@InsaneInTheViralMembrane re "wrong" thoughts : I have at least had the satisfaction of seeing the instigators of some "correct" ideology get their comeuppance in the past.

It's really reasssuring to discover other people who get what I mean, & who can talk calmly about all of this. It can be lonely, having opposing views which get shut down. I feel a bit more like my old self when I read these AD threads.

Sometimes being forensic means you miss the bigger picture. Mind you anything is better than Corbyn.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 08/07/2020 14:22

Neil Hamilton as in cash for questions, sleaze and the scary wife Christine?

He stood for MP here for one of the minor parties as he was apparently born up the road a bit but he's not in the Senedd for this area.

Well you lot will enjoy this, selected highlights of the new (especially patronising) "guidance" for shielding people where someone in their households has symptoms (also note for any non symptom person, even if you have a negative test you still have to stay home for 14 days as the tests are unreliable as fuck you may develop symptoms Hmm)

Anyway....
"Where possible, arrange for anyone who is clinically vulnerablee or clinically extremely vulnerablee to move out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of your home isolation period. If you cannot arrange for vulnerable people to move out of your home, stay away from them as much as possible, following the shielding guidancee_...

For family members who are 70 or over, or clinically vulnerable, and are not symptomatic, it is important to avoid contact with other family members as much as possible see guidance above on persons aged 70 or over and the clinically vulnerable.
Many people find it helpful to remind themselves why what they are doing is so important. Hopefully, none of your family will experience anything more than mild symptoms, but some people are badly affected by COVID-19. By staying home, you are helping to protect your friends and family and other people in your community, as well as making sure the NHS does not get overwhelmed"

I particularly liked the helpful advice of "reminding myself why this is so important"Hmm

Checking in !!!

@SockYarn That's the one! What have we come to when he's the lone voice of sanity?!

You can blame me, I had the pleasure of voting for the 'man in the white suit' just 2 days after moving into the Tatton constituency. Their confrontation on The Heath is the stuff of legend around here!

Worldgonecrazy · 08/07/2020 14:41

@BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb

Thank you for sharing. I live with two extremely vulnerable people and they will be heartened to hear our hugs are against government guidance.

SeagoingSexpot · 08/07/2020 14:43

I've suddenly realised who the posters competitively bragging about how much they loved lockdown and are happy never to see another human they don't live with again sound like: Mrs Elton.

"I honestly said that the world I could give upparties, balls, playsfor I had no fear of retirement. Blessed with so many resources within myself, the world was not necessary to me. I could do very well without it. To those who had no resources it was a different thing; but my resources made me quite independent."

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 14:46

So that means DH who has had a shielding letter, if I got symptoms could move out and stay with his mum and vulnerable dad Confused hmm

All a bit confusing..

anyway on the free meals vouchers, seems that is not happening but they are offering 50% off eating out Mon to Wed for both adults and children.

I guess if it was likely death for most of us they unruly would not be bribing us to go out ?

Worldgonecrazy · 08/07/2020 14:51

Good news on the food vouchers which happens to coincide with our holiday.

justasking111 · 08/07/2020 14:53

Well my gob is proper smacked re driving tests. Just tried online well in Wales as nationwide nada. In fact although they brag key workers can take a test there are only three places they can, Birmingham, Manchester, London. There are 500k backdated tests to get through before they will consider anyone else. Plus only five tests a day because of PPE and cleaning, in between applicants.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 14:54

I think it said for the whole of August. Not sure if for takeaway and just lunchtimes or evenings - think might be nice to use sometimes as a break from cooking. They are doing the VAT but as well, from 20% to 5% I think.

Worldgonecrazy · 08/07/2020 14:54

I know is not done to post about other threads but on the masks thread someone has actually said that wearing masks in schools should be the norm because if a child wants to wear one but others don’t, the mask wearing child may be bullied, BUT if wearing masks is the norm then the children not wearing masks will be the ones who are bullied AND THE POSTER THINKS THATS OK.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 14:55

Maybe you can take one of the new electric scooters they are on about justasking Hmm

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 14:56

Sorry not Hmm at you, at the scooters! Wink

TheOrchidKiller · 08/07/2020 14:57

@Bubbles
Well that's not at all patronising, is it? It might as well say, "Be a good little clinically vulnerable person & don't burden anyone, there's a love".

This advice always assumes that everyone either lives in a massive house with enough space to keep apart, or that we've all got somewhere else to stay at the drop of a hat.

And there will be people terrified into making those arrangements. DM's mind is going to go into overdrive when she sees this.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 14:57

I can imagine with little one masks would be a right fuss, with pulling at them, taking hem off and also competing with different styles etc (in school)

Worldgonecrazy · 08/07/2020 14:57

Sorry, not the masks thread, it’s on the normally sensible daily numbers and graphs thread.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 14:58

Surely it should be the vulnerable person stays put and the other moves out? DH said does anyone take much notice of all that stuff anyway? But I think some people take it to the letter.

justasking111 · 08/07/2020 15:06

Grandkids back at nursery this week 2 year olds freaked when they saw their aunties in masks.

Cattermole · 08/07/2020 15:10
@BogRollBOGOF that's a tragic loss of chips.
@Mascotte I did a double-take a couple of months ago over the visor & mask combo which was being worn by the woman serving me in the post office. She was stood behind the perspex security window. That seemed a little OTT.
OH has bought a mask for his barber's appointment. It looks like he's wearing a bra cup on his face. Not attractive.
@TheOrchidKiller a chap of my acquaintance (NOT DH who has a full-on David Bellamy facial fungus and who's happy to wear a mask if necessary for the sheer mockery of it) has a black rubber one with ridges.
He looks like The Gimp in it. I swear to God it looks as if he's wearing his wife's S&M pants on his face.

I have now fulfilled my dual purpose of lowering the tone AND placemarking the thread....

torydeathdrug · 08/07/2020 15:23

@Worldgonecrazy I had to walk away from the computer when I read that.
