What’s Happening In Your House?

Feeling a bit low as it’s raining & we had such a lovely sunny weekend. Definitely doesn’t feel like July! DD11 is in her room ( can’t seem to get her out these days) & I’m having a glass of wine or 3 whilst chatting to DH about my DM. I’m definitely in the “ sandwich generation” as I have DD11 & my parents in their 80s to worry about. Looking forward to Asda curries & naan bread for tea. May clean the bathroom as it offends me!

I've just finished a natter on the phone with my D.I.L and grandchild. My OH is sat reading a book and munching crisps after loading the dishwasher and the dog has retired to her bedroom where she's probably laid on her bed chewing her chewy stick.
I'm just browsing around on here after finishing a magnum lolly.

Just spent 3 1/2 hours in the walk in centre with a sprained ankle but its not broken. Bonus!

DarkHelmet · 13/07/2020 20:37

It's just me and my 10yo DD2 in our house. It's a quiet evening here, early pjs, we had fajitas for dinner so both stuffed and relaxing on the sofa. There is a couple of glasses of wine involved Grin

I have 2 older DC who moved out just before lockdown to live with partners so I've just been texting them to catch up on their day. My youngest is laid with her head on me playing Roblox with her long distance best friend. They're happily chatting on speaker phone, lots of giggles - which is lovely!

Debating what to watch on Netflix when she's gone to bed if anyone has any ideas?

LipstickTaserrr · 13/07/2020 20:39

I'm sat in the dark, facing the corner, waiting for DS 18 months to finish his bedtime routine.

It's rather long and consists of stripping off clothing and throwing it out of the cot, throwing teddy comforter and pillow out of the cot, stripping off bedsheets and mattress protector and throwing it out of the cot.Hmm

He will probably cry for it all back and we play this game a few times before he eventually falls asleep.

Meanwhile DD6 is probably switching between spellings and gaming apps everytime she hears me coming back. Hmm
I will then be negotiating bedtime with her while remembering about a time that my life wasn't ruled by the unreasonable behaviour of two tiny dictators.

I'm 'hiding' in my bedroom trying to get 5 minutes peace for meaningless browsing - both children have followed me up so have DD lying on the floor randomly kicking the radiator whilst reading (accidently as she is incapable of keeping her legs still) and DS lying next to me watching something random on YouTube. DH meanwhile has the living room to himself and is watching TV in peace.

Haven't the heart to tell the kids to go away as I've been working all day so they've not seen much of me (DH isn't taking the piss and would support me in making them go downstairs if I wanted - its also his turn to sort bedtime so I will take over the sitting room in 10 minutes)

DarkHelmet · 13/07/2020 20:40

Actually when I say it's 'just' me and my DD, we're the only humans in the house - I have 5 dogs all snoozing in various cosy spots, and a new kitten sharpening her claws on my sofa Confused

My son is finally asleep so I’m recovering by having a beer on the balcony, boyfriend is out so I have some actual time on my own!

LuluJakey1 · 13/07/2020 20:46

DC in bed asleep.
DH and I have eaten outside. I had a glass of white wine. He is on his second. He is now kicking DS1's little football into the goal, dribbling the ball round the garden and doing a MOTD commentary at the same time as if he is George Best.

TokyoSushi · 13/07/2020 20:53

I've just had a shower after my online zumba class, DS (9) is watching YouTube in his room, DD (7) is eating cereal in the kitchen, DH is on his way home from work and Ddog is faffing about trying to get somebody to throw his ball.

dalmatianmad · 13/07/2020 21:00

I'm in the bath waiting for dp to bring me a cuppa up.
Ds 17 is watching TV in his room.
Dd 19 has gone to her boyfriends for the night.
Spotty dogs have been walked alot today so they'll be snuggled in a neat row on the sofa....

GiveMeStrengthOrAHobby · 13/07/2020 21:16

I'm lying on the couch in shock as DS (13) has just voluntarily taken himself for a bath with both soap AND water, completely unprompted, bribed or cajoled in any way

wanderings · 13/07/2020 21:27

I'm half-heartedly playing with the "crazy catch" (a trampoline-like device which you throw a ball at, and it throws it straight back at you) in the dark and drizzly garden, between watering plants sheltered by the tree. The cat is slowly and idly wandering around, totally unphased by flying balls.

betteliefsen · 14/07/2020 00:07

I awake and debating whether to go downstairs, have a bath or lie in bed awake unable to sleep as I know ill most likely be awake until 4 now.

DeadCity · 14/07/2020 00:11

Is there anything more soul destroying than lying in the dark, listening to your partner snoring?!

Frownette · 14/07/2020 00:11

Why 4?
I'm drying my hair off after a shower with a cup of tea

houseinthemiddleofthestreet · 14/07/2020 00:43

I'm waiting for a storm to hit, looking out at a very dark sky. DP is playing the guitar. Ds(2) is playing with blocks, when he's not running over to try to steal my glasses. I going to make Korean rice bowl for supper (I'm in Canada) because its easy, tasty and I should have gone shopping today but didn't, so I don't have much else in.

betteliefsen · 14/07/2020 00:49

@Frownette

Why 4? I'm drying my hair off after a shower with a cup of tea
Because I have insomnia most nights and it's usually four am.
Frownette · 14/07/2020 00:53

@betteliefsen you don't have to get up early do you?
