Can I ask the height of your 6-8 year olds?

Had DS and DSS at a local attraction recently that had height restrictions so measured DS against one of the boards and he is just over 140cm Shock he's 7yrs 6months. I've obviously noticed he's on the tall side but it seems he's had a big growth spurt in lockdown. Just seems crazy hes now technically tall enough to not need a car seat (not that we plan on going without anytime soon)

How tall are your kids of similar ages? Reckon its just genetics?

Same here op. I thought iyt was 145cm for no car seat?

@AnotherFuckingUsername saw your follow up 😆. I'm 5ft 9 but size 6 however DH is size 12 so we may also have flippers.

135 cm

The law requires all children travelling in the front or rear seat of any car, van or goods vehicle must use the correct child car seat until they are either135 cm in height or 12 years old (which ever they reach first). After this they must use an adult seat belt. There are very few exceptions.

I find height & how people grow at different rates fascinating. I come from a tall family as did DH but we all grew later. In primary I was the 2nd shortest out of my friendship group, a yr later 2nd tallest.

At just over 7, DS was 136. He's 9 now and I'm not sure how tall he is exactly but he comes up to my nose and I'm 163 so he must be around 150? Some kids are just freakishly tall! Grin Size 5 feet.

According to the "double their height when they are 2" theory, he's going to be 6ft4.

6 year old (6 end of July) is 102cm and is the smallest in their class by quite a lot

7y 6m boy is 130cm so yours is definitely tall.
Mine is taller than his mates at 130!

Car seat law is 135cm or 12yo...

My 8 year old 145cm tall , size 5 feet . Same size as me . 98 centile in height according to the charts . My husband is 6ft 5. I'm 5ft 5.

My just turned 9 year old is 151cm (I’m 154) and my 6 year old (7 in 3 months) is 127cm.
Their youngest brother (just turned 5).

I was talking to the doctor during a meds review for my oldest and she said he’s in the 98th% height wise, which doesn’t surprise me as he’s always been long and lean memories of 6lb 9oz baby with long skinny legs and big feet

For the first time ever on one of these threads, my DD seems short. She's approx 145cm, with size 3 feet, at just turned 9. She's catching up with her adult female relatives.

Her more average sister is about 128cm, with size 12.5 feet, at aged 7 and 4months. Which I find amusing as we had trouble getting her aged 3-4 uniform when she started school, she needed a harnessed car seat the whole of reception... Then suddenly she grew. I don't think she'll be as tall as her sister, but she might reach my 170cm.

I always find this fascinating. I’m always told ds is so tall but he’s actually pretty average I think and looks very average among the boys and girls in his class. He’s 7y 5m and 125cm with infant size 12 feet (just measured yesterday for new school shoes)

I sometimes think people are just looking for something to say when they comment on height Hmm We are a fairly tall family though, I’m 5’8ish, which is taller than both my parents so no idea where I got my height really. Dh is 6’1 but his brother is a bit taller and his dad is about 6’6. Not sure which way ds will go!

DS is 6 (and nearly 3 months), 129 cm and huge size 5 feet. (I steal his socks...) He's the tallest in his class, by quite a bit. DH is over 6 ft, his brother lots taller - I'm from a family of jockeys! Literally.

Interestingly, my daughters 10 and 8, are "average" height at 138cm and 128cm, but are both around the smallest in their classes.

Just checked the door frame. DD was 131cm on her 7th birthday. Now 5'10.5 at 13.
