Family friendly box sets

Can anyone recommend a family friendly box set please? We need something else to get into now the holidays are upon us and sometimes don't have the time to invest in a full film so episodes around the 45/50 mark would be great! We love bake off, glow up, our planet etc and DCs are 10 and 7.

We have Netflix and Amazon Prime. What have you all enjoyed together?

Two girls aged 5 and 8 have enjoyed “Just add magic” and “Anne with an E”. I think “She Ra” on Netflix is good too.

NoSquirrels · 21/07/2020 20:07

Series of Unfortunate Events is great.

OhioOhioOhio · 21/07/2020 20:07

The floor is lava might suit? We aren't so keen on it though.

Livingthecovidaloca · 21/07/2020 20:09

Once upon a time on Netflix.
All the fairytale characters cursed to live in the real world. DS8 has absolutely loved it. DH and I really enjoy it too.
The plots all twist together in quite complex ways, so keeps us all entertained.

If you like Bake Off then all 10 series of Masterchef Australia are on Prime - it’s nothing like the UK show, we’ve really enjoyed it as a family series.

kathryn19801 · 21/07/2020 20:10

We are watching Merlin that used to be on BBC. They are on Netflix.

Boopear · 21/07/2020 20:11

How old are the children? My 13yo (and I) loved Parks and Recreation (prime)

Boopear · 21/07/2020 20:11

Ah, 10 and 7.. maybe not 😃

Herbiegerbie · 21/07/2020 20:16

Thank you! They aren't keen on cartoon type stuff but some great suggestions here Grin

Just looked up Once Upon a Time...says it's a 12 cert. Is it ok for 7 yr olds?

Outnumbered
Thunderbirds
Planet Earth
Wallace and Gromit
Mr Bean

NoSquirrels · 21/07/2020 20:27

My DC2 watched Once Upon A Time at about that age, OP - with my DH a d DC1, so I can’t vouch for it personally but they all enjoyed it and I don’t think was anything terrible for their age!

ToyKitchenSink · 21/07/2020 20:30

Sugar Rush on Netflix. Competitive baking for a $10k prize per episode. Loads of cupcakes and show stopper cakes. My two girls love it!

Maverickallthetime · 21/07/2020 20:31

I think outnumbered is wasted on your age children and would wait as it's a bit naughty at times and mine loved to watch something they though was grown up! We watched when they were 10 and 12 I think.

We've also loved ghosts which is horrible histories for grown ups!

Unfortunate events was also a hit

MerryGoRoundBrain · 21/07/2020 20:31

I read the title as “Family friendly bot sexts” and was intrigued.

GingerPCatt · 21/07/2020 20:33

If you like cooking competitions, My Kitchen Rules Australia has several seasons on Prime. Each season is like a million episodes so it will keep you going for a while.

Todaywewilldobetter · 21/07/2020 20:34

Merlin!

Frasa · 21/07/2020 20:37

Another recommendation for Merlin. I’ve an 8 year old boy and 5 year old girl and it appealed to both. Myself and DH really enjoyed it too. We haven’t found anything to match for family viewing since.

Howcanwehelp · 21/07/2020 20:39

I have two 11 year olds. I got disney plus at the beginning of lockdown. We've watched boy meets world (7 seasons I think) and now watching girl meets world. (the sequel with grown up Corey and tapanga). Not only entertaining but we've discussed adult /teenage relationships and friendships.

OhioOhioOhio · 21/07/2020 20:40

Why is the Australian bake off different than the UK one?

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/07/2020 20:45

Nailed It if you can get it. Baking fails.

Also they aren't series but everything by Studio Ghibli. Japanese and awesome.

Todaywewilldobetter · 21/07/2020 20:49

We've never found anything since that we all really like since Merlin either.
They liked the Artemis Fowl movie and the Jacqueline Wilson 4 Children & It.
Series wise, not much. I'm not a Star Waes fan but the others enjoyed Mandalorian.

Gossipgirl2 · 21/07/2020 20:50

The Middle on Prime is family friendly

whichteaareyou · 21/07/2020 20:50
