Hi, ( we have got vet appointment tomorrow) just wondering if anyone knows or has experienced this before. Our pup has developed sores under his chin and also today there is one on his ear. Vet adviced sudocream for now until he can see him tomorrow but I am panicking! He hasn't been out anywhere as he is only 6 weeks old ( our dogs had pups so we haven't had a puppy too early) if anyone can recognise this to put my mind at rest tonight. Thank you

Vet here. Don’t panic, it will be treatable! I can’t see the photos properly but possibly puppy acne, an allergic reaction to something or a mite infection. Is it itchy?

FAQs · 05/08/2020 19:32

This happens to my cat, it was a flea allergy, and returns if we don’t keep on top of it. I’m not a vet, dog owner and owned by a cat.

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 19:33

@Wotrewelookinat oh thank you! Yes it's really itchy and all the other pups are trying to lick the sores ( were not sure if this is a good thing or not?) X

6 weeks is early to leave the mum! Unless the advice has changed?

FAQs · 05/08/2020 19:34

Sorry OP I’m slapping myself didn’t read it properly, also cooking, I’m a twat.

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 19:34

@FAQs as I've said in my post they are our litter of puppies. Mum and dad are my dogs.

@FAQs just seen your post, sorry I got arsey I just knew someone would be along to say that, that's why I put it in my post 😂 they haven't been anywhere apart from our garden and definitely on top of worm and flea treatment, I hope it's nothing serious 😓 x

Any bacterial infection causes itchiness. The other puppies licking it and the skin being moist from that will probably irritate it more. Also you don’t want the other puppies licking the sudocrem so try to stop the licking and the scratching. I’m sure it will settle quickly once you have some meds x

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 05/08/2020 19:44

Dog owner here, but does look like an allergy of some sort to me, have you introduced anything new to the diet recently? Anything he could have got into in the garden or anything?

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 19:44

@Wotrewelookinat thank you! The vet gave him some antibiotics a couple weeks ago as he was really struggling to poo. Could this be a reaction or side affect to them? X

OP posts:
Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 19:46

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery no the only thing he's had is food and water, no new food. He's had the regular worm and flea treatment, but he did have antibiotics off the vet couple weeks ago wondering if maybe it's a reaction or side effect to them z

Ignore me, @Wotrewelookinat is far better able to advise.

RTFT beery 🤦🏻‍♀️

Please let us know what it turns out to be though, if you don’t mind.

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 19:52

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery I will! I'm hoping it's something simple like the food causing it x

Sounds like it’s not a food allergy then, bless him. It’s so hard when they’re your little ones, sure vet can get to the bottom of it, meanwhile try not to worry. Can you keep him separate so the others can’t lick it?

And, you know, if you wanted to post more pics, that would be fine... 🐶🐶

DeeTractor · 05/08/2020 20:02

Could it be puppy acne?

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 20:07

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery I can definitely post more photos! We are trying to keep him away from the other puppies as much as possible.
@DeeTractor yes could definitely be puppy acne. Does it normally clear on its own?

Unlikely to be a reaction to the previous antibiotics after a couple of weeks.

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 20:17

@Wotrewelookinat it feels quite rough and he cries when we put cream on it 😓

OP posts:
Wotrewelookinat · 05/08/2020 20:21

Ah, poor thing. Might be best to leave it alone...what time is your vet appointment tomorrow?

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 20:26

@Wotrewelookinat it's at 4.15 they are all going tomorrow anyway for their injections, don't think vet was too worried as he said it will be fine to wait for tomorrow's appointment instead of bringing him down today ( as he gets travel sickness 🙈) so didn't want to cause anymore stress, this little pup is the one who has had a couple of medical bumps in the road x

@Wotrewelookinat someone just said it looks like juvenile cellulitis and now I'm really worried as after some googling it looks exactly the same 😓

OP posts:
LaurieFairyCake · 05/08/2020 21:30

Oh you poor thing, I've just googled juvenile cellulitis and it can be cured with antibiotics? It looks awful Thanks

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 21:32

@LaurieFairyCake a vet on my other thread in doghouse ( I made this one as none responded on the original one) said that he will need high doses of steroids for a few weeks😓
