So want to binge watch something. Been recommended...
Ozark or Hand Maidens Tale.

What would your choice be?

Definitely the handmaids tale.

AuntieMarys · 03/07/2020 18:46

Both are excellent

Overseasmom100 · 03/07/2020 18:46

What's it about without giving it away Grin

Both are fantastic.

The handmaids tale is very deep, though provoking and at times a stressful watch. (I had to build myself up mentally to watch it sometimes and felt drained afterwards) IMO it starts of really well but Jumps the shark a bit in the later seasons. Still worth watching.

Ozark is “lighter” (in comparison to the handmaids tale) and an easier watch but still really engrossing.

bashcrashfall · 03/07/2020 18:53

Handmaids Tale is great but dark - I wouldn't want to binge watch it.

sangrias · 03/07/2020 19:01

Handmaids tale!
I feel like its one of those ones you know you'll never forget watching.

Breathmiller · 03/07/2020 19:03

Both are amazing but on different ways.
I binge watched Ozark but even though I preferred Handmaids Tale, because I have an interest in the books and the topic in general I do think being forced to watch one a week was good for me. It is VERY heavy going.

mencken · 03/07/2020 19:06

Handmaids tale series 1 is good. Series 2 isn't so good and series 3 runs at a pace that would bore a snail.

Also a lot of seriously shit and mumbly actresses in it. Including, I'm afraid, the lead.

MaryRaddy · 03/07/2020 19:30

The Handmaid's Tale is brilliant. But be very careful, I binged watched it and became quite anxious and downbeat.

NoraLuka · 03/07/2020 19:36

The handmaid's tale is great but very dark as pp have said. I watched season 1 and was just starting season 2 in March. I found lockdown and wall to wall COVID news were making me anxious and evenings watching Handmaid's tale weren't helping so I stopped and haven't got back to it yet because I'm watching Lost instead

Luckystar1 · 03/07/2020 19:42

Yes A Handmaids Tale needs time for decompression afterwards. It’s absolutely amazing, but you need to give it time to be absorbed.

I loved series 1&2, the opening scenes of series 2 are the best tv I’ve ever watched.

Waitingforboristoletusfree · 03/07/2020 19:51

Handmaids tAle is definitely worth a watch. Very thought provoking and humbling.

Kittykatmacbill · 03/07/2020 19:54

The book is way better. Read that first.

CodenameVillanelle · 03/07/2020 19:54

You can't binge the handmaid's tale but you should watch it.

Ginger1982 · 03/07/2020 19:56

Both are great. The opening of Season 2 episode 1 of Handmaids Tale is absolutely horrific.

TheHighestSardine · 03/07/2020 20:01

Handmaid is just too depressing for me. I don't even have any triggers, I just hate how plausible the depicted society is.

Deadringer · 03/07/2020 20:01

Hamdmaid's tale, no contest.

Deadringer · 03/07/2020 20:02
  • handmaid's 🙄
stillfeelingmad · 03/07/2020 20:03

Where can you stream handmaids tale? It's not on Netflix but would love to re watch

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 03/07/2020 20:04

Hand maids tale is amazing, but yes quite dark. I watched it in my maternity leave pre-baby arriving and I cried a lot!

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 03/07/2020 20:04

Handmaid's tale 💯 Absolutely superb, but utterly chilling, very heavy watching as previous posters have said.

Pelleas · 03/07/2020 20:07

Handmaid's Tale - I agree with the pp who suggested reading the book first - it's much better than the series and it would be a shame to spoil the reading of the book with the very much second-rate drama.

WooYa · 03/07/2020 20:11

Definelty Handmaid's Tale, but like PP, if you are binge watching then prepare to feel anxious for a whole after. Its great and though provoking but some parts can be harrowing.

Overseasmom100 · 03/07/2020 22:29

Aghhh I dont want anything Im going to stress over or be scared!!!

Handmaids is fab. Even better if you get chance to read the book. One of the few tv adaptations that I feel have done the book some justice.
