Do you know that I can see if you’ve watched my fb story?

Just a straw poll really, I want to see who knows that if you watch someone’s facebook story, they can see that you’ve watched, or if you didn’t know that.

Just because I’ve had a few unexpected viewers recently and I don’t think they realise I know they are watching Grin

ffs just delete Facebook and most importantly twitter, this self indulgent and over-paranoid shite coming from this crap is surreal. Not a dig at you OP but really where the fuck are we going if this shit is what matters. Over and over agin the useless teen with a duck pout.

QueenOfPain · 23/07/2020 04:50

@eveningfalls Your high horse is tired and he wants you to get off.

😂😂 best comment I’ve seen in a long while

I didn't know this, but then I've never posted a story and don't have Snapchat. Not bothered though, surely stories are there to be watched. 🤷🏼‍♀️

cariadlet · 23/07/2020 06:05

I didn't know Facebook had introduced stories and didn't know that you could tell who had seen it. I've got Instagram but have never bothered posting a story so that wouldn't have helped me.

GreenTeaMug · 23/07/2020 06:55

eveningfalls i think you misunderstand the point of facebook... the point is to stay in touch with people without actually ever having to interact with them. Grin

Seriously though- never mind the duck pout teenagers.... it's the duck pout adults that wierd me out!!

But what I find fascinating about fb is the people you think are sensible who enter into epic social media spats. Makes you see them in a whole new light.

And the animal ears/noses added to photos.

Confused ok if you're 12...

Hardbackwriter · 23/07/2020 08:34

Oh god, I did not know this. I quite often watch ones my SIL puts up because they're pictures/videos of my beautiful niece and nephew (I think she puts them up like this so they don't stay up long?) but then it goes automatically onto the next one and I do sometimes keep watching, normally marvelling at why the hell this girl from school thinks anyone wants to know about her dinner or why my old colleague has put up another pompous political rant. If they can see I've done that then that's the last time I do that!!Blush

Raimona · 23/07/2020 08:36

I did not know this. Won’t be watching them in future!

Pmspam · 23/07/2020 08:48

I didn’t know this and, like previous posters, have only accidentally opened one of these when flicking up or down. I don’t know why they make me feel a bit icky (after all the whole concept of Facebook is) but they really do so I’d never open one voluntarily Envy not envy

FabulouslyGlamourousFerret · 23/07/2020 08:59

As far as I'm aware it's only your 'Facebook friends' that are named as 'viewing your story'

So, if you've stalked your ex's 'public' story it will just come up as a number ie: your friends Fred, Wilma and Betty viewed your story and 22 others.

I'm not sure about Instagram.

gamerchick · 23/07/2020 09:01

I only ever watch people’s stories accidentally, when I hit them while scrolling back to the top

Same here. I don't like scrolly stuff that move on their own accord.

SauvignonBlanketyBlank · 23/07/2020 09:03

Yes it tells you when you press on your story

hopeishere · 23/07/2020 09:03

I did know this but I generally think people put up Facebook stories by accident!!

It's the same with Instagram but I don't know if you only can see whose views for a short time or if you can download a list of names or if you can see it permanently.

peterpan765 · 23/07/2020 09:44

I didn't know this !

MrsVMorgan · 23/07/2020 09:47

Yep I knew! Same on Instagram etc Smile And I agree it’s very interesting to see who watches (and then pretends they don’t!)

Alloverthegrapevine · 23/07/2020 09:50

I don't really understand what these stories are for but presumably they're put there in the hope that people will look at them.

The only ones I see are ones I view accidentally.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/07/2020 10:03

I knew it. Same with Instagram.

SisterAgatha · 23/07/2020 10:55

I think most people put up stories specifically so they can see who watches. That is the point. I have an ex who watches every story that I am pictured in, but not any that doesn’t have my face in. I don’t think he knows either or surely he’d stop that.

Back to my aunt, she doesn’t have insta or snapchat, so there’s no way she’d know this. It’s hilarious when she protests she never uses her fb and I can see that she is online Grin

CoffeeRunner · 23/07/2020 10:58

Yes I did know. Only because I accidentally posted something as a “story” once myself!

BertieBotts · 23/07/2020 11:05

Only my toddler posts them randomly because the button to add one is huge and colourful.

I don't have snapchat and don't use instagram/whatsapp stories, nor do I follow any boring "influencers" so I probably wouldn't know if he hadn't posted them for me!

mummabear1967 · 23/07/2020 11:36

My DD has snapchat and is always posting stories on it. She’s constantly telling me who has viewed her story

AriettyHomily · 23/07/2020 11:45

Yes I knew this. If I'm going to post something in fb which is rare these days anyway I put it on stories so it disappears.

Inituntiltheend · 24/07/2020 18:09

That’s interesting so if you are set to public you can’t see who viewed except friends?

I did view someone’s last weekend by accident (a friends ex and we aren’t friends) I’ve been thinking all week he is probably wondering why I viewed it 🙈 all it was was a coffee too - I was on his page as someone told me he was now with a girl we know well and I meant to click his profile photo but it opened the story !

MsEllany · 24/07/2020 18:16

I didn’t know but I don’t care.
