Anyone received anything from DVLA lately?

Sent off my logbook over 3 months ago to change address and haven't received it back yet. Phone line and chat not working, or just says the line is busy. I suppose not many employees are in their Swansea office at the moment.
Has anyone received anything from them lately, or managed to speak to them?

I got a tax refund within days but no sign of the new log book-which is an arse as I live in a permit area that only gives you 28 days.

Well if they are all working from home, who is going to open the post?!

DH did his driving license and it came back within a week. I think he did it online. He is a HGV driver though and keyworker. Not sure if branding those words about helped.

@Imonlydoingwhatican did you try the chat at a specific time? Like first thing in the morning or late evening? I have tried it a few times but just get a useless bot answering questions.

2 driving licence renewals here. Been waiting for the new cards for 4 months. Can’t get hold of dvla to alert them that they may be lost on post. Online it says both licences were renewed and DH didn’t have any trouble getting a hire car a few weeks ago as they said it’s the online thing that matters anyway. Very frustrating that I can’t contact them at all to clarify!!

reading this is sounds like they are dealing with the things on top ie newest & oldest at the bottom of the pile are being left

No, we have tried to get a copy of log book as it is lost and we need to cancel car tax bit had nothing back. DH is a keyworker so apparently it could be fast tracked when we got in touch but nothing.

If you check the mot/ tax status online on the gov website it will tell you when the last v5 was issued. This will give you an idea of whether it's been processed or not. I deal with the dvla daily, online applications come back super quick, I'm still waiting on some paper applications from March. But a new V5 should have been back by now.

@leolion1 Checked online a couple of days ago and it hadn't been processed. Can't remember the exact date I sent it but it was around the time the lockdown started so probably at the bottom of a huge pile if not completely lost.

Logbooks take forever to come back. Do not despair.

Had to renew my photo driving licence. It was returned within 4 days. You’re meant to change the photo, I originally used an ancient one from about 10 years previous, the system said ‘New photo accepted’ although I hadn’t taken/sent one and was returned with my old photo-bonus! 20 year old really good looking picture that looks nothing like me!

I work at DVLA,

I’ve looked at dates, you should have received something back by now,

When it comes to calling they are really busy at the moment, it’s a matter of luck, they are open from 8-7 I would keep trying at differing times.

@CivilServant123 Do you know why the government decided that the DVLA could remain mostly closed? The vast majority of other departments have been open the whole time. It seems really strange to me considering how many people needed to renew licences and change cars etc.

I can’t comment on government decisions, I can’t really even comment on DVLA decisions, I only work here,

What I can say and this is firmly my opinion is that everyone here has been working twice as hard during the pandemic, staff here have as much right to be safe as any other employee in any other organisation, decisions had to be made for the vulnerable. DVLA by no means stopped or closed, if anything we swung into action to ensure that didn’t happen. I’m not that high up, but I’m proud to work here based on how well they’ve reacted to this pandemic.

Yes did mine and DH's driving licence renewals online a couple of weeks ago. Did it at the weekend and they arrived later that week. We were amazed how quick it was.

I applied on line for DDs provisional licence on June 3rd. Had an email saying they needed to send out a form for completion which was received and returned on June 10th and then heard nothing. I managed to track the application on line which said it was waiting for the form to be returned. After days of trying I managed to get through to someone on the phone who said I’d just have to wait and they’d got a massive backlog and there was nothing they could do.
