A. Do a total rewash
B. Do a rinse and spin
C. Don't rewash and hang up inside/tumble dry
D. Leave it there until it stops raining and it dries where it is

As you can probably guess I've left my washing out and it's rained

The rain makes clothes wrinkle free!!

Unless it's supposed to be raining for days, I'll just leave it. If it's already wet, it's wet

sMouse · 25/07/2020 00:39

D, I live in the Highlands and it can be sunny one second and raining the next, so not unheard of for my washing to be out on the line a couple of days

Dullardmullard · 25/07/2020 07:56

D

Sometimes it for a few days as weather is unpredictable at the best of times and don’t follow the weather forecast as it’s always something different

AllsortsofAwkward · 25/07/2020 07:59

Asked dh to take clothes in yesterday as I went to bed early as I didn't feel well and it rained. The clothes smell fresh(we don't live in a city) so just put it in the drier.

cravingthelook · 25/07/2020 08:10

I accidentally did D the other day, I thought the washing smelled great when I did bring it in later. I'm in a semi rural place.

DinosApple · 25/07/2020 08:15

D. I regularly do this. It smells wonderful for a day or two out.

wifflewafflebiscuit · 25/07/2020 08:17

When I lived on the outskirts of London A as there would be streaks on it. Now I live by the sea D

Nicolastuffedone · 25/07/2020 08:20

Never leave my washing out all night. If it gets caught in a downpour, I re wash it.....look at the dirt on your windows after heavy rain..

WinterHasRuinedMyFace · 25/07/2020 08:26

D. Hanging up wet washing is a one time effort and it will stay where it is until it’s dry. Also we have horrible hard water here so a nice rain water rinse makes the clothes a lot softer.

I grew up in the north of Scotland. It's that windy that it's quicker to leave it out to dry after a shower than to take it in (and it never gets dark in the summer). And a good flap outside makes your clothes far softer than any tumble dryer.
bumblingbovine49 · 25/07/2020 08:30

C or D based on my judgement of how long it will rain and/ or how wet the clothes are

SickOfNorthernExile · 25/07/2020 08:30

D

I’ve had washing on my line for a week before now Grin (up north. Don’t think we’ve had a totally dry day in about 8937749 years).

It’s actually great for getting stubborn stains out of clothes- a few rain and sun cycles.

Grandmi · 25/07/2020 08:32

D

Kaiserin · 25/07/2020 08:44

Depends where you live. In my small town, probably D (unless the birds also had a go...)

In a big polluted city... Well, I guess I wouldn't let the washing dry outdoors because of air pollution, anyway (anyone else noticed their hair feels all icky and smells like smoke after spending a day in a big city? I imagine clothes would be the same)

It's more borderline if you live in the outskirt of a big city. I guess I'd give it a chance to dry, but if it pongs afterwards, full rewash.

IncrediblySadToo · 25/07/2020 08:44

My house is always quite warm, so I bring it in at night, even if it's still slightly damp (or become damp when the dampness descends). But if It was dripping wet I'd leave it out
I have no problem with it being rained on here, it smells nice & is soft. When I lived in London I'd bring it in & Put it through a rinse Cycle. I know the airs the same wet or dry, but the pollution seemed to stick more when the clothes were rained on

Here is only bring it in if it looked like we were in for several days of rain & id only doing it if it was dripping wet.

My neighbour, like a previous poster, definitely sees hanging it out as a one off crucify & here can be out there for over a week in the winter. Only two of them do not an issue for them.

IncrediblySadToo · 25/07/2020 08:45

Activity not crucify...bloody phone. I'm not reading my post as Christ know what else it's changed!! (That just caught my eye)

Youvegotafriendinme · 25/07/2020 08:47

I’m with @AuntyPasta. Can’t imagine this ever happening!

My neighbour Leaves one load out for days and every time I see it it gives me the shudders!

Aquicknamechange2019 · 25/07/2020 09:19

D! It's always so soft and smells fabulous

Scruffyoak · 25/07/2020 09:21

C or d

BoxAndKnife · 25/07/2020 11:20

My neighbour Leaves one load out for days and every time I see it it gives me the shudders!

The shudders? Really? Why on earth?

All those people saying 'ewww no, rain is dirty, I know because my windows look dirty after it's rained' - that's because your windows are dirty already. It's not the rain. Do you get dirty if you get caught out in a shower?

Also, stop fucking tumble drying everything.

NobbyButtons · 25/07/2020 11:33

D. It dries once it has stopped raining.

Thisismytimetoshine · 25/07/2020 11:36

Being grossed out by someone else's washing hanging on a washing line is a mental health issue, seriously. Get some help.

OhTheRoses · 25/07/2020 11:41

I am going to whisper this

Nicolastuffedone · 25/07/2020 11:56

BoxAndKnife My windows really aren’t dirty, I have them cleaned fortnightly, in, I don’t get dirty after heavy rain, but then, I’m not made of glass, I like my washing to be outside and my preference is to bring it in if I’m at home and it rains, if not I rewash! Oh! And I’ll tumble dry if I like....

Motherofmonsters · 25/07/2020 18:41

There's a lot more people going with D then I was expecting!

I went with C in the end as there was no end to the rain
