Wierd things your cat does

One of our cats is very much a Queen Bee.

She is now 17 and since she was a baby and she needs to go to the litter tray she prowls around the house for half an hour or so yowling. It is like she is utterly offended to be confronted with her own bodily needs.

For years one or the other of us have yelled at her in exasperation; 'For God's sake will you just go to the TOILET!!!'

Mine knocks her head into the kitchen cupboard whilst I’m opening the cat meat 😺

Chocolatecake12 · 05/07/2020 09:14

Mine is very jittery and if scared will arch his back and jump sideways like a cartoon cat.

We used to have a cat who would curl up and go to sleep on top of the washing-up soaking in the sink

Iwantacookie · 05/07/2020 09:19

OP one of mine does exactly that acts like you've force fed her crack then digs a hole to china to shit it.
She also opens cupboards, doors, drawers & if shes being told off will drop to the floor and show her belly Grin shes a little weirdo but I love her to bits.

Aquamarine1029 · 05/07/2020 09:24

One of my cats is a sock thief. At least once a day, she will nick socks from wherever she can find them, carry them around the house in her mouth, yowling for good measure, of course, and then leave them in a pile somewhere, which is usually in my bathroom. It's as though she's hunting and showing off her prey. She is enormously proud of herself and will sit by the pile until she's properly congratulated.

Black Cat has an obsession with dark places!

She sits on the landing, making eye contact with us then staring meaningfully at the airing cupboard or the flap to the loft - her favourite place! Other places of interest are the closet, drawers (she climbs in them and then down the back), behind our headboard....Drives us nuts when she starts scratching at the closet door for a look in the middle of the night!

It’s quite spooky to look in the airing cupboard and there are a pair of green eyes floating in there!

Tish008 · 05/07/2020 09:41

Mine licks books. He steals the hair catcher form the shower, still can't find the last one

Justwhenyouthought · 05/07/2020 09:58

Our sixteen year cat started yowling early in the morning which was very unusual for her. We took her to the vet as she was getting very thin and she has been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid, one of the symptoms of which is anxiety, hence the yowling. She has now been on medication for three weeks now and has stopped out early morning wake up call Smile

Mine loves when I dance. Even a bit of a hip wriggle makes her run up to me and stretch her front paws.

I gave up trying to do aerobics.

My2catsarefab · 05/07/2020 10:12

One of my cats has a shoe and elastic fetish. She likes to sleep on shoes. Any visible elastic anywhere she will bite and chew on. My daughter's old ballet shoes, the elastic on eye-masks for sleeping - all chewed with teeth marks on.

My other cat likes to do a big stretch on her back, turn on her side, then will dig her claws into the carpet and pull herself along the carpet next to the skirting boards.

They are both scared to death of any 'character' slippers we wear. Any with faces on. The Stompeez slippers with flapping ears and tongues have them running under the beds.

GoshHashana · 05/07/2020 11:15

My 5-year-old ginger tom takes FOREVER to make a decision about jumping onto the sofa. He paces up and down, eyeing various potential sleeping spots, then sits for ages to mull over the options.

His brother (of blessed memory) used to drag dirty clothes from the laundry basket and bring them into the living room while we were out.

Paranoidmarvin · 05/07/2020 11:31

Mine doesn’t do anything like this. He is 11 though But doesn’t do anything weird.

Sunnydayshereatlast · 05/07/2020 11:38

Our dcat eats veg and absolutely expects a place setting at tea time to eat his own plate of peas, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower..

Pandsbear · 05/07/2020 11:46

One of our cats loves green beans! No other veg but green beans will get removed from your plate if you move away and haven’t spotted him lurking.

ColdGreenTeaMug · 05/07/2020 13:25

I knew of a cat who adored broccoli also. He would go amd over it.

One of our other cats likes watermelon. DH eats watermelon every day and saves her the juice on the plate.

My cat likes marmite. If I have a crumpet with butter and marmite he sits and stares at me until I give him the plate with the melted leftover butter and marmite on.

Magpiefeather · 05/07/2020 14:19

Ours licks plastic, particularly plastic bags. She will sit licking the same spot on a plastic bag for bloody ages in a cat trance. I don’t get it.

beaverbill · 05/07/2020 14:29

Mine is obsessed with one of my bras. He steals it out of my drawer, after he’s shouted at us to open the drawer. He only likes one of them. He sniffs and attacks it then brings it downstairs.

Elieza · 05/07/2020 14:54

Magpie - my friends cat did that, turned out it was a vitamin deficiency. So you may want to get it checked out? I’d never have guessed that!

Mine goes for a dump and then does a lap of honour afterwards! Round the house or garden. I thought I might join in lol Grin

TinkersRucksack · 05/07/2020 15:08

Mine loves hand cream and the smells of certain liquid soaps (Molton Brown is her favourite) so you'll get a good licking if you've used those.

But not anything coconut scented. You get bitten for using that.

sassafras123 · 05/07/2020 15:14

One of mine likes to tell everyone its suppertime by putting out a paw and flicking the feeding bowls onto the floor, fortunately they are plastic.

Scabetty · 05/07/2020 15:15

My younger cat plats fetch with scrunched up paper. She yowls loudly searching the house for a human and if you open a wardrobe door dashes inside, crouching to attack you. If you close the door and refuse to play she meows sadly to come out 🤣
