If you had £300k where would you live?

In my house, rural hamlet on Rutland/Leics border.
Roughly 150sqm 3 bed

Where I am now, as my work, and all my community live here.

Very few people can just 'buy a house' anywhere. Even if it weren't work dependent, folk like to be able to get to other places for all sorts of reasons. Some like the coast, the City, countryside, whatever, apart from family ties, friendship groups etc.

About 500 yards from where I currently live (Derbyshire). There’s a 4 bed detached house, with a downstairs bedroom and en-suite, which I’d love as I really struggle on stairs, there’s a good kitchen, really nice sized garden with a small swimming pool, and room for my caravan and car, plus overlooking open fields at the front.

Where I live now, with a mortgage.

Beverley, east Yorkshire - visited for the first time yesterday (am on holiday in the area) and it's gorgeous. Just looked and there are some quite nice house available at that price.

Can't believe you get all that for £300k!!!

There was a converted chapel for sale down here, a 4 bed and not as big as that for over a million!

I'd buy this.

£300k would buy something very nice where I live, but it's not my dream location by any means.

If I was talking real life, practical decisions, I'd maybe go for Hollywood, Co Down. At the sea and on the train line to Belfast. Although £300k would buy a house there, it wouldn't be anything spectacular, just an ordinary semi.

I'd wait for DDs to finish their education and get settled, then move to Scotland. I actually do have £300k and am going to do just that.

We are looking for a house pretty much anywhere north of midlands. Coast and countryside nearer please! but we want a very large garden so 300k wouldn’t get.

I live in a village in between Derby and Nottingham.

Scotland...you can get a beautiful house in amazing surroundings for that.
