What are you all doing today?

I'm enjoying my usual cuppa in silence. I'll put the washer on when I've drunk it but for now it's lovely sitting here with no noise.

I don't think we're doing much - dd2 wants to carry on with making a sleeping bag for her favourite cuddly so we'll do that. & the paddling pool is half filled from yesterday so I might just top that up & we'll spend some of the day in the garden.

Dd1 will probably wander round in her hoody most of the day telling me she's not too hot Hmm & watch Hamilton (for the millionth time!).

It'll be something with salad for tea I think & then a couple of glasses of wine either reading my book while the girls Minecraft or drawing out a pattern for a book holder thing for the side of dd2's bed.

What about you lot? :)

It's still cool here (only 25°C) and I had my silent coffee at 6, already assembled a Kallax unit so that DS could take his books off the floor, and will now assemble a DETOLF (yay me) for DD so she can finish her room. Then I'll clean bath and kitchen and then ....
I'll lay down on an air matress on the terasse with an audible book and relax till the sun comes round.
Salad and sth grilled for midday, I think.

lucysmam · 08/08/2020 10:00

@Prokupatuscrakedatus silent cup of tea/coffee first thing is absolute bliss! Even my neighbours aren't in their garden yet, which is unusual!

MintyCedric · 08/08/2020 10:07

It is waaaayyy too hot for me at the moment.

I'm going to potter, do a few chores and veg out. Shopping delivery later, and anticipating some kind of crisis with The Olds as it's my 'day off' Hmm.

I've just downloaded a new audible book so may well pinch your idea @Prokupatuscrakedatus

Chosennone · 08/08/2020 10:09

Taking the dog out any min before it gets too hot! We had a busy day yesterday so just want to chill in the garden. Adamant I'm finishing my book today.

ssd · 08/08/2020 10:12

Thank you lucysmam, the world isn't so different now I've seen your what are you all doing thread!!

I'm in bed with a frothy coffee, nice and peaceful. Will go a good walk later, make dinner, hang out washing etc.

Hellohah · 08/08/2020 10:18

I've read some of my book while drinking my coffee.
Cut the grass, hung my washing out.
Am about to take some stuff to the tip, go to the running shop for new trainers, I need a prop for my washing line and some candles, so will get them too (not from the running shop).
Will probably change the beds, hoover the stairs and clean the bathroom when I get home.
I should have gone for a run but it's hot outside and I put it off... It's just getting hotter so I feel annoyed with myself now.

Going for a meal later with my Mum.

lucysmam · 08/08/2020 10:35

@ssd I like my little slice of normal with these threads :)

@Hellohah could you go for a run later on, if it cools down?

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/08/2020 10:39

Watching crap films, my asthma is being a total bitch so I'm desperately trying to stay out of hospital.
I have a Sainsburys delivery coming though with nice food so its not all bad.

wendz86 · 08/08/2020 10:47

I’ve done a bit of cleaning first thing before it got to hot . Now joining in watching hamilton for millionth time Grin.
My eldest dd has her first gymnastics lesson back today this afternoon so will drop her there and then take youngest to park or something .

vanillandhoney · 08/08/2020 11:07

I had a bit of a lie in, had a a sausage sandwich, took the dogs for a walk before it got too hot, came back, showered and now I'm lazing around and watching TV and having another coffee!

Nice and peaceful after a busy week.

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/08/2020 11:46

I've supervised DS's zoom karate lesson and had a quiet cup of tea. I'm going to put a wash on and then DD1 and I need to go to Tesco to pick up the click and collect grocery shopping.

I'll make lunch when we get back and then do some knitting while watching the cricket with DH. I've got chilli in the slow cooker for dinner and there's beer in the fridge.

GalOopNorth · 08/08/2020 11:51

Have cleaned the house, enjoying a coffee while DH collects DS3 from footy training.
Later, now the lawn and potter in the veg patch listening to an audiobook.
Even later, go for a swim at the beach.

Camomila · 08/08/2020 12:11

DS1 and DH have gone to the park to meet friends, baby DS2 and I are hiding indoors.

It's 28° in my living room and it's the coldest spot in the flat! Am trying to tidy up but DS2 is thirsty and wants to feed every hour.

vampirethriller · 08/08/2020 12:21

Just made potato curry for lunch. After that, going to the park to sit in the shade with the toddler and then to the allotment to water the veg later.

