Which season do you love?

Just that really. Inspired by all the chatter of the heatwave and those who love and loathe it.

Autumn seems to feed my soul. I love it all. The colours and the smell of a bonfire. The clothes and the nights closing in. I also love the other transitional season of spring because the world feels hopeful to me, and the days feel fresh and the lighter evenings are welcome after the winter.

So tell me, what's your favourite season?

Autumn here too
Nice bearable temperatures, beautiful colours, kids back in school (well normally)
Love it

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/08/2020 16:35

Spring. I like warm weather, not this heat - low 20s is perfect for me. I love seeing all the flowers come out, the anticipation of long light evenings, looking forward to everything that summer brings. May is my favourite month.

chestnutshell · 13/08/2020 16:36

I have to say I found the summer of 2018 very difficult. Far too hot, not enough sleep. I love a balmy summer eve but that was too much.

As a child I loved the idea of summer (summer hols) but then always found it a bit of a downer. Hated autumn (school) and loved spring. Winter meh.

As an adult, still love spring best but autumn is a very close second.

Ilovetwiglets · 13/08/2020 16:37

definitely not summer and winter is OK but goes on too long.

bubbles519 · 13/08/2020 16:38

Winter for me. I love snow (not that we barely get any) and everything associated with it. There's always so much going on and I love being snuggled up on the sofa with a blanket whilst it's miserable weather outside

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 13/08/2020 16:39

Autumn, then Spring, then Summer and then Winter (apart from Christmas which I consider to be the end of Autumn really).

Lottapianos · 13/08/2020 16:39

'May is my favourite month.'

Ditto! Lovely long evenings, flowers everywhere, the weather can be lovely and sunny. Like everyone else, I love Spring and Autumn. I do enjoy the sun, but this week has been WAY too hot (London) and I'm looking forward to Autumn starting in a few weeks

OneIsAWorldOfBooks · 13/08/2020 16:41

I love autumn and early winter. September-December are my favourite months of the year. I love the nights drawing in and the weather becoming colder and crisper. Halloween, bonfire night and the lead up to Christmas. But by new year I’m done with the cold, wet weather and very ready for the spring.

JustCallMeGriffin · 13/08/2020 16:43

Autumn, then Winter, then Spring.

Summer can bugger off to another country as far as I'm concerned!

chestnutshell · 13/08/2020 16:43

@OneIsAWorldOfBooks I could have written that. My feelings exactly.

Definitely spring, for all of the reasons already mentioned. It always makes me feel so hopeful and happy to be alive (this year was an odd one admittedly!). I also love late summer/early autumn when you get those lovely warm balmy days, but I absolutely dread the clocks going back as hate the dark evenings. Crisp sunny winter mornings are also glorious.

Exactly the same here. I adore autumn and then the build up to Christmas.

I also like spring too for the same reasons as you @chestnutshell

user5656 · 13/08/2020 16:51

Summer for me, the hotter the better.
Also, spring because summer is coming soon.
I hate the autumn and just wish I could hibernate from October to March.

Lottapianos · 13/08/2020 16:54

'Summer for me, the hotter the better.'

Serious question- do you not sweat very much? Because I am sick to death of feeling like a wet rag all day and night! I think I sweated about 2 pints into just my bra and knickers yesterday Smile

HeronLanyon · 13/08/2020 16:55

Autumn no matter where I am.
Summer (if away and coast/sea swimming possible)
Winter
Spring.

Or
Autumn
Winter
Spring
Summer (if at home (city) with no swimming holiday away)

Ritascornershop · 13/08/2020 16:56

Autumn, then winter, then spring. I hate the heat, so summer last. I love the temperature in autumn, the smells, the clothes, the crispness. It’s perfect.

chestnutshell · 13/08/2020 16:58

@user5656 do you suffer in the very cold weather? Unlike you, the heat makes me miserable in this country (UK).

I find it interesting that some people are just built for the heat and thrive in it. Whilst I am perfectly happy in almost freezing temperatures!

Autumn from a fashion, hair make up perspective
Spring from a life perspective- going out etc

vanitythynameisnotwoman · 13/08/2020 16:59

Spring and Autumn. I like seasons of change - seeing flowers in one and leaves in the other. Not too hot and not a hundred layers of cold!

BogRollBOGOF · 13/08/2020 17:02

Spring. Rarely disappoints (although 2018 when it bounded from the Beast from the East into summer in early May was an odd one out). I loce the optomism, the sunlight, the lengthening days, the sucession of natures changes and freshness.

Autumn is growing on me. I like it in the moment with the beauty of the leaves and light quality. A good autumn can be fantastic. The problem is the bad ones like last year when we squelched into September and kept squelching through to mid-March with no let up. Bonfire night was cancelled due to flooding last year.

Summer is a funny one. I like t-shirt days. I don't need it over 25oC, and over 30oC is completely unnecessary. I like the simplicity of putting on sandals and not worrying about jumpers/ coats. It can be unreliable though. Last year was either torrential or blistering, neither of which is conducive to enjoying time outside.

Winter, I'd edit out November and January. Keep December for Christmas and the relief that it doesn't get any darker. Keep February because it's short and the optomism of the bulbs poking through, and the daylight eeking out past 5pm. 2 months is ample, especially when good quality snow or sparkling hoar frosts are a rareity that may not happen in any given year.

Actually, no I'm not really a very sweaty person but i enjoy a refreshing shower in the evening and then relaxing in just shorty pjs. So much easier to get dressed in the morning when it's hot. Just underwear, a sun dress or shorts and tee shirt and flip flops.
Don't have to worry about vests or socks or tights.
Sunnyday321 · 13/08/2020 17:02

Autumn, it's all about putting on your cosy jumpers, getting the heating on , and drawing curtains and lighting candles at night.

user5656 · 13/08/2020 17:06

I wouldn't say I suffer in the cold weather and do like a crisp frosty morning, but how many of those do we get? It's more often damp, grey and drizzly.

TSSDNCOP · 13/08/2020 17:07

All of them for different reasons. That said, I dislike the months of January and February as they drag on in a haze of mizzle.
