Etsy CV Templates

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 11:56

I've found a job I really want. I have a CV already done - but it's not very stand outty and for this job it will need to be. I've been looking on Etsy for a template but there's so much choice.

Thought I would put it out to the floor: what's your favourite Etsy CV Template please.

Unless you're applying for some kind of graphic design, ultra-modern job, using a fancy CV will look like you're trying too hard. The words need to speak for themselves.

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 11:59

@tectonicplates Not graphic design, but I do need a fancy CV. Graphic designers aren't the only industry who need to stand out.

I got an AMAZING one from Etsy and it was only a few £. It made SUCH a difference to my CV but I can't remember who I got it from.

There's my name on the top spaced out like this S i l v e r Y e l l o w if that helps?

@SilverYellow I feel this may be a bit needle in the haystack but thank you, I will keep an eye out for it.

When you say amazing, has it got you loads of jobs (technically, I only want one job, but I may need a Plan B)

Thank you!

This is a thing?!

How does it make you stand out? And if you can buy it on etsy, how does it make you stand out, not the designer?

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 12:10

@SarahAndQuack No, it's not a thing. I decided to make a random post based on lies.

It makes me stand out because it highlights my skills in something other than the dull black and white format they are now in. It's not a design role, I just need it to stand out on a table in a sea of other CVs.

If it's one particular job you want why dont you employ a cv writer to help out?

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 12:14

My CV writing skills are great - it's the stand out from a design point of view that I am looking for. I know how the sift is going to work and it will need to stand out.

I assume it's a creative role? I understand you want your CV to stand out but a good recruiter can spot a template CV a mile off.

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 12:18

No, it is not a creative role.

Seriously, I don't care if they realise it's a template. I just want them to see my CV in a sea of other CVs.

Starting to feel like a broken record here. Maybe if you don't want to answer the OP, move along?

Genuinely seems try hard. All the ones I've seen that are "fancy" seem to be disguising their CV isn't strong. And no amount of fanciness will hide the fact you don't have the experience or skill required. And if you do meet the criteria then you don't need the fancy graphics.

Todaythiscouldbe · 27/08/2020 12:20

Wow. Ok. Your attitude is delightful.

KurriKawari · 27/08/2020 12:22

Ok just had a look at Etsy and tbh there are some nice toned down versions on there that aren't OTT.

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 12:23

My attitude is fine - I've asked a specific question and I am getting responses that I don't need or want, and haven't asked for. I've explained several times. I have the skill set, I have a very well-worded CV, I just need it to stand out due to how the sift is going to work.

100 CVs on a table - I want mine to be one of the ones they pick up.

OP posts:
KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 12:25

@KurriKawari that's sort of what I am thinking of going with. Something with a nice font but not wild colours but different enough from the black and white two column one I have now.

OP posts:
WaffleCash · 27/08/2020 12:26

It makes me stand out because it highlights my skills in something other than the dull black and white format they are now in

Requiring a template highlights that you don't actually have these skills

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 12:28

@WaffleCash No, right now I don't have the time - it's a very short deadline. And had you read the thread, I am not applying for a creative role.

OP posts:
NewnameOldposter · 27/08/2020 12:28

I get it.

You're not looking for whacky/crazy etc. You just want to do anything you can to set your CV apart.

Good design can do that.

A very simple, clean, well designed CV will look better and give a slight edge over someone with similar skills/experience.

Do you have any you like and want to post for feedback?

rainkeepsfallingdown · 27/08/2020 12:29

It would be helpful if you commented on what industry you're in.

I've had a look on Etsy and the ones with photos/colour would be an absolute no in my line of work, but there are some toned down black and white ones which use white space well.

Incidentally, I read all CVs that are sent to me and I bin the ones where they obviously don't have the right experience. I don't bin the ones that look 'boring.'

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 12:32

Thank you for the last two comments. It's split industry - predominantly third sector though.

I think I like this one but would swap the photograph to my initials as I am not a fan of photographs on CV and I don't want to highlight my ethnicity.

Sorry, I don't know much about Etsy, but have you had a look at Canva? It's a great design tool I use for reports, presentations etc. I think they have CV templates- if not it would be easy to recreate what you want if you're creative. They do a free trial so you could cancel after.

VelvetRibbon · 27/08/2020 13:03

Just checked- the do CV templates under 'Resumes'

Byallmeans · 27/08/2020 13:07

Have a look on fivesquid. You’ll find find loads on there
