My washing, a confession

icedaisy · 30/07/2020 20:32

I live in rural Scotland and it's rained for about a million days.

Tomorrow is wall to wall sunshine and 27 degrees.

I have just washed all the bedding, protectors, towels, and any dirty clothes and hung them on the line at 8pm.

I have a meeting an hour away at 9am.

By the time I get back they will be dry and the next load of throws, dressing gowns and other big stuff can go out.

I feel like a sneaky genius but I told my mum and she said, like I've read on here, my washing will get darked on and spiders in it.

I don't care. I will have lovely line dry washing for the first time in weeks!

Is this a stealth boast you live in the best place ever??
Imo!!
*despite me currently being covered in Scottish border midges!!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 30/07/2020 20:37

that's nice dear

icedaisy · 30/07/2020 20:37

Ah, @Feralkidsatthecampsite that's where they have gone....

I’ve got a load on now, I’ll put it out when it’s done and by the time I get up tomorrow it will be dry. Perfect.

Batshittery · 30/07/2020 20:42

It must be a long line to fit all that on.

icedaisy · 30/07/2020 20:45

@RunningFromInsanity only 12 overnight here and still showers apparently. Not convinced re forecast tomorrow but shall see. Are you somewhere nice and warm?

@Batshittery basically a field with a rope round it.

Nice one Grin

Undies1990 · 30/07/2020 20:52

Yes, I'm going to wash some coats and throws this evening and put them outside to dry. Yay

DriftGames · 30/07/2020 20:54

I don't let the baby's clothes get darked on but I've got a line of mine and DH's clothes just waiting for the darkness Wink

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 30/07/2020 20:56

Nicely done OP. I love a good washing session and getting it all on the line. I had a day like that yesterday and the day before. Caught up on everything Grin

RunningFromInsanity · 30/07/2020 20:57

@icedaisy 20 overnight, 31 tomorrow 👌🏻

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 30/07/2020 20:57

I have a 10 kilo washing machine full of black things, soon they will be ready to go out and be darked on.

icedaisy · 30/07/2020 20:59

Oops baby clothes also being darked on.

I couldn't tell you last time I managed to do so much washing.

Watch this it's going to piss it down all day despite the forecast and the goats will hide under my washing and eat it, just my luck.

Glad there are other happy night time hangers out there.

NewCatMummy · 30/07/2020 20:59

YANBU do it!! Spider willies don’t bother me ( mil is a smug everything is line dried person with a much smaller household than us and at home rather a lot more to dodge the showers 😩).

SEE123 · 30/07/2020 21:03

Someone please help me with what "darked on" means 🤔

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 30/07/2020 21:04

I can't leave things that belong indoors outside at night. I feel guilty, but I'm really weird. I would have had to hang it out in the morning.

icedaisy · 30/07/2020 21:05

@SEE123 been a debate here a few times I gather where if you leave washing out overnight or indeed hang it out overnight it gets dark on it and that's not good.....for no real reason I don't think other than its dark.

I'm risking it though, spiders and all!

OP posts:
SEE123 · 30/07/2020 21:12

@icedaisy oh sh*t... does it only count if it's hanging outside? I've had closed hanging inside every night since approx 1992 🤣🤣🤣

TwentyViginti · 30/07/2020 21:13

YOU HAVE GOATS???? Pics please.

icedaisy · 30/07/2020 21:16

@SEE123 hmmm. Not sure I just remember it was bad!

@TwentyViginti mil does but they tend to exercise their right to roam. I will try and take some tomorrow of them not eating my washing

GuyFawkesDay · 30/07/2020 21:18

Sad to say but I'm planning on washing sofa covers, pillows, cushions etc tomorrow as they'll dry so fast!

TwentyViginti · 30/07/2020 21:22

Awwww thanks OP! Smile

Queenest · 30/07/2020 21:28

Thanks OP you have reminded me, I’m putting a load on now.

lockeddown92 · 30/07/2020 21:41

I have a load in with the delay set to start in the morning. Once it's out I'll get the bed linen off the bed and wash that too. I'm overly excited...

DidSheReallySayThat20 · 30/07/2020 21:46

I do this.. I currently have 3 single duvet covers and sheets etc out from the kids beds and the towels.
Our bedding in machine.
And baby's washing will go in after. That will get pegged out in the morning.

I have a 28ft high line. And love getting loads out

I'm a saddo who searches for laundry just so I can peg it out.. Did all the curtains last week. Even jet washed the play room rug with the line low then hoisted up so would dry in the sun.

I need a life 😂
