Hello,

I am in the bath with a glass of water 😂 and was thinking about this so mumsnet what would you do?

I'm gonna think about my answer carefully and post it in the comments, I know it's damn near impossible to win the lottery but this is all fun and it's nice to think about fantasies 😂

I'd rent a bigger house whilst we build our own. This would give us space to not rich the build, sort out what were keeping etc.

I have intense driving lessons then pay for special ones in a big car and on the motorway.

Clear all mine and my families debts

Buy a second home in Wales.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/08/2020 21:49

Give it away by starting a huge South London based mental health charity with free/greatly reduced therapy for all who need it (fucking everyone after Covid!)

Theforest · 21/08/2020 21:50

Resign

Give a substantial to my brother, mum and certain in laws)

Buy a house

Buy a house each for stepkids

Book a holiday.

Let DH buy car of his dreams

Help some friends who need it.

Plan for DC future.

Plan the rest of our lives in comfort and helping causes which mean the most to us.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/08/2020 21:51

I don't want to get deleted but I'm not morally opposed to getting rid of a few 'dictators' permanently- trump/putin/erdogan/jong un

adawong · 21/08/2020 21:55

I would buy 2 of these. An Island in either the Caribbean or the Maldives( or both) and fuck everyone else.

Congratulations you've won the 99M on euromillions tonight... what do you do?
CormoranStrike · 21/08/2020 21:57

All the family would have their mortgages and any other debts cleared.

I’d buy the house if my dreams (or maybe two).

flowerycurtain · 21/08/2020 22:00

Buy a big farm.

Put my godchildren through private school plus a trust fund.

Pay for my nieces uni and a house for after

Give all my staff a new car and quadruple their wage. Plus put 100k each in their pension. And employ 2 more staff so they don't have to work such long hours.

Do you my house plus a kitchen extension.

A lovely holiday.

Pay off my best friends mortgage

Pay for every single Church renovation for my village church and fund a trust fund for it.

Give lots and lots away. Sponsor 4 or 4 loca kids through private school. Fund 6 teachers for 10 years at the village school and maybe pay for a sports complex

For myself I'd pay for a persona trainer 3x a week

SadiePurple · 21/08/2020 22:09

I'd pay someone to come and change my bed linen every single day. The finest bed linen money can buy, freshly ironed.

SimonJT · 21/08/2020 22:12
@SimonJT - ooh big union fan. I even know all the rules (and shout at the tv). Might I have heard of you? Obviously don't reveal your secret identity!
Depends on the teams you followed around 6-10 years ago. I play for a very low team now (Steelers), but I do love playing for them.

Outnumberedwoman · 21/08/2020 22:13

I play this game a lot.

First I would buy a piece of land in the country side and then build our dream house complete with swimming pool, gym, bowling alley and cinema. Sportsroom for DH and kids aswell. It has to be in the middle of nowhere though as I have got sick of having neighbours shouting and partying until 5am recently. It has been all through lockdown- apparently lockdown restrictions don't apply to my neighbours!

Selfishly then i would have some cosmetic surgery I have always wanted to help with my confidence.

Then i would hire an assistant to help my child with SEN. I would make a donation to several charities that are very close to my and my family's hearts.

I would also pay back family for all their help and pay off some mortgages.

ImFree2doasiwant · 21/08/2020 22:15

Id give enough money to a few colleagues that they could leave their jobs all on the same day.

Stillinbedat10am · 21/08/2020 22:22
 1. Buy myself a house and my mum a house.
 2. Buy myself a weekend retreat.
 3. Pay for an intensive driving course and buy myself a car.
 4. Go to Hobbycraft and buy all the stitchy stuff.
 5. Make a large award to the university I work in to support their widening participation programme and to be used to award student bursaries.
 6. Go into work on Monday morning and treat all the students working on our clearing lines to a McDonalds breakfast!
Stillinbedat10am · 21/08/2020 22:22

Oh and I forgot...

 1. Replace my tumble dryer. Grin
Ohdeariedear · 21/08/2020 22:26

I love this game. It’s a bit different at the moment as holidays, massive shopping sprees etc are off the table.

So tomorrow I would :

 • phone two estate agents in the morning and arrange offers on two houses I’ve been keeping an eye on.

-drive to the Apple store and buy everyone in my household whatever they wanted.

