Can't believe I've never watched the sunrise...how long before sunrise should we get there?

I'm 38 and its dawned on me that I've never watched the sunrise, I mean I've been up at that time but never sat and watched it. So....I'm going to get the children really early tomorrow, pack some breakfast and go to the moors. So, it says sunrise is 5.45am tomorrow. What time should we get there, half an hour before? Dont want to get up that early and miss it!!

It's in memory of someone called Froude Handcock.

Is that the comet you've captured in the middle shot? (Neowise??)

I am sniggering to myself about Exmoor ponies and their goals - even ponies are so hip these days!

What a fantastic idea Proudtocare

That looks absolutely glorious!
I love being up at first light, and your post inspired me to go for an early walk today, leaving the husband snoring.
Try seeing sunrise on a frosty winter morning in January too, if you can!

Well why shouldn’t exmoor ponies have goals? Good for them. Overcoming a lot of hurdles. Striving.
Unusual for a casual sunrise passerby to be aware of them, granted.

I'm shocked. Have you really never stayed up that late?

OP I read your post at 2am when I couldn’t sleep, you inspired me to stay up and I went with my other half to watch the sunrise at the coast. We got there at 4.30am and got the last parking spot. It was lovely, groups of teenagers meeting to watch then surf and families with children in their pyjamas. It was an amazing experience- Thankyou!

Wait til December, then you can have a nice lie-in until 0730 and still see the sunrise Grin.

It was really special and it shows you dont need much money to make memories. I hope they will remember the time I woke them up at 4am to do watch the sunrise. I know we are lucky to live where we do.

Yes, we will definitely be doing it then too. Things is weather is very unpredictable up there, I'd love to do a cold, sunny crisp morning with hot chocolates!
