What’s Happening In Your House?

I need some distraction from dramatic run ins with my pre - teen! So draining! Apart from all of that, I’m having a reasonably chilled day. Popped to Asda to see if they had DD’s size in the school shoes she wants & to look for hiking sandals as she’s wearing her old size 4’s even though she was measured as a 5 to 5.5! That was one of the run ins! Shows how stressful things get when half an hour at a supermarket is a treat! Decided I need to carve out some proper “ me time”. DH goes cycling so I will try to find an exercise class of some sort or if I’m brave enough, return to karate which I loved.
Tea is sorted ( Aldi lamb shanks for us, beef in gravy for DD with a pile of roasties which I need to do). Putting off cleaning the bathroom which is way overdue. All I’ve done is chuck some bleach down the loo.
It needs blitzing! And don’t tell anyone but I may have started on a very nice bottle of Chardonnay. Well it is Sunday!

I’ve done the sum total of bugger all.

Slept in. Period started. Felt rubbish. Stayed in bed reading and titting about on the internet. Had brunch in bed. Had a bath. Got dressed. Now drinking tea and biscuits. Will cook Cajun fish and rice and peas later.

Very lazy Sunday.

menofharlech · 23/08/2020 16:23

I have cooked Sunday lunch including a steamed jam pudding. Tidied up and done some washing.

Had a post anniversary'cuddle' with dh before the kids came back from grandmas.

Played a new board game

Now relaxing whilst dds are packing for a few days away. I'll pack later. Dds version of packing apparently means not wearing anything but pants and a vest top. Who knew....

I may have a bath.

SingingSands · 23/08/2020 16:31

DH and I have filled his estate car with shite from the garage - finally got a time slot at the local tip! We are planning on putting this house on the market before end of September so it was great to have a clear out.

Been to Morrisons for the big shop.

DH cleaned the black bin after discovering maggots 🤢

We've chosen a F&B paint colour to paint our kitchen units and I'm getting that colour matched by our local paint recycling shop so I'm fiddling about on their website.

Sun is out so I'm going to weed the garden and then go for a run before dinner.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/08/2020 16:31

We have been out at the park all day, I put a chicken in to roast about half an hour ago. Now I'm chilling watching TV with a glass of fizz. I'm not doing anything strenuous tonight, I like a relaxed Sunday night!

Lockdownseperation · 23/08/2020 16:34

DH is hoovering upstairs with the toddler helping. DD1 (4) is decorating a cake. I’m pottering in the kitchen not achieving anything. Sweet potato and parsnip tagine with date and coriander is in the oven. I will probably have to think some thing else for DD1 as no doubt it will be ‘disgusting’.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 23/08/2020 16:41

Very little. Washing went out, then came in again because of the rain, for the second day running. Bathrooms have been done, but little else. Might get the Dyson out. Been for a short walk, just to get some air and dodged the rain. DH is making mint sauce to go with the lamb and he’ll cook that shortly.

Will be messing about on the iPad and watching whatever we can find on TV later.

UsernameTaken76 · 23/08/2020 16:43

DH is cleaning the downstairs floors, I’ve just finished putting a tomato Cajun soup into the slow cooker for lunches this week and I’m now relaxing on the sofa with DDog. We’ve been out for lunch with friends so need to worry about cooking today have got cheese & meats into to have later with a boxset and a glass of something cold

Bunnybigears · 23/08/2020 16:44

DH is ironing and watching athletics. I have just got out the bath and can't find single place to sit and dry my hair that is not occupied by a cat or dog. DS2 is upstairs playing on the PC and DS1is outwandering the streets with his girlfriend he thinks I dont know about. They are 13.

Onthecuspof40 · 23/08/2020 16:46

I am wiped today, DD had her PC camp the last few days which obviously this year parents had to be at so it’s been a week of early starts, business, not drinking enough fluids and eating far to much cakes and bacon rolls...

I have managed a bath, put a wash on and going to cook a very simple Sunday roast as I’m craving vegetables and Yorkshire puddings

I am however about to open a bottle of wine as it is Sunday and that definitely makes the law!!

ChunkyKnit · 23/08/2020 16:48

I’ve just put a casserole into the oven for later. Smells lovely.

DH is just back from grocery shopping f and is now doing laundry.

SimonJT · 23/08/2020 16:51

The puppy is finally asleep.

My son is doing some ‘interesting’ dancing to the radio with the much required “Daddy look look look”. Rest assured I have recorded some to save for when he is older.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 23/08/2020 16:52

There is a lot of cricket being watched in this house resulting in a slightly soporific atmosphere...

I have done a bit of laundry and cooking and read the Sunday papers but it is pretty chilled.

And as @Onthecuspof40 has said it is the law I am also opening a bottle of lovely crisp white wine

dementedma · 23/08/2020 16:59

Took my mother out this morning to visit a local Japanese garden.
Continued emptying cupboards and wardrobes as part of an attempt to declutter and now there are piles of clothes everywhere. Tried to figure out ebay and gave up.
Jacket potatoes for dinner as cant be arsed doing anything else. Dd1 applying for jobs,DS on his screens as usual, DH drinking beer and watching sport. Also as usual.

Thebreadsouth · 23/08/2020 17:01

My home is wonderfully peaceful. No noise, mess or anything to disturb the tranquility. Unfortunately, I'm not in it. I'm 250 miles away visiting terminally ill Df. His house is hot, gloomy, smokey and packed to the rafters with shit. The dc are bored and playing up. I love Df but he was always an aggressive, miserable, abusive twat and illness has made him no better. Counting down the minutes until we leave Sad

CrocodileFondue · 23/08/2020 17:02

Watching my incredibly muddy child in the shower. (While sitting on the loo and wasting time on Mumsnet)

Serena1977 · 23/08/2020 17:03

Had a lie in, dh was at work so did some laundry, tidied, washed carrots that I dug up yesterday.

Kids playing on various devices. Also played cards with dd. Did some maths work with dd too. Going to allotment later.

MarshaBradyo · 23/08/2020 17:05

Dd playing with plasticine
Ds making fimo
Older dc at friend’s house
Dh somewhere, was cooking
Me helping a bit with above

lljkk · 23/08/2020 17:08

DC are glued to screens, as am I . I did a work thing, considering hauling my arse off the bed....

I got a QOM on Strava with cycle ride earlier. Bizarre!!

lljkk · 23/08/2020 17:09

ps, @SimonJT, any chance of a puppy pic?

timeforawine · 23/08/2020 17:13

Very little, the cats are probably jumping on everything.
I'm on holiday in Greece so the lovely cat sitter is looking after them Grin

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 23/08/2020 17:17

Bread baking.
Cleaning.
Batch food prep for the week.

Most of us are working on something.

I've taken time out to watch bits of Barber of Seville from MetOpera.

DH has returned from dropping off freezer food I'd prepared for a friend. They had a visit and chat.

EsmeeMerlin · 23/08/2020 17:29

I did a huge declutter today and spent some time with ds2 while dh and ds1 went round to my Nan’s to do some work in her garden. They are now back so dh is cooking sweet and sour chicken for dinner while we are watching Paddington.

SimonJT · 23/08/2020 17:38

@lljkk This is the only picture that doesn’t have any of our faces in, but it does have a hungover friends torso 😂

Potteringdawn · 23/08/2020 17:40

Getting ready to go out for dinner and trying to get the cat down from the tree before we go Gin

Laiste · 23/08/2020 17:46

Spent the morning filling a skip with a large wall from upstairs which we knocked down yesterday morning.

Took DD cycling.

Now we're eating noodles (and counting the hours till bedtime - we're knackered)
