Anyone received anything from DVLA lately?

Sent off my logbook over 3 months ago to change address and haven't received it back yet. Phone line and chat not working, or just says the line is busy. I suppose not many employees are in their Swansea office at the moment.
Has anyone received anything from them lately, or managed to speak to them?

Paid a deposit on car beginning of May. Garage sent off for a new V5 as it had private plates that the previous owner wanted to keep, still waiting to pick it up. Current car MOT runs out at the end of month, know it will need lots of work which is why I was buying a new car, so frustrated and I am a Key Worker but because it is the garage requesting a new V5 not me it doesn't count.

I applied for my HGV licence and new photocard just after lockdown (paper form), and wrote on it "D4 medical report n/a due to COVID-19". They hung on to it until DVLA announced that D4s weren't required, and then sent it back after 7 weeks. However, I kept the old card because it was still valid, telling them it was needed to get into bonded warehousing.

@CivilServant123 There are many, many unhappy people on Twitter who have sent postal applications back in March. They have had no response still. I don't think DVLA have provided anything like an adequate service.

@ExclamationPerfume I know there are unhappy people, I’ve spoken with a few myself, but it’s not up to me to speak for my employer, there are complaints processes in place, as I said I’m only sharing my opinion.

Have tried calling again today at different times, the phone doesn't even ring, just does the 'line is busy' sound and cuts off. The chat also wasn't working, although only tried it once.
So frustrating.

@betteliefsen

It might be zero rated but you still have to tax it, it just doesn't cost you anything. The paperwork should say that?

I know it doesn't cost me anything but it's a waste of money that is being paid for by taxpayers, it costs DVLA money to send it out. They must send out thousands of the things to people who don't have to pay VED.

I’m waiting on a log book too. (Change of address, had lost original do not straightforward and needed to be done on paper.)

@Justeats

I applied on line for DDs provisional licence on June 3rd. Had an email saying they needed to send out a form for completion which was received and returned on June 10th and then heard nothing. I managed to track the application on line which said it was waiting for the form to be returned. After days of trying I managed to get through to someone on the phone who said I’d just have to wait and they’d got a massive backlog and there was nothing they could do.
That sounds similar to me. Applied 1st June, got the form in post, returned straight away . Received the license this week.
Baaaahhhhh · 16/07/2020 22:48

Does anyone know why online applications for provisional licenses don't seem to be accepted. Like pp's applied for DD and delay said they couldn't verify identity. Got the paper form from them and only had to provide exactly the same as online. Current passport all in order, biometric etc etc can't understand what the issue was.

TashieWoo · 16/07/2020 22:56

I bought a new car on Monday late afternoon (used car from a ford dealership) and got the logbook today, however when I tried to call them about my old car being scrapped on Tuesday I couldn’t get through and was advised by the breakers to send a letter via recorded delivery so they could track it. There’s a problem with my old logbook so I have to go through them rather than sending it to the breakers 🙄

Apparently they’re on skeleton staff, typical government department though really.

Was very frustrated that they have (comparatively) recently announced that photocard between Feb and Aug have been extended.

Does anyone know how long the extension is? Still awaiting a renewal reminder and mine runs out next week although I will give it a go online.

Ignore me. Just found this. Might be of use for someone.

OP I called over 100 times before I actually got through. Every single other time the line was busy.
If they just put more information on their website it would be ok but there seems to be no additional information which leads people to call them.
