How many books have you read so far this year?

I’m on 43. Trying to do 52 by the end of the year. My New Years resolution was to do 12 but I did that in 12 weeks so upped my game. Begrudgingly I’ll admit lockdown has been very helpful in improving my stats.
How many books have you read this year and what has been your favourite?

Great thread Smile

Still reading my first! (Thomas More biography by Peter Ackroyd, but just bought Kate Mosse, The Taxidermist's Daughter) that's as much as I can possibly manage between commitments, I'm following a tip to read a page a day and feel at least I'm managing that more or less.

I cheat now and listen to audiobooks on YouTube whilst I'm doing much needed home renovations - they save my sanity when sanding/waxing. Currently enjoying AC's Poirot read by the superb John Moffatt, as well as ghostly offering from Lovecraft, Susan Hill, MR James etc although I'd love longer audiobooks of that genre sometimes.

27 for me. Pretty rubbish for me..last year I read 86

I know I've listened to 12 MacBride books in the last 6 weeks.. but they are pretty long.

According to good reads 272. I read v fast and often, plus I’ve not been sleeping well so often reading a book overnight.
Some were rereads which are faster too.

I have read 82. I'm an English teacher who has had a significantly reduced workload during lockdown due to having mainly Year 11 this year. I normally read about 120 a year, so am on course for a higher total this year. Favourites have been A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, The Dreamers by Karen Thompson Walker, The Unseen by Roy Jacobsen, Meat by Joseph de Lacy (not for the faint hearted), Before and After by Andrew Shanahan, A Boy And His Dog at the End of the World by C.A. Fletcher, I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman and Nothing To See Here by Kevin Wilson.

When my daughter was 14 we bumped into her New english teacher...in the library

The teacher asked had she been reading books, dd said ‘yes’

i said ‘you don’t read’ and dd said ‘i read a chapter on the plane!’

The teacher said ‘ive read 26 books over the holidays and dd looked at her, completely deadpan and said ‘it was a long chapter’

I constantly read, maybe a book in 2 days. So about 100 books, I think.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 23/07/2020 19:05

70 according to good reads but a couple of those were short stories so more like 65

272 wowzers. I need to stop boasting about my 43! To be fair I only ready 4 books last year.
