What’s Happening In Your House?

Feeling a bit low as it’s raining & we had such a lovely sunny weekend. Definitely doesn’t feel like July! DD11 is in her room ( can’t seem to get her out these days) & I’m having a glass of wine or 3 whilst chatting to DH about my DM. I’m definitely in the “ sandwich generation” as I have DD11 & my parents in their 80s to worry about. Looking forward to Asda curries & naan bread for tea. May clean the bathroom as it offends me!

We had a waitrose Indian meal deal for dinner. Bloody delicious. Bathing the kids then I'll put the 3yo to bed and go to sleep early. I'm pretty run down. DH will sort the 6yo's bedtime.

bloodywhitecat · 13/07/2020 18:55

Baby No. 1 (8 months) is squealing in delight at...well who knows what. Baby No. 2 (12 weeks) is laying under his baby gym watching the lights which is bloody amazing because there has been concerns about his vision due to a brain injury.

(I am a foster mum)

farmertom · 13/07/2020 18:59

Aawww @bloodywhitecat your post made me so happy to read! Two little babies 😭

I am sat in a chair in the dark in toddlers room waiting for him to fall asleep and have just heard DH go in to settle the baby who sleeps in our room.

Feeling exhausted tonight so should go for an early night but some quiet alone time with a cup of tea and tv is calling me...

Finfintytint · 13/07/2020 19:01

DH on lates. Read a kindle book this afternoon and just had a baked potato for dinner. Hoping to find something interesting to watch on tv tonight ( mid Covid move stuck in rental whilst house move goes through) and no Sky....will probably resort to Food Channel again depending on whether I can find a film.

greenestolives · 13/07/2020 19:06

I'm cooking dinner (sausages), DH is racking his brains trying to remember the name of a random guitarist, and the young people are glued to their electronic devices as usual.

There may have to be wine later.

Shmithecat2 · 13/07/2020 19:08

Just got ds off to sleep although i know that won't more than about 2 hours Hmm. Might get in the bath.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 13/07/2020 19:11

Just me at home as husband has gone on holiday for two weeks. I'm pretty bored. Watching tv. Considering going to bed with a book.

maddiemookins16mum · 13/07/2020 19:11

DP is in the kitchen washing up and will bring me a cuppa soon. We had garlic butter, lemon and herb chicken thighs, rice and veg for tea. I’m watching telly and on MN. DD is watering the garden is is going to do us fresh pineapple and frozen strawberry yoghurt for pudding when she comes in. We’ll watch telly, read and chill for the evening. Busy day in the office today for me, it’s being prepped for staff to return in a few weeks (I’ve been there since day 1 of lockdown). I think I’m going to finish my home delivery order soon (and will facebook message my MIL and see if she needs anything). Lovely, lovely MIL moved in with us the night of lockdown and went home on Saturday, I miss her company.

TheGirlWhoLived · 13/07/2020 19:13

DD’s are playing sims in the playroom, and discussing how they need to pay their bills or the power will be cut off. Neither of them have bothered to get a job so I suspect it’s imminent (they are 6 and 9)

Dh is doing a particularly rubbish job of buying dinner at Tesco. He had to buy pizza and chocolate raisins and so far has sent 10 texts.

I am mumsnetting, and growing dc #3 and thinking about prosecco

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 13/07/2020 19:16

DS1 (15 ) is in his bedroom. No idea what he's doing.
DS2 (13) is in his bedroom. No idea what he's doing either (terrible mum alert). He made scones this afternoon though as we have some clotted cream that needs eating.

I'm watching Desperate Housewives. Have just made chicken pie (never made it before. Could be a disaster. The pie tin was too big so who knows).

Pascha · 13/07/2020 19:18

DC are watching YouTube minecraft, DH is dozing on the sofa and I'm fanning about here while I wait for the tesco Delivery.

dementedma · 13/07/2020 19:18

I am on MN in the bedroom with a glass of wine, DH in the kitchen watching footy and drinking beer, DS glued to his tech in his room and DD1 is out somewhere. All fairly normal. Dh and I had salmon and new potatoes for dinner, DS had a huge bowl of home made potato salad (and nothing else) and DD will sort herself out.
DD2 lives with her new BF so no idea what she is up to - probably white water rafting or canyoning or abseiling somewhere. She’s an all action kinda gal.

