Wisdom tooth removal no sedation

I have a wisdom tooth removal booked tomorrow. I have two bottom impacted wisdom teeth, one on each side, one extremely near the nerve. I am a very nervous dental patient but nowhere, including the hospital, is doing sedation due to covid. I have 4mg of diazepam to take beforehand. Any positive stories to help me go though with it? I am on my 5th round of antibiotics now so I shouldn't really delay, especially as there seems to be no date for sedation coming back. All positive experiences appreciated!!!

Thank you everybody. The codeine is really doing the job with the pain, though I feel a bit spaced out, so not getting much work done today!

I hope it all went well for you!

All four of mine were impacted. I read replies that stated they had wisdom teeth removal without sedation. I believe these posters must not have had impacted teeth and/or missed that yours were impacted.

Oral surgeons remove a portion of the bone around the impacted tooth. Given that facial nerves are commonly very close to impacted teeth, I would wager that very few surgeries of this nature are done without sedation. Partial impactions can sometimes be removed without sedation as can wisdom teeth that have emerged. In fact, a regular dentist can remove wisdom teeth that have emerged. I can’t imagine a surgeon removing impacted wisdom teeth without sedation unless under very unique circumstances. I surely would NOT have had mine removed without being sedated. Imagine one jerking one’s head at a critical moment during the surgery! Facial nerves would certainly have a greater potential for damage.

Anyway, I trust it was all easy peasy! Blessings!
