Parking - Across my drive

This black Merc does this constantly!! Everyone else that parks there at least makes an effort to park up on cerb. Those neighbors has 5 cars due to 2 adult children.
Shall I leave a note? If there's a 2nd car on my drive he makes it really difficult.

I can't see the problem? You should be able to get out. I'd suggest you reverse onto your driveway and drive out forwards if you find it difficult.

ZeldaSmelda · 01/08/2020 20:18

They aren’t parked across your drive... I get it’s a bit annoying as it looks like there’s space to park elsewhere but I think if you left a note you’d look a bit silly, they aren’t blocking you in, you have loads of room to get out, they aren’t obstructing you in any way.

miraloma · 01/08/2020 20:18

Just reverse in? You should be doing that anyway, will make life easier all round for you

dementedpixie · 01/08/2020 20:18

They aren't across your drive, they are opposite your drive. We have parking like this in our street so always reverse into the drive now

m0use · 01/08/2020 20:19

It's not an offence, and if you can't get out of there, you probably shouldn't be driving!

SoddingWeddings · 01/08/2020 20:19

Nope, you can clearly get on and off the drive even with two cars. It might be nice if they weren't there, but they are neither committing a criminal offence or even parking in an antisocial way.

MagentaRocks · 01/08/2020 20:19

There are no restrictions where they have parked. If you reverse in then surely it would be easier to get out.

SoddingWeddings · 01/08/2020 20:19

Also, you'll find it much easier if you reverse park onto your drive.

Comefromaway · 01/08/2020 20:19

It’s parked perfectly legally. (Those parking up the kerb are the nuisances)

Jonesn1 · 01/08/2020 20:20

SadI guess it just the cheek of it that annoys me! All that space to park but has to be right opposite someone's drive.

heartsonacake · 01/08/2020 20:22

They’re not parking across your drive, and you shouldn’t struggle to get out of it like that. Perhaps you might find it easier if you reverse in.

MotherOfGremlins · 01/08/2020 20:23

Parking up on the kerb may well be illegal - can't see a problem myself.

IndecentFeminist · 01/08/2020 20:23

Surely on a road like that they'd always be opposite someone's drive?

Move those bins and reverse in. It's a pretty wide road as it goes. If someone parked opposite our entrance on the lane there would be no escape!

Nicknacky · 01/08/2020 20:24

Are you really struggling to get out of your driveway?

DoingDiddlySquat · 01/08/2020 20:24

Would they be opposite someone elses drive if they parked further down.

Wafflehouse · 01/08/2020 20:24

It’s less of a problem if you reverse in. There is an entire row of cars opposite my drive that park like that as well as one either side of my drive up on the kerb and our road isn’t particularly wide. It’s a pain but definitely doable and I’m now better at reverse parking because of them.

Sorry, but they aren't 'parked across your drive'

Jeremyironsnothing · 01/08/2020 20:28

Learn to reverse?

Or back into it. I guarantee that they won't do it again...

Mayvis · 01/08/2020 20:29

There’s more space to reverse out and off your drive than if you were reversing out of a supermarket bay space. Reverse in.

vanillandhoney · 01/08/2020 20:30

They're not parked across your driveway, though.

You can easily get out of there. If not, reverse on and drive off.

gnomeisland · 01/08/2020 20:34

It's not a kerb, it's a pavement.

MrsTravers · 01/08/2020 20:35

Think I'd rather have someone park like that than on the kerb. The latter prevents wheelchair users and people with buggies from using the pavement.

ballsdeep · 01/08/2020 20:35

Come on, op. There's no issue here. You can get in and out easily.

PrayingandHoping · 01/08/2020 20:38

I drive a car with the turning circle of a tanker and that car opposite would cause me no problems

This time I really don't think they are being unreasonable at all