HoppityVooooosh · 13/07/2020 19:27

I'm currently trying to get my 23 month old to sleep - he is usually asleep by 7 but is been difficult tonight! DP is downstairs having some downtime after having done the last 3 nights of bed time!

As usual we ate 3 different meals for tea because the toddler and DP are very fussy!

Got some popcorn downstairs waiting for me once DS is asleep!

ikeairgin · 13/07/2020 19:29

I've cooked dinner - Pad Thai and just popped out to pick up my serviced bike with added rack - omg it rides like a dream. Fabio - the personable Portugese mechanic has done a great job. Now sitting on the sofa contemplating breaking out the reduced rhubarb and custard trifle I picked up at work and a cuppa - my hubby is still wfh on the computer at the other end of the room so no telly until he's done.

My two teens are in their rooms but they did grace us with their presence for dinner

Westiegirl3 · 13/07/2020 19:34

I'm sitting drinking gin with two Westies sleeping on me, the doors are open and I'm cold but can't move them...
Need to cook dinner of pie, chips, peas and gravy, but I'm likely to leave it for when H comes on from the garden to cook for us instead

Pipandmum · 13/07/2020 19:35

My son helped make dinner and it's in the oven. My daughter is recovering from D of E expedition - not a good trip she was very tearful on the ride home - seems her 'teammates' were anything but.
We are going to pick a movie to all watch together - this is not always an easy task! School and college for both in the morning.

Drogonssmile · 13/07/2020 19:46

2 DSs (3.5 and 6.5) are asleep. I'm in the bath. DH is downstairs either watching tv or working and there is a FUCKING NOISY ice cream van circling our estate driving me mad with its loud tinkling!

toria658 · 13/07/2020 19:58

I was grumpy with DH last night for no reason other than being tired. So this morning ( opposite side of the world) have got up early to make him an “ I’m sorry I was an unreasonable ratbag last night And you were so calm and nice, and why do you always behave well when I don’t behave well’ special fried breakfast Northern style, I originate from the South of the Uk and was ‘educated’ about what is considered a reasonable breakfast up north Hmm .

Have put a wash on, walked and fed both dogs and lit the fire as is a chilly winters morning at 14 degrees C. ( I know have become a soft ex pat who whinges at temperatures below 20 ) ...

betteliefsen · 13/07/2020 20:01

Da and I are watching Friday Night Dinner together whilst having dinner on the sofa. It's hot and humid so we'll be out in the garden for a beer afterwards.

ginsparkles · 13/07/2020 20:04

On the sofa with Ddog alseep next to me, DH in his chair, watching old episodes of escape to the chateau. DD noisily playing on her tablet while FaceTiming her friend.

Summer41 · 13/07/2020 20:11

I am sitting on a chair in my son's bedroom waiting for him to fall asleep, having just settled my sleeping baby in his room. DP is watching meaningless videos on MSN. Shortly we will eat dinner in front of the tv.

BarbedBloom · 13/07/2020 20:18

We got a takeaway as the joint I intended to defrost for tea is solid as a rock still. DH has fallen asleep on the sofa. I am playing Sims 4 and one cat is staring angrily out at the rain and the other is playing in her tunnel. We have the radio on and i am about to close the curtains as it is really dark outside already.

H1978 · 13/07/2020 20:22

Dh building wooden shelves for basement, I’ve just finished cleaning the kitchen and dcs on various electronics round the house. Feeling a bit exhausted today so definitely need an early night but not before a clean house!

Babyroobs · 13/07/2020 20:22

Just waiting for the rain to stop so I can walk the dogs. DD cooked the dinner earlier which was nice for a change . Might have a Gin later and hoping dh will bake some scones which he promised at the weekend and didn't materialise ! We are still in lock down so need little treats to keep us going.
