What's everyone up to today?

lucysmam · 29/08/2020 09:43

I'm just having my usual cuppa, in the kitchen, in silence. There's no washing to be done (hit the bottom of the basket yesterday & there isn't enough in there for a load now Shock ).

We were going to have a walk into town but it's forecasting rain later on so might have 'Sunday' dinner today, and a walk to town tomorrow instead, when the forecast's better. We only really need a few bits from Home Bargains, school tights from Primarni, and a pencil case for dd1.

If we don't go to town, me and dd2 will check our sugar crystals and she wanted to bake donuts so we'll probably do that. Dd1 will more than likely watch more Vampire Diaries & pop downstairs to say hello every now and again.

I have a short to-do list for my Rainbows and Guides that I'd like to get done before going back to work so may start that soon, before everyone's up. Oh, and I have an amazon basket to check out, so I'll do that too!

What about you lot?

Need to cut the grass soon before the rain hits. My mum is here now and my stepdad will be here shortly, he is doing his famous curry for dinner so looking forward to that.
They're heading home in the morning and I will iron and label new uniform ready for Wednesday, in the evening I need to start an earlier bedtime routine for my boys so they're ready for school wake ups this week. Nothing much else really, maybe watch some films and we'll have roast pork dinner tomorrow.
Enjoy your weekend

funtimefrank · 29/08/2020 09:59

Honestly I'm a bit bored.

Kids watching tat on the tv, dh having a sneaky game.

I need to clean the bathroom but otherwise we blitzed the house yesterday, did all the shopping and I batch cooked all afternoon so freezer full. Washing done.

I am back to work on Tuesday after 2 weeks off so I could clear my holiday emails in preparation. But I don't want to.

I need to do some exercise but I don't know what. I toyed with going for a light jog but I think that ship has sailed. I'd quite like to go for a long walk but dh will insist it's a full family affair whereas I'd like to chuck on a podcast and go. I should also do some yoga at some point.

I am also meant to be getting my diet in check as it's been a bit crappy/ recently but yesterday I made a cake and I have a sourdough loaf to finish.

Honestly I should post on the dull thread

Boredbumhead · 29/08/2020 10:08

I've done most of the school prep shopping already, so now it's just in to town for haircuts for my two ds. Then perhaps beach for a bit? Take a book or two and a blanket to sit on. I need to start more exercise but that's hard as my little ones are young. Mulling over my life and feeling a sense of both relief and concern about children going back to school next week.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/08/2020 10:14

Taking DS to the barbers to get a haircut ready for school starting. Then we'll have a nice walk, maybe stop off at the park and have an ice cream. Then dropping DS at my mum's, she's babysitting tonight as it's my big 30th this weekend so I'm headed out for a few drinks with friends.

sitckmansladylove · 29/08/2020 10:25

Not sure what to do for the day. DC have gone to the park with DH. I crept back into bed Grin when I had the chance. Going to do my grocery shopping in the morning so I we are free to do whatever.. but that might be a trip to the local shopping centre for bits and pieces.

sitckmansladylove · 29/08/2020 10:26

Happy Birthday wax enjoy!

lucysmam · 29/08/2020 10:37

@funtimefrank I think I'll be a bit bored later too! So far, everyones still asleep, I'm burning through my to do list!

@Waxonwaxoff0 have a fab time with your friends! Happy birthday Thanks

@Boredbumhead I'm feeling slightly apprehensive about back to school for us all too 😕

@AvoidingRealHumans I did the ironing & labelling earlier this week. Just dd2's PE shirt to do as that only arrived on Thursday. I bloody hate ironing!

Lazy day today. Dp has a bit of a hangover after a family bbq yesterday, so I’m being lovely and letting him have a long lay-in.

Dd and I are in jimjams watching Frozen2 for the 800th time. Will meander to the shop in a bit to pick up stuff for lunch.

Had a hectic couple of weeks so kind of glad it’s raining and we can just hold up inside not doing a lot tbh!

HelloCanYouHearMe · 29/08/2020 10:41

Its my weekend with DS, so we've done some housework (DS likes to help out and lets me know when ive missed a bit!) And im now having a coffee and a gingerbrwad man and DS is watching Peppa Pig.