UncomfortableSilence · 08/08/2020 12:23

The humidity today is giving me an awful headache so not as much as usual. All washing and housework done just need to put DD2s bedding back on, after lunch going to pop out to get new bedding for DD1s new bed which arrived today.

DH has popped to Sainsbury’s to get a few bits then he's painting the downstairs shower room this afternoon.

DD1 is doing some of her GCSE coursework and also some revision and DD2 is on Roblox moaning it's too hot Grin

Hellohah · 08/08/2020 12:57

@lucysmam I will just go tomorrow. I've been doing 2 miles a day so have been all week, do longer on a Saturday and have Sunday as a rest day but have lost all motivation now I had to sit in traffic to get home from shopping 😂

utterlynutty · 08/08/2020 13:05

I had 2 loads of washing on and hung out by 10am.
Had a leisurely late breakfast outside on the patio.
Cleaned the kitchen.
Put on a 3rd load of washing,
Pottered around the garden for a bit.
Cleared the weeds from between the mono blocks in the drive.
Will have lunch outside too, then perhaps stay out and read my book.
Playing tennis later this afternoon then probably watch a film on Netflix this evening.
It's sunny here today but not oppressively hot (Scotland).

curly100 · 08/08/2020 13:14

I've done a bit of work (not made much of a dent in the to do list but every little counts) and been to a local market for some bits and pieces.

DD is at the beach at the moment but we might do some baking when she comes back and/or read some more of her book (the penultimate book in a series and the last one was released this week, delivered this morning)

We're going away up North for a few nights tomorrow so I need to pack, pick any veg that won't wait until we get back and distribute to neighbours, tidy round, etc

happypotamus · 08/08/2020 13:20

I have just got up because I worked last night. Am currently enjoying my equivalent of your early morning cup of tea in a silent empty house. DC will be coming back from my parents any time now, and the house is surprisingly messy even though I asked DH last night not to make it any messier while I was at work. Will see what DC want to do when they come back, probably stare blankly at screens because my parents won't have let them do that Hmm Sad Our paddling pool is very complicated to put up and DH has gone out without giving me any instructions how to do it or where the pump etc are, so not that.

bert3400 · 08/08/2020 13:23

Been to the gym (home) & for a swim ( live in Spain). Went and got dinner for tonight, had to go to 3 different shops as the ingredients are slightly unusual. The tourist town where I live is absolutely heaving with tourists, so took way longer than normal. We are BBQing tonight - Teriyaki chicken kebabs with homemade chow mein . If the kids are happy (18&12) me and DH may sneak off to the beach for a drink and people watch - perfect Saturday.

starfish4 · 08/08/2020 13:25

Changed our bedding and put washing out. Surprised myself and I've been out for a walk and a bike ride. This afternoon, the odd bit of tidying as I pass, reading my book, maybe online shopping!

Making a ricotta and sweetcorn lasagne and salad later, which we'll eat outside with a glass of wine - looking forward to that. I need water the garden, then we'll finish off a game we started last night which can easily be moved outside.

user159 · 08/08/2020 13:31

We went to the park this am with DD (18months) had a lovely walk and bacon sandwich in the amazing cafe there. DH has now gone off to do his hobby and I'm relaxing with a coffee whilst DD naps and the banana bread is in the oven. This pm we'll go for a walk or trike in the woods before DH gets home and takes over with bath and bed whilst I relax with my book. A good Saturday in this house!

cleanasawhistle · 08/08/2020 13:38

Its very warm here at the moment but at 7am when I was in the garden it was cold.
Started the day doing some exercise outside for half hour.
Had a shower.Hung washing out and then had some breakfast.
Been pottering about and made lunch for everyone.
Now I am doing some online shopping and not moving till later when I make dinner.
Saturday for me is usually a quiet relaxed lazy day unless I plan a night out with friends....not done since early March.

Have a good day everyone

juliantwo · 08/08/2020 14:13

We are having a lovely day. Got up early and had an hour to myself with coffee and current book which I am loving- Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell. Then all 4 of us went on a bike ride and the boys played at the park for a bit. Then we had gazpacho for lunch, and some friends called round and we a drink in the garden. Now we are
Doing a bit of pottering and I am going to listen to a podcast. Later I will
Make dinner and we will watch total wipeout together. Once boys are asleep dh and I will watch a drama together.

purrswhileheeats · 08/08/2020 14:49
