’ve already agreed one is going to be a library, another is going to be a gym/music room.
I suppose we should start doing the lottery.

beela · 29/08/2020 13:11

I would use it as a library. Dh would say music room. Probably wouldn't be allowed to do both, as I expect the books would ruin the acoustics Hmm

Ds would have a gaming room or a gym, and DD would vote for a crafting room. Or a walk in wardrobe.

Realistically, I think we'd need to use it as a home office now both mine and dh's offices are showing no signs of reopening.

morefun · 29/08/2020 13:12

I'd have an art studio. Really cosy reading room?

BirdsDoIt · 29/08/2020 13:14

Ooh reading room / sewing room definitely!

FallonsTeaRoom · 29/08/2020 13:18

Reading room with all the books on shelves and a squashy sofa, with lamps. Bliss.

RhymesWithOrange · 29/08/2020 13:21

Sex dungeon?

Soft play room?

Shark aquarium?