Off out for a walk after lunch to hunt some pokemon then home for dinner and snuggles in front of a disney-type film

Crylittlesister · 29/08/2020 10:46

Happy birthday Wax!
I had friends round for dinner last night, so kitchen is a bomb site and I have a hangover that could kill a bear. Assuming I recover, i need to do some weeding if the rain holds off, sort out the kitchen and then loll on the sofa.

ilovebagpuss · 29/08/2020 10:50

I’m sitting in the quiet with a coffee DH Has gone to visit parents for the day we couldn’t go as we have the shoe hunting later.
DD’s still in rooms (going to be hard to get back to early starts)
I have to process some apples from the tree for freezer but I’m sitting mulling my existence instead!
Most school stuff organised just a feel a bit unsettled, my job is on its last legs and everything feels like a crossroads at the moment.
I should just get on with the apples that will ground me Grin

Mojitomogul · 29/08/2020 10:59

I love reading these threads, everyones day sounds so cosy and relaxed.
I am yet to get up, had a lovely lie in. Painting the bedroom today with a second coat so should be all dry by tomorrow to get everything back in and set up.
Have yoga at 1pm so looking forward to that. No urgent washing to get done apart from some handwash delicate pieces.
Will walk the dog at some point too, and then chicken and sweet potato curry for dinner Smile

FusionChefGeoff · 29/08/2020 11:25

@funtimefrank what do you want to do?! Your list is a rather glum list of what you feel you shouldn't do so I'd ignore all that crap for now and go for the long, solo, walk.

You'll probably find you're more up for tackling some of the other stuff when you get back.

Treat yourself to a nice day

FusionChefGeoff · 29/08/2020 11:25

Argh - SHOULD do, not shouldn't

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/08/2020 11:37

Thanks all!

ImaSababa · 29/08/2020 11:38

I'm watching YouTube vlogs on the sofa, enjoying what could be my last Saturday before the baby arrives!

DH is still abed, having stayed up until 4am watching some Israeli cop drama.

Kaiserin · 29/08/2020 11:50

I had breakfast in bed. Lazy day! (back to work-from-home soon, so making the most of my last stretch of annual leave)

Kaiserin · 29/08/2020 11:52

I'm feeling slightly apprehensive about back to school for us all too

Trying not to think about that one, but I had a bad dream about it last night (one of these: actually school was restarting yesterday, and we missed it!)

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/08/2020 11:54

I had a bit of a lie in then supervised DS's zoom karate class. I'm now knitting and MNing in peace with my 2nd cup of tea.

It's an easy day with beans or soup for lunch and I've just taken dinner out of the freezer so that will need reheating and some rice cooking.

I've got a click and collect to pick up after 2 and I need to pop into the fabric shop to get some felt for DD1 to finish a project.

I did shoe and stationery shopping with teen DS yesterday so I deserve a day of relative peace to recover.

RosieLemonade · 29/08/2020 12:10

We are helping my sister with her flat pack furniture. I’m useless so I’ve been sent to the butchers to get pork baguettes.
Then we are all going swimming. DD used to go twice a week and it’s the first time we’ve been able to go since March.

Planetaryexplorer · 29/08/2020 12:37

I am very bored. Currently sorting the three baskets of washing that have accrued since yesterday.
Have chicken in the oven for lunch followed by apple and blackberry crumble for pudding.
Ds' are faffing around upstairs. Dd1 is drawing and dd2 has gone to stay with her cousin. The house is quite quiet.
We are going to do some decorating this afternoon but honestly I'm so bored of it all.

Serena1977 · 29/08/2020 12:43

Had a nice lie in then had brunch. Off to the allotment shortly then pop to Next for a click and collect then family swim at the local pool.

Will be back home for showers then chilling. Corned beef hash for tea and some more of The Crown.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/08/2020 12:45

DM has been here all week and went home this morning. I'm not a natural host (even to my own mother) so am faintly relived TBH.

DS has gone to work, DH is at Waitrose picking up the click and collect and I'm MNetting with ChampagneCat changing the beds.

DH and I are then going for an afternoon drink, back for dinner then shower and early to bed into clean sheets. My 17yo self would be aghast at the 42yo me who is positively gleeful at this prospect Grin

Ughmaybenot · 29/08/2020 12:53

I’m having a really lovely day actually. Stayed in bed reading til 9, then walked the dog on the cliffs by our home. Got back and made some cookies, did a couple of loads of washing and hoovered etc, and now I’m out with DH checking to see if the corn is fit to cut. It’s not, it’s too wet and there is a slight sense of impending doom given the huge black cloud over our heads 👀
Later I will be taking DDog to the beach, and if it does rain, I’ll be on the sofa with a hot chocolate and a good book after that 😊

makingbacon · 29/08/2020 13:07

I love these threadsSmile

DH working, I took DDs to the park early this morning and then back for some TV and lunch. DD2 having a nap and I'm cuddling DD1 on the sofa watching a film. We'll all head out on a walk or go to the playground this afternoon.

No idea what's for dinner yet, will have to swing by the shops and pick up something quick to make.
