Warning Spider

Massive spider just ran over my partners chest and over our pillows. Big enough for my spider friendly partner to shout fuck and jump out of bed. Me, I jumped out screaming!

It went behind the headboard.

We've pulled the bed out, tipped it up and can't find the bugger!.

And now I'm supposed to go to sleep!???

I know they are probably more frightened of me but it was mahoosive and on this occasion I'm definitely more frightened of it.

May have to keep the lights on all night!

ScottIansEyebrows · 19/08/2020 23:34

Be sure to get a pic for us when you find it!

minmooch · 19/08/2020 23:37

Between the pillows

I have experience of this .....

AskingforaBaskin · 19/08/2020 23:48

I love spiders. They have fascinated me my whole life.

However. I was loading the nappies into the washing machine today from a pile on the floor when the biggest motherfucker ran out and at me.
I felt my heart leave my body.
This was some nuclear spill level shit.
What the hell was he up to. He ran back into the pile and I managed to get him into a glass.

I wouldn't be able to sleep either 😂

@Seychelles98 if it's a tarantula then I'm burning the house down!

It will wait until it all goes quiet and then it will plan it's return hoping for maximum impact because it really really really wants you to jumps out of bed screaming and then kill it :)

They are blind you know - spiders..... they can't see, so the odds are stacked up against them really.

Good luck - I wouldn't be able to sleep either !

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 19/08/2020 23:56

There was a huge spider in my bath a few weeks ago. It was like some kind of mutant like off Doctor Who or X Files. Luckily it was gone in the morning so hopefully the cat got it.

Homebodiva · 19/08/2020 23:59

I found a massive one in the bathroom. It must have either crawled up the plug hole, or it walked ALL the way from the balcony through the lounge across the hall to the bathroom. It's currently under a glass. I should liberate it. I think they have had a boom while it was hot and like to come in to find new places to live.

One running across your chest, I am not sure I would recover from that. At least you have each other to hug and scream Grin.

To be fair, the chance of it happening twice are slim. I'd probably sleep under the duvet and slowly suffocate myself 😂

WinWinnieTheWay · 20/08/2020 00:02

There's no way spiders feel fear.
If they were frightened they wouldn't come in the house. They are sly, scheming little beasts sent straight from Satan's pocket.

minmooch · 20/08/2020 00:05

Great news! The tarantula ran down the curtains! Woke my partner up and he managed to catch it in a glass. It's now been set free out the front door.

Tried to get a photo but needed my torch to make sure it's whole body and legs were in the glass 🤮

It's raining heavily so I hope he doesn't try to find his way back........

Your thread reminds me of the book Arrrggghhhh Spider by Lydia Monks. Grin
Where the spider desperately wants to be a pet put the family keep throwing him outSad

They home you know !

BarbedBloom · 20/08/2020 19:39

I saw the biggest spider I have ever seen in the UK the other day. With its leg span none of our bowls would fit over it, let alone a glass. My DH likes spiders but it freaked him out and he couldn't believe how big it was.

Saw another one last night. Not as big but still too big to use a glass. Not sure what is happening this year as we don't normally get many and certainly not as big

ScottIansEyebrows · 20/08/2020 21:21

BarbedBloom

What make of spider was that?!

Sounds like a giant house spider. One run up my partners shirt and over his shoulder as he was putting it on once. The shirt had been hanging on the windowsill after being ironed so the spider must have been sitting in it without him seeing it. He shouted get it off me so I knocked it on to the floor! It legs had to be gently coaxed into a pint glass so I could put it outside!
DialSquare · 20/08/2020 21:30

in = on!
Got visions of the spider wearing the shirt now!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 20/08/2020 21:37

last one to scare me ran up the duvet..i thought it was the bloody cat

before that the biggest one I had ever seen came running across the dining room floor at me...i HEARD it tapping over the boards...luckily as I am such a terrible housewife there was an empty pint glass on the side and i managed to drop it over the beast...its feet were crimped on both sides, I was shrieking, the dog came in to see and being the big 50kg protective GSD type he peered at the source of my angst, visibly recoiled and scurried back to the sitting room
...making less noise than the bloody spider had in the first place.

RHOBHfan · 20/08/2020 21:42

Dis you know most spiders are almost blind? 🕷

RHOBHfan · 20/08/2020 21:43

Or, at least, don’t have good eyesight?

JadesRollerDisco · 20/08/2020 21:49

They may be blind but I'm sure they can smell my fear

Dizzywizz · 20/08/2020 21:50

I thought spiders had 8 eyes??! We get giant house spiders, if you’d told me that before I wouldn’t have moved in. I’ve got used to them now and got over my fear. But if one ran over me...not sure I could cope with that

Iwasonceabrownie · 20/08/2020 21:53

I'm now looking all round the room, just in caseConfused

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/08/2020 21:59

I am now afraid to move the furniture!! I keep a couple of cellar spiders around to keep the hairy ones at bay! However they disappeared when the decorators were in so expecting some hairy beasts
