I think I have the opposite of Trypophobia *Trigger Warning*

This is really concerning me to be honest because my dc and dp are horrified and keep telling me that it’s disgusting and that I’m weird.

I first read about it on here so looked up the condition. Rather than being disgusted, I found myself feeling all warm and fuzzy and looked for more.

As time has gone on I have found some that would make your average person queasy ( a botched hair transplant resulting in red holes on someone’s scalp ) and that’s the one I keep looking at )

I’ve tried to look into this online but the issue seems to be that people have the phobia of holes and not the opposite which I have, whatever it is. I’m worried why I seem to like them so much.

Is there anyone else? Not expecting any/many people to say yes but I needed to get it out.

I have looked into this before... I feel the same!!
I feel almost exited in stressful situations. It's a coping mechanism as far as I know. Any other info anyone has found would be great 😂

Deadringer · 04/07/2020 19:45

Sometimes i feel compelled to keep looking at things that give me the ick, not sure that is the same though.

Zoflorabore · 04/07/2020 19:46

Oh wow I wasnt expecting that. I’m sort of relieved but expect us to be very much the minority!

I do have diagnosed OCD and anxiety and am medicated but I feel almost compelled to look. I have some saved in my photos. It’s very much a stress reliever.

I find most of the images, when you Google Trypophobia, incredibly beautiful. Love the symmetry, love the patterns, love the uniformity.

Ilovesausages · 04/07/2020 20:00

I have triptophobia but it makes sense to me that the opposite would be true. It doesn’t sound that weird.

Tana433 · 04/07/2020 20:04

I suffer from trypophobia and all i can tell you is that looking at holey things particularly pics of pieces of coral or a bee wax gives me a feeling of complete horror. My stomach lurches and my throat closes up, its horrid. I also have a strong aversion to eyes and eyeballs but i wouldnt call it a phobia as such.

MitziK · 04/07/2020 20:06

You're just a sporner.

Lola001 · 04/07/2020 20:06

just been googling this, love it!

Crimblecrumble1990 · 04/07/2020 20:10

I'm the same, I love it! Haven't found anyone else who feels the same way. I google images and would love to see it in real life (mainly the ones on people) but I I know a lot are CGI which makes me sad!

I agree crunchymum love the symmetry Smile

Makes my scalp crawl just thinking about it.

I do however have a morbid fasination with the x-ray of the child's skull where you can see their adult teeth in the gaps "shudder"

Zoflorabore · 04/07/2020 21:44

For those who like the images, google “trypophobia pasta” Smile

Google ‘trypophilia’

It appears to be a thing and even has its own Facebook page! 🙈

sohelpmegod · 04/07/2020 21:52

This is probably different but I love things like pimple popper, and all those medical things, I just like the cleaning and making things better?

I find all of this fascinating!

Zoflorabore · 04/07/2020 21:52

Ooh thanks TooMuchEyeliner

I found myself buying pikelets recently as was just so fascinated by them. I did eat them though.

Oh and to the pp that said I’m a sporner, I had a look at sporner corner on here and I’m very much not. Spot popping etc 🤮

I bought a shower mat with dimples on it . I knelt down on it to pick something up in the shower and when I stood up I had deep holes in my knees. I almost threw up!

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 04/07/2020 21:59

I like to see the holes being scraped/destroyed so I'm probably in the middle somewhere!

BigBadVoodooHat · 04/07/2020 22:03

Can I ask the people with trypophobia something: does it mean that you can never eat crumpets?

FloreanFortescue · 04/07/2020 22:07

I was going to suggest tryophilia too! Ugh 🤢 I hate holes

Nomorewineever · 04/07/2020 22:08

I don’t like crumpets, no! And things like coral or sponges make me feel very weird. Plug holes in sinks. Doesn’t stop me eating crumpets though. I just fill the holes with butter or honey. If I’m in control it’s fine.

But I do like seeing things being removed from holes like Dr pimple popper!

Sewrainbow · 04/07/2020 22:12

I kind of like them too, they're fascinating!

Karenista · 04/07/2020 22:28

I loved the pasta trypophobia pics! I get the urge to run my tongue over them. Weird.
The trypophilia pics are gross though.

Tana433 · 04/07/2020 22:39

Ive never really thought about it but no, crumpets dont bother me and neither do the holes in Aeros or Crunchies so it must be a psychological thing rather than a real physical manifestation. @tillytoodles1, you made me howl with laughter, i know exactly what you mean!!!

MaryRaddy · 04/07/2020 22:43

Googled this and it made me feel really sick!! How strange. There's an artist near me you'd love :
