For all those who wore Ananya by Body Shop in the 90's

The Primark Clean Cotton reed diffuser smells just like it. My bedroom smells like my teen bedroom circa 1994. It's so evocative and I think I would kill to go back to that era even just for a while

I think we should petition the Bodyshop to bring these scents back as a special edition!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 23/07/2020 22:03

Dewberry reminds me of being 14 again, bath pearls, passionfruit flavoured pips, hanging around at the school sports centre on a Friday night watching the boys playing squash from the balcony!

Great thread Smile

Extracurricularfatigue · 23/07/2020 22:05

I wore White Musk on my first date. So many memories.

I, um, still have a bottle of Ananya, open but usable. Not sure how old it must be!

justdontatme · 23/07/2020 22:07

Omg Gypsy from Impulse! Yes!

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 23/07/2020 22:08

I have some Ananya bath stuff, might go and find it and have a sniff! Last time I Tried it still had a nice scent..

Scruffyoak · 23/07/2020 22:10

Used to love impulse o2

GileadWivesAreFashionIcons · 23/07/2020 22:12

I bloody loved a Body Shop fragrance! I had Ananya towards the end of secondary school and I felt so grown up! Does anyone remember the fragrance bar type thing they had with bottles with glass rods in them for you to test the scents?

GileadWivesAreFashionIcons · 23/07/2020 22:13

@Scruffyoak now there’s a blast from the past! I loved O2 but completely forgot it existed. I can literally smell it now!

TitianaTitsling · 23/07/2020 22:16

Loved Ananya and o2! With the bright green canister that was the cool girl scent for gym!

beela · 23/07/2020 22:19

Fuzzy peach, anyone?

Fatarseflanagan09 · 23/07/2020 22:20

I’ve been looking for something that smells like gypsy from impulse, it reminds me of my teens, everything seems to smell fruity now and it’s all the same.

I am sooo jealous, mine had lost all scent and just smelt like slightly off lanolin 😢

Vanilla Musk from Boots was another one I loved.

Also, does anyone remember Woolworths (probably available at other places) doing a roll on deodorant, black bottle, orange scented? Similar time, maybe a little earlier?

OP, thank you, going to stock up on those, takes me right back

Me too! Weirdly it smelt better on everyone else, or sprayed in the air, but on me it smelt like washing powder Sad
Extracurricularfatigue · 23/07/2020 22:33

I wonder how much a fragrance match would cost, like the DIY store paint match. Probably an awful lot more. Grin

This is what the Perfume Society suggests to ‘match’ Ananya.

Yes to the bottles with glass rods, we never had a local Body Shop so anytime we went to a place with one it was a stock up occasion. Still remember my cousin (I was going to be her bridesmaid) taking me to her local one and treating me. Also one of the few places that catered for us very pale people, at least back then.

Jeezus, not sure if I’m reliving my youth or realising I may be investing in a Zimmer frame in my near future 😂

I’m in!

I loved ananya.

Extracurricularfatigue · 23/07/2020 22:52

Quite a bit of vintage stuff on eBay. Who loved Moonflower?

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 23/07/2020 22:59

Vanilla smells remind me of the 90s - can you remember when impulse did four or five variations on a Vanilla smell - I think one was Vanilla Kisses.

Takes me right back to snogging Mark Williams outside the maths block. Sigh.

Extracurricularfatigue · 23/07/2020 22:59

And searching on Ananya is well worth it!

pippitypoppitypoo · 23/07/2020 23:05

Oh wow the bottles with glass rods! I used to spend ages in the body shop smelling all the different scents, never buying anything. They would make a really satisfying clink as you pulled them out. Great memories!

Gunpowder · 23/07/2020 23:08

Ohhh I remember all the Vanilla impulses too Allmyarseandpeggymartin - they smelled gorgeous at the time but my mum was really snobby about impulse and said it smelled like ‘sa-a-dee nite at the disco’ Hmm

Also loved Ananya. Someone gave it to me for my 13th birthday I think along with a mini body shop make up kit. Those were the days!

Athenajm80 · 23/07/2020 23:13

Dewberry and fuzzy peach fan here. I think my sister like White Musk, partly cause she thought it was more grown up then the childish sweet fragrances I preferred 😊 I used to love the (I think it was called) Natural range in Boots, they did a lush vanilla lip balm but the lipstick style one of you know what I mean.
I miss the 90s, cheap Body Shop, and the Boots range. May I join you on the holiday please?
