Does any one want to adopt me as their DIL?

I'm already a happy DD but I've temporarily had enough and I fancy a change of scenery. I come with a ready made DGS who is such a lovely and happy boy you won't be disappointed. I'm in my 30s good career very independent but love to spend time with others. I am a relatively good cook and will happily bake some sweet and savoury treats. Baby DS is 7mos and I guarantee will make you laugh and smile. So any takers?

@2018SoFarSoGreat I would in no way be disappointed in a Scottish MIL. I can hear the Nellie songs already and you can teach me all the Scottish sayings I never understand!

@Knittingnanny the one and only!

Could you do a rota between all the candidates?

ChocolateBlock · 10/07/2020 21:25

Well in keeping with current times it would have to be some form of online video call. But I'm also an excellent excel spreadsheet maker so I can whip up a colour rota in no time. I want to see everyone and DS will have the time of his life before I go back to work.

Lake district potential MIL here. A few questions, have you ever shorn a sheep ? How are your tractor skills ? Do you mind having broken nails and a bit of animal poo under them ?
Will collect you in clapped out land rover if you accept those conditions !

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:27

I’ve been there for jive dancing also many times, when I’m not knitting or playing with babies and little ones of course.
Only 30 mins away ( if no traffic) from so hopefully I will be shortlisted.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 10/07/2020 21:29

Well, I hate to say it but I think you are made for me, @ChocolateBlock. I even have a pin that says 'I heart spreadsheets' - a pivot table and a slicer and I'm happy as a wee clam.

I am, however, happy to share. You get that color coded calendar out and we shall make it happen.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 10/07/2020 21:31

one more point. For the inteview process, I will wear my fab Mac Ruby Woo lipstick. You will pretend you don't see how smeary it is, or that it is somewhat coloring my teeth.

It appears I will be a shoo-in. :)

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:31

Haha! I also have a current Dbs certificate from my Homestart volunteering , that training didn’t involve trading to be a fake MIL though.
I don’t have first aid certificate and I’m squeamish about blood but can deal with wee, poo and sick ok.
Could I also be your mums friend?

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:32

I don’t know how to make spreadsheets x

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:34

Before you go back to work you say? Have you childcare arranged yet? .....
seriously, you sound lovely, do you have a real life MIL?

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:34

Training not trading!

ChocolateBlock · 10/07/2020 21:34

@VictoriaBun never shorn a sheep but have clippered a man? I can learn a tractor pretty quick (fingers crossed) I'm sure. I hate nails so mine are v short and I'm not scared of poo (trust me!). And lastly if it is a defender I'm all yours...assuming I scrape a pass?

Arg i can't compete with victoriabun's sheep and tractor Sad.

But we have cats and my favorite thing to eat is chocolate.

VictoriaBun · 10/07/2020 21:42

Yes it's a full on farmy Land Rover defender although the mice have eaten a small portion of the passenger seat

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:42

2018, I bought a ruby woo lipstick on the recommendation of someone on mumsnet. It is so hard and solid I have to warm the case up in my hands for ages before I can plaster it on.

ChocolateBlock · 10/07/2020 21:43

@2018SoFarSoGreat our family had an I heart Spreadsheet mug! Not sure what happened to that. I won't notice the lipstick but it sounds fancy.

@Knittingnanny I used to jive there too lol.

This thread is everything! So lovely! I want to be old enough to adopt you all!!

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:44

Victoria, when you have shorn your next sheep can you spin it and sent it to me? I will knit chocolate blocks baby a jumper with it as our joint application process for this job. Dyed blue would be useful, thanks

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:47

Really???? I probably have seen you then. We haven’t been for quite a while as until he retired recently my husband worked a lot of night shifts so probably from 2006-2017/8
You’d probably remember dancing with him, did wild spinning! Far Eastern with a black hair

giantangryrooster · 10/07/2020 21:47

I want to be old enough to adopt you all!!

I see what you mean, but oh no you don't want to be that old Grin. I have done my fair share of elderly parents parenting, could you be interested in a sister?

ChocolateBlock · 10/07/2020 21:48

@VictoriaBun the 90 I had was an ex farm defender. Not practical for a baby but will get my hands on one when he is bigger.

VictoriaBun · 10/07/2020 21:48

@Knittingnanny
Sorry I'm into crochet , but will bear you in mind for any spares !

Knittingnanny · 10/07/2020 21:50

Ok Victoria, I do crochet as well but knitting nanny sounded better than crochet nanny as a name!

Todaywewilldobetter · 10/07/2020 21:52

giantangryrooster I'd love to! I have a baby step sister (she's 32! ) but I've room for plenty more in my nest.

ChocolateBlock · 10/07/2020 21:52

I can't remember but sounds v likely. I went mainly on Tues. Sometimes Thurs probably 2008-2012 maybe. I can't quite remember though.
