I've just signed up for my first box, has anyone done it before?

I'm very much a plain Jane of black, white and denim.

Not sure what I'm hoping for - a fashion miracle?!

Hi! I had my first box last week. I was really hoping for a full outfit, like on the ads, but it wasnt. Although i have requested a full outfit For next time in my feedback.

The whole box was very me. My dh said ‘thats so you’ with every item. There was a lovely navy dress and burnt orange shoes, Grey jeans, cream jumper and a bag. There were outfit cards to.
Fingers crossed I get the outfit next time as puttng a full outfit together is what I struggle with.

kleew1 · 22/07/2020 23:20

Oh this is good to know! I feel like when it was asking my style I was all over the place with what I wanted and what my style was (mixing both). Going to say I want a full outfit too as I'm the same!

I have just tried it for the reasons you mentioned, everything that fits in my wardrobe is black or grey.

I actually really liked the outfit they put together, I just didn't like the quality for the price of the clothes. E.g. an All Saints t-shirt was £30 and it wasn't hemmed properly, so it was curling up. I think the jeans in the box were £60 but felt the same quality as Dorothy Perkins jeggings which sag after 2 wears.

So not sure I'll be using it again.

NancyNoNickers · 22/07/2020 23:29

I love mine, initially signed up for one every few months, but now gone to every two months. Style is spot on and they listen to feedback. I really like it because I hate shopping so love getting everything sent already put together.

Thirty2andBlue · 22/07/2020 23:30

I really liked that they included the outfit suggestion cards though, and I do feel like the stylist really tried to pick things I liked. So it's not all negative!

how much is it? i love the clothes on the ads hut think it will be too much for me!

BellaMoo · 23/07/2020 07:11

I wasn’t impressed with my first box (all nice but not ‘me’) but felt they really listened to feedback with my second box which was much more my style.

I’ve just had my 3rd box and was pretty specific about what I wanted and I got things that I wouldn’t have picked myself but totally loved. For me it’s worth it to have some handpicked items which are good quality.

kleew1 · 23/07/2020 07:55

I'm not sure exactly how much it is, it's £10 to get the clothes delivered then you select your price bracket for items. I chose the lower level for them all as in some cases (40 - 60 for a top) I thought it was steep but then I also feel that's my issue im trying to overcome: not being so tight!

I've tried stitch fix and lookiero.

The stitch fix was really not my style at all, I was really disappointed! That being said, I got one for dh for his birthday and he liked his!

I really liked everything in my lookiero box, and found the options for prices better as well. If anyone wants to try lookiero over got a referral code that will give both of us a discount!

Thirty2andBlue · 23/07/2020 08:18

@EspressoPatronum have sent you a pm as I'm interested in trying Lookiero!

Heartofstrings · 23/07/2020 08:21

I have had two stitch fix boxes. I specifically requested outfits and also asked that the boxes build on eachother and match together. Both of mine have been brilliant. That said, a family member had a box and the whole thing was awful

PrincessLouis · 23/07/2020 10:01

I tried Stitch Fix and was really unimpressed - I tried hard with describing what I wanted, doing the little quizzes on what you like to train the algorithm & giving feedback but both boxes were truly terrible & I looked awful - it was depressing

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2020 10:48

Stitch fix are all over the style and beauty board which makes me think we’re being spammed.

Mum45678 · 23/07/2020 11:00

I've had quite a few boxes from them. I might do the odd one now and again but probably give Lookiero a try instead next time.

I definitely got some great items in my boxes but whenever I asked for things it felt like they never go quite what I wanted. I asked for an oversized work bag and got a tiny handbag. I asked for denim shorts and got mustard shorts which looked horrible on me. I have red hair and have said this in my feedback but they still insisted on sending items that really didn't suit me colour wise.

It's good for getting you out of a rut but I wouldn't get it every month.

kleew1 · 23/07/2020 11:25

Yeah I've ordered a 1 off box just now. Coming 31st July so I'll let you all know how I get on. I'm such a contradiction tho and with each comment on here I've went back on and changed my stylist note!

