Covid results

Hi, I know a lot of these threads have been made but can't see any for this month, and with the covid situation constantly changing I thought I'd ask again.

What is the time you waited to get your covid test results back? I have a test mid-day tomorrow and was wondering how long I will have to wait, the sooner the better haha

Do had a test 2 weeks ago at 11.30 am results were back 6am next morning

Vali2 · 23/08/2020 19:36

That's reassuring, I've no symptoms and have been told no need to self isolate but had been near someone with covid. But don't want to miss too much work if possible

I had a test at 11.30am and got my results that night. Very impressed with the speed.

My son had a test 11am on Sunday, he had the results by 10am the next day.

netflixismysidehustle · 23/08/2020 19:38

My son had a test at 1:30 today.
Apparently 91% know within 24 hours

Vali2 · 23/08/2020 19:40

That's great to hear, the website does say possibly within 24 hours but can be 48 hours which would mean issues with work

OP posts:
lughnasadh · 23/08/2020 19:41

You surely aren't going to take time off work with no symptoms and no contact with a confirmed case?

IamAporcupine · 23/08/2020 19:45

Took the test at 6pm got the results at 1pm following day

BikeTyson · 23/08/2020 19:48

Why would it cause issues with work when you’ve been told there’s no need to isolate?

quarentini · 23/08/2020 19:54

Test 1245 results 30 hours later

Makedo · 23/08/2020 19:59

The guidance in Scotland says that if track and trace have said you are a close contact and you get a negative test result you cannot return to work- you have to quarantine for the whole period.

(I think- was trying to make sense of it earlier). Guidance elsewhere may differ.

I've had contact with someone with covid but not for prolonged periods of time thankfully, but multiple times throughout the day.

The NHS said If I don't have symptoms and track and trace don't seem me to have been exposed long enough too them, I don't have to isolate and can still go to work but I should get a test for peace of mind.

My weekend is Monday and Tuesday anyway, but I wouldn't feel right going back to work on Wednesday if I still haven't got the results

Relative’s self test taken 4.30 pm on a Tuesday at drive in. Negative result before 11 am on Thursday.

Ghostlyglow · 23/08/2020 21:04

Has anyone had an antibody test? I've got one booked for next week and wondered what to expect.

polkadotpixie · 23/08/2020 21:13

My son and I were tested yesterday at 10:30am and we've still not had the results. I'm supposed to be at work tomorrow morning at 8:00am 😩

KingaRoo · 23/08/2020 21:17

I did a home test 7 days ago and still heard nothing back. I escalated it via 119 and was told I would hear back by 5pm Friday. Still heard nothing. Called them again and they said there's nothing they can do to hurry it along as it has already been escalated.

I will never do a home test again!

Vali2 · 23/08/2020 21:20

@polkadotpixie , how was the test? Bit nervous for mine that's all

Son had a test on Friday lunchtime, had results Saturday lunchtime.

polkadotpixie · 23/08/2020 21:31

@Vali2 It was fine really. The nasal part isn't too bad but the throat swab isn't great, it really made me heave!

Vali2 · 23/08/2020 22:41

Oh the joys haha, as you do, I've been binge watching videos on it. But what has to be done has to be done. It's good to know that the results seem to come back quite quickly

Yubaba · 23/08/2020 22:47

I had a test on Thursday at 12:30 and got the results Friday at 2pm.
I was contacted by track and trace who are useless, I was exposed at work whilst wearing full PPE in a healthcare setting. T&T said I have to isolate for 14 days but my governing body says I don’t as I was wearing PPE. T&T said they were wrong Hmm

FinnyStory · 23/08/2020 22:50

That makes no sense.

If you have been told you don't need to self isolate you don't need a test. If you think you may have been in contact to catch it, having a test now doesn't prove anything, you could develop it for up to 14 days.

How are people still not getting this?

HexyAndIKnowIt · 23/08/2020 22:58

Mine was really slow this week. Had a postal test. Posted back Tuesday morning in a priority post box, had results around 7pm last night.

I did a postal one a few months back and had the results a lot quicker.

Vali2 · 23/08/2020 23:47

How are you not getting that I've been told what to do so am just following the instructions given.

I don't need to self isolate even though I've been in contact with someone with covid because my interactions were of short time frames even though they were multiple times, we were wearing some forms of ppe.

Therefore I don't need to self isolate as according to the criteria the government go off, it thinks I've not come into contact with them as the time frame is too short, however being around someone 20 to 30 times in one shift to me seems like a lot.

Therefore my boss has recommended all of us get tested and as essential workers we're entitled to that

netflixismysidehustle · 24/08/2020 13:55

Have you had your results?
I've not had mine so I guess I'm not a member of the 91% who hear within 24 hours club
