Good to hear you're enjoying your new job Honeyroar, sometimes a change is good.

Not Phil Collins, Coffee, male solo singer, similar age. Not much of a clue I know!

Turtletotem · 27/08/2020 22:31

And I,
I'm ready to sail any ocean

1980 duet

Olivia Newton John?

Hi All

Sorry I've not been around much - busy spending the last week of hols doing everything I should have done during the last 5 weeks!

Honey, glad the job's going well still think it's a ruse to suck up to coffee for the awards night

Here's some (almost) topical ones on a theme to make up for my shameless absence....

Well tonight we're reaching out and touching you

80s

We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

80s

A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you, and your soul of ice

80s

Then she's up and rock and rollin' with the rest

80s, gobsmackingly. But that's what google says (and who am I to argue!)

Ski shop encounter most interesting
Had his number but never the time
Most of '81 passed along those lines

80s

'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight

90s

While the Tsar and Jim have tea
If I get home, live to tell the tale
I'll run for all presidencies

80s

Will the human race be run in a day (in a day)
Or will someone save this planet we're playing on

80s

KatherineJaneway · 28/08/2020 06:22

A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you, and your soul of ice

One of my fave songs of all time Last Christmas by Wham.

We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The Pogues Fairytale of New York

While the Tsar and Jim have tea
If I get home, live to tell the tale
I'll run for all presidencies

Jona Lewie Stop The Cavalry

'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight

Mariah Carey All I Want For Christmas Is You

Ski shop encounter most interesting
Had his number but never the time
Most of '81 passed along those lines

The Waitress Christmas Wrapping

Then she's up and rock and rollin' with the rest

Slade Merry Christmas Everybody

Will the human race be run in a day (in a day)
Or will someone save this planet we're playing on

Pipes of Peace Paul McCartney

Morning all!
1980s

I call you on the telephone
My voice too rough with cigarettes
I sometimes feel I should just go home
But I'm dealing with a memory that never forgets

outwest · 28/08/2020 09:29

And all the bad boys are standing in the shadows
And the good girls are home with broken hearts

@shinynewapple2020 Tom Petty, Free fallin'?

VictoriousSockPuppet · 28/08/2020 09:55

Bloody hell, Katherine! Too easy.

Um, you didn't spot the almost topical theme???

shinynewapple2020 · 28/08/2020 10:03

Yes @outwest . Well done Smile I was thinking I was going to have to repost that one .

shinynewapple2020 · 28/08/2020 10:06

@VictoriousSockPuppet you were right being surprised that google told you the Slade Christmas song was 80s. It was originally out in 1973.

shinynewapple2020 · 28/08/2020 10:15

For anyone whose interested the Band Aid lyrics posted come from one of the later versions - possibly the one released at the time of the Ebola crisis?

Original lyrics at that point were 'tonight thank God it's them instead of you'

VictoriousSockPuppet · 28/08/2020 10:38

Shiny. Thank you x 2.

Yes, I was sure the slade one was 70s.

AND I thought the band aid lyric was wrong, but it was about the only line in the song that didn't mention my theme.
As if anyone could forget hearing bono

Fleamaker123 · 28/08/2020 12:46

People can change, they always do
Haven't they noticed the changes in you?

81

Turtletotem · 28/08/2020 13:24

Smokey Robinson, Being with you

Fleamaker123 · 28/08/2020 15:34

✅Turtletotem

Iggi999 · 28/08/2020 16:48

One I posted that I don't think was guessed was Devil's Haircut by Beck.
This is easier (90s)
But as all you've got to lose, alludes to yesterday,
Yesterday's through, now do anything you please.

VictoriousSockPuppet · 28/08/2020 17:01

That's road rage. Love that track.

I used to love that beck album, (odilay????) haven't thought about it for years.

shinynewapple2020 · 28/08/2020 17:23

There must be some other way to make you see
If it takes my heart and soul

1970s

You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star
My kind of wonderful, that's what you are

1970s

Search your heart
Search your soul
And when you find me there

1990s

CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/08/2020 17:32

You're my sun, my moon, my guiding star
My kind of wonderful, that's what you are

You're my first, my last, my everything - Barry White ?

Fleamaker123 · 28/08/2020 18:01

Think it was the Real Thing

Willow2017 · 28/08/2020 18:14

Arghhh again all those easy (for me for once) I missed!

shinynewapple2020 · 28/08/2020 19:02

Yes to both @CoffeeBeansGalore
That Brian Adams song was number one for ages wasn't
It? That was the time I met my DH

And @midgebabe correct with the song, it was The Real Thing
