Can't believe I've never watched the sunrise...how long before sunrise should we get there?

I'm 38 and its dawned on me that I've never watched the sunrise, I mean I've been up at that time but never sat and watched it. So....I'm going to get the children really early tomorrow, pack some breakfast and go to the moors. So, it says sunrise is 5.45am tomorrow. What time should we get there, half an hour before? Dont want to get up that early and miss it!!

Enjoy your adventure - sunrises are wonderful

HeronLanyon · 31/07/2020 04:46

Sky is pretty light currently - central London here. Wish I were tramping across exmoor with swimming stuff for later !

ALLIS0N · 31/07/2020 05:02

It’s light here at 5am but no sun yet. How is it on Exmoor?

Oops I don’t know why it’s upside down 😳

Its light here too on the south coast but again, no sun yet. I've been to Stonehenge a few times for the summer solstice - that's always incredible. Enjoy, OP! Don't forget to post pics for us all!

HeronLanyon · 31/07/2020 05:08

allison are you in Australia ? Grin

LividLaughLovely · 31/07/2020 05:09

Sunrise and first light are different, as I found out when doing similar... Did you make it on time, OP?

CrockyBetter · 31/07/2020 07:17

I love watching the sunrise. I'm an early riser and if its nice out I'll do yoga outside as the sun is rising.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 31/07/2020 07:20

agree sunrise is great, particularly in the winter/spring Grin

IT WAS AMAZING!! It was beautiful and clear we also saw deer, Exmoor ponies with their goals, Exmoor cattle and their calves, hedgehogs, rabbits, bird of prey. We had the best time and now home to bacon sandwhiches!!

ClashCityRocker · 31/07/2020 08:50

Ah, this is one of the very few pros of having sleep maintenance insomnia... Love it when we're on holiday up in the dales and watching the sun come up over the hills.

IndigoSkye · 31/07/2020 08:54

Sounds amazing, what a great start to the day

thousandflowers · 31/07/2020 08:56

Just press the paper clip button.

ScottIansEyebrows · 31/07/2020 08:58

A guy stayed awake all night wondering what had happened to the sun. It finally dawned on him.

Chimchar · 31/07/2020 09:03

Sounds amazing! Can't wait to see a pic.

I think I'm going to do this in the next few weeks...thanks for the inspiration!

Proudtocare · 31/07/2020 09:13
