Sooooo because I was out and about yesterday I'm now also seeing petitions for lockdown again following yesterday's numbers.
Errr what the chuff has happened?

Have PHE widened their criteria for death/positive tests to anyone who can spell 'Covid'?

Jeez I'm so pissed off with the inconsistent reporting and backdating now. Strange how it's happened when the govt are likely to try and get us to wear masks in shops soon.....

😉

NothingIsWrong · 12/07/2020 09:34

@PickAChew last night was awesome. I'm paying a heavy price this morning though...

Nihiloxica · 12/07/2020 09:34

I had a really horrible thought this morning that I probably won’t be able to go with dd to drop her off at university in September 😨 even if they say two parents are allowed on site (doubtful) I have no one who could look after the other children. It would have to be dh not me going because I can’t carry heavy stuff. So fucked off.

Sad

Wouldn't your family? (Or daren't I ask?)

I hope you get to go. It's still a while off.

It's so nice to wake up away from our house, which became our prison for a while there. Smile

If masks become compulsory where I live, I will be back to prison, I guess. But no longer prepared to leave delivery slots available for others with higher need, which we have done since March.

NothingIsWrong · 12/07/2020 09:35

@LivinLaVidaLoki if you dig into the numbers, it looks like PHE removed loads on Friday, meaning we had a much smaller number then and added them back in yesterday meaning it was much higher. I'm thinking this is more a data collection problem than a second wave...

I must have deleted more idiots than I thought as my feed isn't filled with this crap. And like you I am really based on one days figures? Against a reducing trend. The crackpots are out. I can't see the govt litsening to them though. Although they might use it as justification for masks.
GrrrrrrArghhhhh · 12/07/2020 09:52

@Pickachew... I also made the critical error of staying up late watching TOTP from 1985 (mmm Morten Harket) accompanied by some rather nice red wine..still woke up bang on 6 this morning but am feeling decidedly wabbit....

While I wouldn’t support a second lockdown if there was a second wave I can at least appreciate the point of view of those who want one if there was a serious and sustained rise in the number of deaths. OMG we must lockdown now!!! Look at the numbers from one day!!! Makes no sense. There will be blips and spikes and drops, unless we can get a full breakdown of exactly when all of the deaths actually occurred not the day they were reported, one days numbers are meaningless in the big picture.

Do you remember the snobby comments about Primark shoppers? Maybe this will give some of those people pause for thought.

Primary are refusing to take the governments bail out of £1000to take back workers as it would be doing so anyway. M&S will be

Primark is set to reject a £30m bonus payment unveiled by the chancellor last week, a decision that piles pressure on other big companies not to cash in at taxpayers’ expense.

The Treasury called Primark “a credit to our country”

Orangeblossom78 · 12/07/2020 10:16

I also liked "Where she goes" thank you didn't realise there was a second series.

Plan for today car boot sale this morning then try and find a pub which is open maybe with a beer garden by the river. Sad to see the lovely ancient one we like is not opened, possibly due to the new rules, due to it's quirky nooks and crannies.

I'm disappointed with Jarvis today. Read in the Times he went to Paris to see his teenage son, then insisted on hugging him with a sheet over him Hmm despite this being the time when cafes etc were open. Wonder how the son felt about that

That is a very smart PR move. Also I imagine other parts of Primarks parent and associated companies are doing rather well and so maybe overall the company is not in the dire financial straits that other fashion / retailers are. (Primark is part of Associated Brirtish Foods (ABF)).

Collective forgive me for I have sinned.
Usually I get bitten to death by mozzies, huge red lumps that last for days even with cream on, and DH gets nothing. This year he has had some bites. Little pin head sized ones that disappear after about an hour. And does he go on about them - the feeble voice but thank goodness not the dressing gown of doom. I started off telling him where my armoury of creams and repellents is but have gradually got less and less sympathetic. Today I cracked and said "FGS there is a pandemic on and you are whining about piddly gnat bites"
What is the appropriate punishment for my lapse?

TheOrchidKiller · 12/07/2020 11:33

@countrygirl99
I think you have suffered enough with the whining. Tell your DH he needs to take himself & his festering ginourmous bites as far away from you as possible and self-isolate until he has calmed down.

You are forgiven.

MaudesMum · 12/07/2020 11:36

Well, that was a joyless shopping experience. Went to a shopping outlet with associated plant nursery - so opportunities for retail and plant buying therapy. The first shop I went into had a lady on the door who not only squirted hand sanitiser at me, but also requested my name and phone no. for track & trace "for your own protection". Couldn't try anything on, and we had to pack our own clothes once purchased. Then into the garden centre bit - and again had to apply hand sanitiser before entering. Which makes no sense, given that you're inevitably going to spend time picking up plants, if only to take them to the till.... Not going out again today

Orangeblossom78 · 12/07/2020 11:42

Bath and North East Somerset

compared with the previous week

I keep an eye on local numbers now rather than overall. I don't realise shops made you do track and trace as well. That is a bit OTT.

Didn't realise track and trace applied to shops.
Orangeblossom78 · 12/07/2020 11:43

My DH is going on about his varicose veins Hmm

I have had surgery on mine which has been brilliant bit don't remember much sympathy at the time.

countrygirl99 · 12/07/2020 11:44

Thank you theorchidkiller. I shall try not to sin again

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 12/07/2020 11:47

I felt similar last weekend MaudesMum.

DH went alone into the charity shop yesterday as again max 10 people and there are 5 of us. He went back today with one of the kids for something he saw but I've still to get a look inside yet.

Apparently they are planning of more pedestrianisation for city center so the pubs - which can now open outdoors as in wales - can use the spaces might be worth going in again so we could get a meal but not today as waiting for on-line shopping I did yesterday to turn up.

MagdaS · 12/07/2020 11:49

Urgh. I am also hungover. Never mix white and red wine. 🤢

My boys and DH have gone to the neighbour’s for reasons I can’t quite fathom, so I am sitting on our garden bench in the sunshine.

Shopping yesterday was pretty normal apart from floor markings and masks at the beauty counter. And getting lost in the one way system in House of Fraser. Which I didn’t think would reopen, so that’s a positive.

BogRollBOGOF · 12/07/2020 11:51

My DH is too sleepy to whinge.
The b'stard snores though.

Country, it's OK, you were sorely provoked Wink

Orangeblossom78 · 12/07/2020 11:55

You come to learn the places which are more easy and friendly I reckon. I used to dream Waitrose (really fussy) but it has got much better. M&S has more anxious hissy customers than in there I find. Local co-op easy going but grumpy customers sometimes so go at certain times. I guess we adapt, but it adds an extra layer of stress to everyday life. It's like that mental load isn't it, now we have to think of what to go and get, and on top where will be OK, as well...

Orangeblossom78 · 12/07/2020 11:55

dread, not 'dream'
