Has anyone ordered anything from Wish? Is it legit?

I keep seeing it pop up with bargains that look too good to be true furniture and homeware wise - is it legit? Or one of those crappy, nothing like the picture, never get your money back places?

Read the reviews! That'll give you an idea. I ordered some wedding stationary and all was as pictured.

Peterbishopssarcasticsmile · 16/07/2020 13:44

The reviews look good on the site, I'd completely forgotten trust pilot existed so I'm going to check that out now

I ordered a top from a facebook advert. All was fine but the quality was shit.

DriftGames · 16/07/2020 13:53

I meant product reviews - sorry, I should have been more specific. Buyers often post pictures of what they actually received.

bookmum08 · 16/07/2020 13:56

From what I can tell it's the internet equivalent of buying stuff from Del Boy out of the back of a van.
Also ("allegedly") a lot of fake or products made from stolen designs.

NeilTheBaby · 16/07/2020 13:57

It is legit. You can get a lot for free too (just pay postage). But things do take an age to arrive. You often forget you've even bought it! And quality can be questionable.

Just don't buy anything expensive.

squeekums · 16/07/2020 14:41

I've had some damn good buys on there, boots, tops, phone covers
I use it,happy with it
Read the customer reviews and look for proper measurements to match for sizing. They run smaller being asian

EatsShootsAndRuns · 16/07/2020 15:04

I've got a fair bit of craft items but the prices are sometimes better on Ali express (more of an eBay format) basically do your research, read the reviews, don't buy anything which looks too good to be true.

Peterbishopssarcasticsmile · 16/07/2020 15:10

Hmm okay, I'm thinking furniture is probably a no no then!

Everything we have ordered has come, takes ages though!
None of it has been ‘real’, obvious rip offs, but you get what you pay for.
I’m not sure about the ethics of it now though, someone must be losing out for them to sell products so cheaply. Not sure I can justify it now

Sn0tnose · 16/07/2020 17:47

I wouldn’t, because I have concerns about the conditions their workers are in (how can they receive a living wage when so many of their products are only pence?) and because I’d rather pay more for something I know is going to be better quality.

My friend buys from them though. He says that some things are brilliant, some things are rubbish and there’s no telling what quality you’ll end up with, even if you’ve bought that product previously. He makes a point of not buying anything he couldn’t afford to chuck straight in the bin if it’s rubbish.

SheWranglesRugRats · 16/07/2020 17:52

It’s planet raping slave labour copyright infringing shit.

TempestHayes · 16/07/2020 18:16

It's fine for tat-like items. Like, a pen or a cup. It arrives as it looks.

Clothes will be very poor.

Stolen designs and unethical construction.

The items are only what's available at the usual wholesalers - Aliexpress, etc - and can usually be found on Ebay, Etsy and people's personal Shopifys. Oh, as well as 'Not on the High Strert' ;)

rosiethehen · 16/07/2020 18:30

Unethically produced rubbish that's destined for landfill.

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 16/07/2020 18:48

If you see something you like , check on other selling platforms like eBay. It will probably be cheaper when postage is included.

lachy · 16/07/2020 22:36

Yes. Utter rubbish. My friend ordered some clothes and some other random stuff from Wish. It was appalling quality.
frog22 · 16/07/2020 22:44

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

nicenana · 16/07/2020 22:52

Uncle bought a laptop. Did not work. Weird thing is they sent two instead of one but neither worked. No refund and was not cheap. Unle is 74 so wouldn’t buy a thing from them

HugeAckmansWife · 16/07/2020 22:56

Clothes, are awful but the fake lego is brilliant. I've bought loads for dd.. Harry Potter sets that would be over £100 for £25. They take longer to come and are called 'justice magician' but are indentical. If I could afford the real thing I would but I can't, so...

Gingaaarghpussy · 16/07/2020 22:57

Bored panda had some epic wish buys, not so long ago. One of which was a deckchairs that turned out to be doll size.Grin

No, the Lego sets are not identical; nowhere near. Just look at the photos of the ‘similar’ set on google to see.

If your kid is happy with them that’s great, but it’s disingenuous to tell others that they’ll be getting an identical set when that’s simply not true.

OP, Wish is made up of thousands of different sellers, hence the products being good and bad and the quality varying. So you can’t just ask “is wish good?” Because nobody can truly answer that.

Your best bet if you like a product is check the individual product reviews and look for photo ones.

bookmum08 · 16/07/2020 23:03

HugeAckman you shouldn't buy fake Lego. The designs are STOLEN from the actual designers who work bloody hard to design the models.
If you want cheaper then please buy via a legitimate secondhand Lego seller. Bricklink is a fantastic website for this. The sellers are independent (individuals or business) but the website is owned by Lego.
Don't buy stolen designs.

bookmum08 · 16/07/2020 23:06

(and I believe stolen designs applies to clothing and accessories sold via wish - I am not into fashion so I don't buy much but I believe is it wrong to buy something that a manufacturer has just copied from someone else's design)

Prettybluepigeons · 16/07/2020 23:07

Dh ordered a hard drive from them was sent a plastic box

CatRamsey · 16/07/2020 23:12

I personally wouldn't by furniture from there.

I've ordered bits and bobs from there, but it does take forever to arrive. The best thing I ever bought from there was a phone case with a charger in it.

Clothes I've heard arrive in ridiculous sizes and terrible quality. I enjoy watching people on YouTube try on some of the things they've bought and comparing them to how they look in the picture. The wedding dress ones are the best. Gin
