Sylvanian family game changer!

LordGarmadon · 27/07/2020 19:56

I was tidying up the kids' toys today to prepare for the builders (and the dust). As I packed away the obscene amount of Sylvanian family paraphernalia and attempted to carry it upstairs in as few trips as possible, I discovered that the building stack on top of each other!

DD is now the proud owner of a Sylvanian family tower block on her bedside table.

I'm so amazed that I felt I needed to pass this on! You're welcome.

I have already purchased dd2s santa pressieWink She's asking for the Sylvanian ballet theatre (it's so cute) the 2 ballerina sylvanians & the ice skating figures...
Our Sylvanian's cause chaos also, ote boutique & gelato shop are regularly looted so it will be good to introduce a bit of culture to our village hereGrin

LaViudaNegra · 28/07/2020 14:12

I follow my kids' lead when it comes to their interests and toys and tastes. Except Sylvanians- I admit it's 100% led by me and my previously unfulfilled childhood desire to have some. We have joined the fan club and get the quarterly magazine (it's great value, but it's me who has a good read through it while my children just watch TV). I also used some of the animals as cake toppers for my daughter's recent birthday and it looked so cute. Luckily they're semi-interested, particularly my 2.5 year old. They're really well made toys!

BillBaileysBum · 28/07/2020 14:12

My daughter never really got into her Sylvanians and I’ve never quite forgiven her 😂

LaViudaNegra · 28/07/2020 14:13

I did not know about the stacking, I've just tried and it works!!!!

LordGarmadon · 28/07/2020 14:29

I hope 7 isn't too old! We're about to have an extension so DD can have her own Sylvanian world bedroom! We're investing for life... they're getting saved for the grandkids Grin

I'm looking at DDs stacked shops right now. I knew they could stack (thank fuck, she has quite a bit and it takes up a lot of space).

DD is 9 and still plays with hers and wants more. She loves it. I was deprived as a child and never had it so I indulge her 😁.

Alonelonelyloner · 28/07/2020 16:17

Words can't quite express how much online Sylvanian Families and I only discovered them a fortnight ago.

I will remortgage and buy the lot!

Alonelonelyloner · 28/07/2020 16:18

I love NOT online. Bloody phone

RosieLemonade · 28/07/2020 16:28

Anyone willing to share any pictures. I agree with @Alonelonelyloner. I’m getting obsessed.

LordGarmadon · 28/07/2020 16:34

Has anyone got the country clinic? I'm thinking of getting it for DD for Christmas.

3years ago I dug out the old Sylvanians and the grandchildren had a Sylvanian day .
It all lives in roll out boxes under the spare bed and we have more coming for birthdays .
Funnily enough the barge is very rarely touched !
The second photo is them at Christmas with their tree .

remember once going into DC’s room to fetch something. No children in there but MIL was playing with Sylvanians

I am dead jealous (and will nevr be a MIL!

Thisismytimetoshine · 28/07/2020 18:03

They're amazing, Trumpton. I love the Christmas one. I'd put that on the mantle piece at Christmas if I had one.
It's probably just as well that I don't Grin

Will0wtree · 28/07/2020 19:13

I really want Sylvanians......My son is thirty....can I use the excuse that I'm buying them for him.......? (Perhaps if I make them little Red Dead Redemption or The Last of Us outfits........ I could splatter some blood around the little shops and break a couple of windows....)

startrek90 · 28/07/2020 19:29

I always wanted sylvanian families but knew better than to ask as they were so expensive. A couple of weeks ago my dh saw the ship for 30 euros and bought it(I am expecting a girl and so that was my excuse) I love it! And so do my boys as it turns out. I fully admit that I am pushing this going forward. Love three previous posters idea of a birthday cake topper!

queenofelves · 28/07/2020 19:39

My DD 4 got into sylvanians at Christmas and I LOVE it! My MIL managed to get some second hand from another relative a few months ago, including the barge and the most amazing lighthouse! The lighthouse has little cards with different patterns on which slot into the top and the light then projects them onto the ceiling. Dd makes a camp under the stairs in the dark and spends hours playing with the lighthouse.
I want to bring it home but apparently it's a toy for their house EnvyGrin

killerofmen · 28/07/2020 19:47

@LordGarmadon

"On the box"... Well, I suddenly feel like Captain Scott when he reached the South Pole and discovered Amundsen had been there first!
This thread did not disappoint Grin
IamaBluebird · 28/07/2020 20:25

Such a nice thread. Lovely sylvanian photos at Christmas. Also mil playing with the children's toys is so sweet.
I bought a black bag full of houses and families a few years ago. Gave them to the grand children. Except for one little mouse who sits on my dressing table Smile

The lighthouse looks amazing but DD isn't interested, weirdo!

I'm definitely buying Christmas editions this year, I'll justify it by telling DH and myself that the kids have had a tough year but I'm already planning the scenes that I might not let the children touch.

When DD1 was about four I thought she might get into Sylvanian families. Her sister was two and I thought it might be nice to buy her a set and then they could share.

DD1 just eyeballed me sternly and said 'I am NOT playing with animals in clothes.'

And that was the end of my Sylvanian dream...

DelurkingAJ · 28/07/2020 20:42

I gave mine away when my DParents downsized. Wail!

DukeOfEarlGrey · 28/07/2020 20:43

Loved Sylvanians and am weirdly invested in the notion of stackable buildings despite having no DC of my own and no Sylvanians anymore!

My favourites were the duck family - I adored the three little ducklings:

@Zaphodsotherhead, you need to chat with @BillBaileysBum about your disappointing children!

What child wouldn't love animals in clothes Grin Although ours are usually naked so maybe DD finds it a bit weird too!