Also not sure what you mean re spammed? I seen it on instagram yesterday which made me sign up. Hadn't heard of it before now, hence the post.

CharlotteS0metimes · 23/07/2020 21:06

I've ordered one and it'll be arriving around the 30th

I feel I'm a bit of a style challenge so we will see what turns up! I'm a very casual dresser, t shirts and jeans and trainers, lounge wear stuff etc. No heels or skirts or suits or smart wear. Oh and I like to have an edgy or 'trendy' twist - I like to look scruffy yet expensive

And I feel this could be a challenge for them as it only makes sense in my own head 😂

kleew1 · 24/07/2020 09:34

You need to report back @CharlotteS0metimes I'll do the same.

OP posts:
CharlOtteSometime · 24/07/2020 10:13

@kleew1 I will do!

I'd actually forgotten that I filled in all the blurb - so height and weight etc, over a year ago when I was deliberating it then but never went for it. Thank god I remembered to go back and look at this as I'm two stone lighter now. It didn't prompt me or anything to check that my details were correct so god knows what would have turned up!

Anyway, quite exciting to see what arrives.

NancyNoNickers · 25/07/2020 14:03

I just got my third box and despite loving it previously this box sucked😂will be trying again though.

CharlOtteSometime · 25/07/2020 21:04

@NancyNoNickers that's a shame. What did you get? Are returns super easy?

Littlebelina · 25/07/2020 21:17

I found it easy, just packed the items I didn't like back in the box, stuck the pre printed sticker on and dropped it off at post office. I got a one off box, brought 2 items and might try again in 6 months. It was fun but not something I'd do all the time

Justnotfeelingit · 25/07/2020 21:21

Mine was awful!
Two stand-our items:

  • a cropped t-shirt. I’m 42 ffs and put in my profile that my stomach was an area I want to cover.
  • size 12S jeans, so a 27” inside leg. I have a 32” inside leg, again this was in my profile.

I really felt like they’d just chucked some random leftovers in a box. Really disappointing.

highlandcoo · 25/07/2020 22:28

I got my first box this week and didn't keep anything although on two items they were nearly right with only small details that made the items not suit me.

However .. I have auburn hair and said no pink, red, yellow, maroon etc, and to go for brown and navy rather than black, and they sent me a black and pink top and a black handbag which are useless. Not impressed by that.

I've filled in a detailed feedback form and will give it one more go as I like the idea of trying clothes that I wouldn't necessarily pick up myself in a shop.

Oh and I like to have an edgy or 'trendy' twist - I like to look scruffy yet expensive Me too Charlotte! It's quite hard to explain though

NancyNoNickers · 26/07/2020 00:13

Reruns are easy, just go into the site and say what your returning, stock the return label on the box and bring to post office (you can bring it to other places too but post office is easiest for me). I got jeans and a top that were too big, though I liked the style, a dress which I did like but would normally wear to work, but am now WFH, so it’s actually my own fault for not updating my preferences. Also a really random oasis skirt which I wasn’t keen on. @CharlotteS0metimes

CharlOtteSometime · 30/07/2020 12:30

Stitch Fix arrived today! And surprisingly I'm keeping it all I think

I received ...

Black high neck thin jumper with a frill neck

Black poly silk shirt

High rise jeans

Cashmere striped jumper

Superga sport leopard trainers - all white with just a leopard print at the heel

I'm amazed the jeans fit but I see they're very like Uniqlo ones so you look at them and think ' blimey they look small!' yet they have amazing stretch capabilities and they're high waisted

The clothes seem decent enough quality and they go quite a way to fitting my brief which I've explained below is quite awkward! I like a very casual, lounge wear, scruffy (ish) trendy look and they're more or less spot on really.

Size wise it's correct. I'm a stupid chubby apple shape and about a size 14. Everything they sent is a M or 14 and all fits fine. The shirt could potentially be a tad bit roomier but that's me being picky - it's completely wearable

So yeah - I'm impressed! I'll definitely order again.