 • then onto the VW garage to order two camper vans, one for me, one for DH

Longer term I’d:
Give friends and family lots of money
Find someone to find me a plot of land in the highlands and engage an architect I follow on Instagram to build me a beautiful house
Set up a few educational prizes/bursaries whatever at my old school

Then I’d quite like to just spend my time giving money away to people who need it - bit like Taylor swift and that uni student. Just quietly giving away a few thousand here and there each day to gofundme’s or people who are already trying to raise money for wheelchairs etc. Just making people’s lives a bit easier. I’d love that.

SpringSunshineandTulips · 21/08/2020 22:28

99 million? Wow. I’d give a million (at least!) to both our parents and all our siblings. Set up trust funds for our kids and nieces and nephews. Pay off our mortgage - keep the house as we love it but it’s too small for us and buy a larger one. Probably a holiday home or two - one close by like France or Spain and the other further away somewhere lovely and let our families enjoy them too. Big donations to three charities that have helped our families. Then I’d move onto friends and help them out too. Would be utterly amazing.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 21/08/2020 22:33

Use it to build a gated estate with family houses and high security. The set myself up with the Charities commission as a DV charity and rent out at low cost non-profit rent to women escaping violence. No men allowed in.

madcatladyforever · 21/08/2020 22:36

For a start I would not be cracking open any champagne on tv or in the papers, I would go anonymous.
I'd share the money out between my family, I have a very small family so it would go a long way.
I'd tell my son he won't get a penny of it until he learns to drive because that's pissed me off for years.
Then I'd buy a lovely home by the sea and a second lock up and leave home in the town where all my friends are so I could go to my usual events and be able to stay over.
I'd give up my NHS job immediately and retire as I'm almost 60 and knackered.
I'd get a private exercise instructor and have some plastic surgery. I'd get all of my teeth cosmetically done and start hiking, something I never have time to do now.
I already enjoy my life and the things I do so not much would change except I'd have more money to do it with and wouldn't have to worry about retirement.
I'd get involved with animal charities and volunteer with them part time.

AuntyPasta · 21/08/2020 22:46

Be surprised because I hadn’t bought a ticket
Buy a small island
Get Ocado to deliver to aforementioned island
Help out family and friends
Laugh at ex husband
Donate to charities
Populate island with rescue animals

purplefur · 21/08/2020 23:19

Wet myself

safariboot · 21/08/2020 23:51

Keep quiet about it. I'd think twice before telling anyone just how much it was.

I'd probably order a Domino's pizza to celebrate Grin.

Log in to work as usual Monday morning. Have a think about whether to hand in my notice. My employer's good and I wouldn't just leave them in the lurch.

Start looking at buying a house for me and a bungalow for DM. Then a nice electric or hybrid hatchback to replace my old banger. (Flashy stuff can come later, I'll get a good city daily driver first.)

As far as what to do with the other 98 million. Spend a chunk on going into space. Set up a foundation to provide research grants for anything I find interesting. Keep some prudently invested for day-to-day expenses of course.

SalterWatcher · 21/08/2020 23:56

Pay off mum's mortgage
Brother's mortgage - get him some residential therapy for his alcoholism

Buy my mum a new house
Pay my aunt's mortgage
Gift money to my aunts so they don't have to work.

Not sure about DH siblings maybe the younger one the others are millionaires so don't need me.

Gift money to local school.

Set up my charity to help children in disadvantaged areas get mentors in business / sport etc to mentor them for life.

Oh and maybe won't move just yet - but DH and I can hand in our notice at least!

ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 22/08/2020 00:00

Buy a 4 bedroom house.
Have another baby.
Open a cat rescue .
Retrain as a child therapist.
Give 10 mil to my mum.
Keep 30 for DD.
Live off the rest.

Tbh I don't need 99 million.
Even 1 would make my biggest wishes(bigger house and another baby) doable. I have low standards.Grin

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/08/2020 00:03

Buy my dream home. I don't want a massive home, just a nice 3 bed detached with an en suite and walk in wardrobe.

Give some to family and friends.

Put some aside to buy DS a house when he's an adult.

Use the rest to travel and enjoy life. I'd still work but only part time.

Bunnybigears · 22/08/2020 00:11

Give my house to my friend who is living in an overcrowded flat.
Buy a lovely new house in the same area I live now so the kids are still near their friends etc.
Leave work but only after they have found and trained a replacement I wouldn't want to leave them in the lurch.
Buy a few adapted holiday caravans/chalets and allow the local hospice to use them free of charge.
Then once the kids have grown up and set out on their own I would move to a house in the countryside with a lot of land and run some sort of campsite/petting zoo, but take on lots of staff so I can still go on lots of lovely holidays.
