I’m feeling frustrated and sad for people who work in industries which are just starting again and anxious about my DD not being able to attends school as her grandparents can’t pick her up.

If it's ok for Dominic Cummings. It's ok for the rest of us peasants.

I never did say I was special. You said that.
( well I’m special to me and my loved ones naturally )

Cor they’ve really done a number on you haven’t they?[/quote]
Nope.

No ones 'done a number' on me.

I just have enough brain cells to understand that a nasty virus is better not spread around the entire population, especially to vulnerable people.

But you seem to think you're exempt from passing it on to others, or simply don't care if you do.

@AmelieTaylor

Thank you for your service to humanity and your sacrifice.

I hope the queen honours you with a special medal.

It sounds like you’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Well done you. What a martyr ! . What a hero/ heroine you are!

Now perhaps you’ll take your sanctimonious arse and go and bore on another thread

Before it gets handed to you on a plate.

We never had a lockdown, just restrictions introduced too late. I wouldn't want those restrictions re-introduced though would accept things such as pub closures if it means schools can re-open. I think schools re-opening is something government really wants, and after all they should know about over 50s as parents or grandparents given the new dad in Downing Street.

Spanish children could not leave the house for over a fortnight, that was a lockdown.

It was longer than that, over a month I think. It fucked their mental health.

Dowser · 05/08/2020 17:26

@mornington27

I’m pretty sure Spanish children were locked up for 7 weeks

I could be wrong , if so, apologies

And that was probably the one sensible decision our government made in this whole shit show... the one not to lock children in their houses for weeks on end.

Looks like Preston may be next. Not really surprised.

Why can’t people just be realistic and sensible?

I agree. The evidence is now pretty clear that the virus pretty much does NOT spread out of doors, with the exception of "serious" crowding type situations (outdoor events, firework festivals etc.) I think what Spain did to children and parents was appalling. Pure "pandemic control theatre"--a measure intended to give the impression of Taking This Seriously but not actually achieving anything. Meanwhile, the virus was allowed to spread WITHIN HOUSEHOLDS in Spain virtually unchecked.

Well someone who doesn't give a shit about others, would think someone who does Is boring.

Thankfully I don't give a shit what you & your little playmate think.

Don't attempt to tell me where I can or can't post. Twat.

cleanermam92 · 07/08/2020 00:30

Yes I am worried. I haven’t broken rules but going to pubs, days out with the kids etc and I can’t imagine not having the freedom to do that now

Because they're too busy being the 'cool kids' & 'the mean girls' And don't GAF about anyone but themselves. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The local lockdown are pointless. I live in one of the areas and people are allowed to travel out of said areas for day trips and holidays. Yet I can't visit my parents in their garden. AGAIN. Or my father in a care home. AGAIN. What a shambles.Hmm

runbummyrun · 09/08/2020 09:12

@itsaratrap @AmelieTaylor

People are being realistic. Reality is NOT wearing a fucking mask that doesn't work.

I didn’t mean just masks (though a properly fitting mask with an effective filter does afford some protection to the wearer as well as protecting others to a greater extent). I meant overall behaviour. Social distancing is vital but much of it seems to have stopped. I drove through Preston a few days ago and there were so many people, no SD at all. The new measures there didn’t come as a surprise. I go into the supermarket late in the day now because despite repeat tannoy messages, people are within inches of each other.

Our small town has a high percentage of sheltered housing and care homes. Walking the dog past the park a couple of evenings ago, there was a group of elderly residents from the McCarthy and Stone flats, having a picnic. Maybe 30/40 people. Nice evening, lovely idea but the circle of chairs were far too close to each other, certainly nowhere near a metre, and several were leaning in to each other really close in conversation.

That’s what I meant. We all need to be much more realistic and sensible in the way we go about everyday things.
A rise in infections is inevitable if people carry on like this.
