How much do you think a cake similar to these would cost?

Wanted to know a rough figure first! Thank you x

Easily £100, possibly quite a bit more. That includes paying for the decorator's skill which probably took years to acquire. A much simpler 'grey rectangle black circle' cake would be cheaper, maybe £40-50 for a custom job.

Standrewsschool · 03/08/2020 18:05

A cake maker told me they charge three times the cost of the ingredients.

HunkyPunk · 03/08/2020 18:32

The Joy I know is quite careful with mioney and probably wouldn't expect to pay more than about £50. I doubt she'd actually shell out for a specially made cake, come to think of it!

If the cake looked as impressive as the pictures, I would expect to pay over £130..

£100 upwards.

Don’t know what the going rate it is for cakes as it’s been a very long time since we bought one.
But looking at that, it looks like a lot of detailed work so going to be on the higher side of pricing.

It’s a cool cake though!

lifesalongsong · 03/08/2020 18:54

You've reminded me that I havent contacted my friend Joy for a while, I should message her, I can ask about the cake but you may have to wait for an answer, she's in OZ and might be asleep.

I have no idea how much cakes cost so can't even guess

JoyMyNameIsJoy · 03/08/2020 20:24

I really wouldn't want a turntable cake, thanks, so I wouldn't pay anything.

Maybe I'm HunkyPunk's friend? Confused

Joy Grin

JoyMyNameIsJoy · 03/08/2020 20:48
Grin just in case...

£100 plus depending on whether it's a home based cake maker or a shop you go to. I found a baker for a similar sized cake based on reviews and customer photos of her work. She was brilliant and near to the party the cake was for - I didn't want to transport a cake for four hours. Cost £90 six years ago and the design was not as detailed as a record player would be.

itsaratrap · 03/08/2020 20:55

It sure about Joy, but I’d expect around £75-90.

itsaratrap · 03/08/2020 20:56

Not, not it.
These typos as a pain, aren’t they (that’ll teach me, trying to be facetious and failing miserably 😬)

Sootikinstew · 03/08/2020 20:57

Three fiddy

SunshineOverStress · 04/08/2020 16:50

Thanks everyone - I was so confused why everyone kept saying joy but now I’ve clocked it haha

I paid £60 for something quite similar for one of DH's birthdays about 5 years ago.

steppemum · 04/08/2020 17:02

if you get one that looks like that, it is very detailed and very high quality, so expect to pay.

i'd be surprised if it was under £100

ChangeThePassword · 04/08/2020 17:05

I would expect to pay about £120.
